I want that graphic novel so bad.

Fish 12-30-2005 09:18 PM
I liked the artist for the other comics better. You could actually see his drawings, they weren't so sketchy.
yeah I agree, i have SSTB and Apollo

B 12-30-2005 10:15 PM

I got into them about 2 and a half years ago because I saw the name somewhere (I forget where) and then remembered it a few days later. Downloaded like two songs and then bought SSTB.

Pazz 12-30-2005 10:17 PM
I was gonan buy the SSTB re-issue yesterday, then KIF got it just ahead of me !!
It's pretty cool, I like Elf Tower New Mexico.
Lets all say how we got into Coheed.
When I first saw the Favor House Atlantic video, I was like, "Meh..it's pop punkish and I don't really like that stuff usually, but their name is too weird for a regular pop band and that one dude's hair is cool." Also, Mtv actually had good bands playing that summer, like Modest Mouse (their old stuff is better though) and Franz Ferdinand, so I decided that I would take the risk and buy their album.

So about a month later, I get a chance to go shopping and I pick up In Keeping Secrets, and pop it into the cd player in the car. At first I thought I had just bought another shit cd, because I have a knack to buying crap. I listen to about the whole thing by the time I get home, and I'm not pleased.

For about two weeks, I don't touch it, then I go to this day camp thing, which I only went to because there were some hot chicks. This one girl told me she loved Coheed, so I started listening to it and sharing the headphones with her and shtuff. :thumb: Yeah, so then I start getting into them more, and I start getting into her more, if you know what I mean, but you do, so I won't use that smiley.

So that pretty much covers it.

How I got into Coheed:
My first Warped Tour was in 2003. Coheed was not in my town, but I still went, and has a blast. I noticed they were selling sampler CDs, but I had no money for one, so a while later, I looked for it on the net, and sure enough, there it was... or something like it. But anyways, on this compilation was Delirium Trigger, the first Coheed song I ever heard. At first I thougt "Yeah, it's ok" but at the time I was into the more poppy Pop-Punk (to be honest, I watched Simple Plan at Warped Tour that year). But at the time, I had just barely started playing guitar, but as more time passed, I started getting more and more serious and started realizing how important musicianship was, and so I started enjoy more music that was difficult rather than poppy. So one day, I was looking for some new stuff to try and learn, so I could further myself, and here I stumble upon delirium Trigger once again. But this time, instead of thinking "Yeah, it's ok", my mind went straight to "Holy sh*t... this is fantastic". And from that moment on, I was a Coheed freak. Within the next week, I had both SSTB and IKSSE:3, both of which I now know how to play on guitar to their entirety, with the only exceptions of the hidden tracks, cause to be honest, they do no interest me. I also know about half of Good Apollo.
And since I'm starting to learn bass, Coheed is a good place to start off from. As it is with drumming, too.

I have to say... that's kind of lame. No disrespect but... that seriously is just a little bit lame.
Not to mention the fact that calling Modest Mouse and Franz Ferdinand good music didn't help you at all either.

Yeah, I know it's a little lame, but at least I love them now, and not because she likes them. And Modest Mouse's old stuff beats their new stuff, by far. Franz Ferdinand is alright, better than what Mtv usually played. For all I know, now they could be playing country and I would be oblivious, I haven't watched tv in ages.

I've just got into CO&CA. Delerium Trigger seems to be my favourite so far.

Sound Boy 01-03-2006 02:56 PM

Claudio just broke his hand over the holidays...he was sparring with his brother (his brother is a boxer, apparently) and fractured his strumming hand and has to have a cast on it for 3 weeks and then physical therapy. they cancelled a buttload of europe tour dates.

Mute Print 01-03-2006 02:59 PM

Here's a short article from Absolutepunk for anyone who wants to read it:

http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=105390&highlight=coheed
Due to Claudio of Coheed And Cambria breaking his hand, the mainland European Coheed And Cambria/Thrice dates had to be cancelled. They will however be rescheduled for April. The UK dates will still continue as planned.
DepthsOfDreams555 01-03-2006 03:00 PM

Ya I read that on a myspace bulletin he was boxing with his younger brother haha.

