I didn't know Dargon liked Immolation. It's one of the bands that come to my mind (along with Demigod, Demilich, early Amorphis, early Therion etc) when I hear the term atmospheric death metal.

I've never understood why every DM band on the planet would want to be a Suffocation clone. It's true that they are though.

If you're not going to be original at least pick a better band to be a clone of.

Anyways, I find Suffocation to be a good band, but some of the "clones" end up being far better than original (Beheaded, Pyameia etc)

Beheaded are hot and brutal indeed.

That middle riff in "Crowned With Repression" is killer. I think [I]Perpetual Mockery [/I]is my favorite album from them.

I heard they were working on a new album but they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth :(

I'm sorry but Pyrexia is wiggercore, and Beheaded do not even remotely begin to approach the level of Human Waste or Effigy of the Forgotten.

How can a clone outdo the original? It's ridiculous to even entertain the concept.

It depends. Some bands are not clones with the narrow sense of the term. They don't shamelessly rip off every riff Suffocation have written. They're just influenced by them and they're talented enough to incorporate their own elements to this influence. This way they take music one step further thus the first is not necessarily the best.