Mute Print 01-03-2006 04:09 PM

Here's a better article from Absolutepunk. It includes the postponed dates:

http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=105600
The holidays lead to family fun, and in this case, too much fun.

In his first night home from a long year of touring, lead guitarist and vocalist Claudio Sanchez of the New York rock band, Coheed and Cambria suffered a broken hand while "sparring" with his brother, Matthew. Matthew Sanchez is a boxer, and was clearly the winner of this one. The injury, fittingly nicknamed a "boxer's fracture", involves the ring finger and small finger of the right hand. The injury requires 3 weeks in a cast and a week or two of physical therapy.

Brother Matthew has inspired two characters in the Coheed and Cambria concept records; “Matthew” is a son of Coheed and Cambria in the story, and “Inferno” is the brother of Coheed, who is a Prize Fighter and modeled loosely after the younger Sanchez.

The band will be forced to postpone a portion of their upcoming tour dates in Europe with Thrice. Tickets should be held on to until new dates are announced in the coming week. They can then be refunded or exchanged for the new date. The make up shows will not be with Thrice, however, all shows in the UK will not be affected and will go on as planned.

The following dates have been postponed.

11 Antwerp, Belgium - Hof Der Lo
12 Amsterdam, NE - Melkweg
13 Hamburg, DE - Grosse Freiheit
14 Koln, DE - LMH
16 Oslo, NO - Rockerfeller
17 Stockholm, SW - Debaser
19 Copenhagen, DN - Vega
20 Berlin, DE - SO36
22 Munich, DE - Backstage
23 Vienna, AU - Arena
24 Zurich, SZ - Rollstofflager
25 Bologna, Itl - Astragon
26 Milan, Itl - Transilvania

Claudio sends his deepest apologies, as does the rest of the band, and promise to make these dates up in February in big style.
Sound Boy 01-03-2006 08:27 PM

that was the EXACT Myspace post so they are the same

Fish 01-03-2006 08:53 PM

DepthsOfDreams555 01-03-2006 09:52 PM

I know I'm glad that didn't happen for US dates.

Everyone has been saying Coheed sounds like Rush, and since my dad likes Rush I decided to give Coheed & Cambria a try on him. I gave him my iPod to him after dinner. He listened to about 3 songs off of IKSOSE:3. He said they sound a lot like Rush and he likes them. I think I might get him one of their CDs for his birthday.:p

DepthsOfDreams555 01-05-2006 09:06 PM

Ya my dad likes Coheed too. I lent him my cop of IKS and he listened to it for a few days and he asked me to burn it for him....hes a big Rush fan as well.

Pazz 01-05-2006 09:14 PM

It would be sweet if my dad got into them, because than I could listen to good music while driving places and not my damn mom's Women & Songs shit.

Ya my dad likes a few of the bands that I like....he likes Coheed and he really likes a band called The Format if you have ever heard of them. He also likes Funeral for a Friend but just "Hours" not "Casually Dressed..."

I'm going to try and get my dad into Thrice and Thursday too.

I got a picture of my dad holding my iPod while listening to Coheed.

DepthsOfDreams555 01-05-2006 09:22 PM

My dad might like Thrice but I know he wouldn't like Thursday.

DJ Ducksauce 01-05-2006 09:29 PM

I can't seem to get into Thursday. All I have are the live songs at CBGB's. I don't really like the vocals to much. :(

deathscreamingsheep 01-06-2006 10:36 AM

Heh... for me it's my mum who likes my music: Rush, Coheed, Avenged Sevenfold, Dogs, Rites of Spring, Bruce Springstein etc etc My dad's an old blues and blues rock only sort of guy, though he is partial to a bit of Motorhead and he did get me into Thin Lizzy's Quadrophenia (my first concept album).

Ya his vocals are different but they are a little harsh on those songs you should get a CD.

deathscreamingsheep 01-06-2006 04:12 PM

By the way, is there going to be a graphic novel for In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3? I know that there's one for the other two albums.

DepthsOfDreams555 01-06-2006 04:16 PM

There isn't a graphic novel for Second Stage Turbine Blade there are just two comics. They were supposed to do comics for everything then release a huge graphic novel. I heard that they are next releasing a graphic novel for In Keeping Secrets next, I'm not positive though.
