Corey's vocals suck now, they sucked back then. Get over it. Slipknot's musically decent.

badtaste 03-18-2007 05:54 AM

Go Slipknot. What does everyone think of middle aged men dressing up in masks and singing fairly amusing music?

Now is the best time for them to drop their **** and write decent music (BECAUSE I KNOW THEY CAN!!!). Yes. Seriously.
Oh my god I haven't seen this thread in forever.

Their new DVD sucks. Discuss.
I dunno, I liked the interviews. The live performances were all from outdoor festivals, which I really didnt like too much.

Haven't seen it, don't think I'll buy it any time soon. Any goss?

They have some good songs. Three Nil is pretty cool.

alytee123 03-19-2007 04:33 PM

If they dropped the whole mask wearing stuff on the next release then it would be stupid cause it would've made it pointless all these years.

Grumma 03-19-2007 05:32 PM

But then we could listen to all the people bitch about them selling out :p (which IMO they wouldnt be).

Personally I think they just need to take a different direction/approach with their music. Maybe try a few different ideas. Softer songs, more progressive influenced songs etc etc

Thor 03-19-2007 06:09 PM

I'm sure that's what they'll do. They've probably come to realize that the nu-metal fad is gone and move on to more complex material.

What they'll do with Sid and Craig, I'm not really sure. It's not like Craig did anything to begin with, anyways.

RouteOne 03-19-2007 06:10 PM

I remember I was obsessed with them in 6th grade. I made a mask and everything. Oh to be young hahaha

Thor 03-19-2007 06:11 PM

Yeah, that takes me back to 8th grade, minus the mask. But I did have all of their CDs, DVDs, and 2 shirts.

Kage 03-19-2007 06:13 PM

Craig added awesome percussion to the band.

Thor 03-19-2007 06:14 PM

Craig was the sampler dude, and I rarely heard any samples. But at least he had the spikey gimp mask.

RouteOne 03-19-2007 06:14 PM

My favorite back in the day was 5 I think....the sample guy? I just liked the fact that he never really did anything lol.

comptonassrobert 03-19-2007 06:15 PM

Oh Slipknot, where have the self-titled and Iowa days gone :'[

Kage 03-19-2007 06:16 PM
Craig was the sampler dude, and I rarely heard any samples. But at least he had the spikey gimp mask.
Oh that's right. Yeah, I have no idea what he added. The only sample I can readily think of is that "Here comes the pain" or whatever from (sic). Although I think there are others buried in there now that I think about it.

I was thinking of Chris when I said that btw. He's got the coolest mask imo.

Thor 03-19-2007 06:17 PM

Chris had the crazy nose that he always felt the need to jerk off.

And I never got why Sid couldn't just do all the samples. He's a DJ...isn't that what they're supposed to do?

Kage 03-19-2007 06:18 PM

Yeah, I think he was just there because they were all buddies and didn't want to leave anyone out.

I haven't listened to the S/T in forever.

Grumma 03-19-2007 06:19 PM

The guys that rolled around on stage in the Wait and Bleed clip were my faves :p

Kage 03-19-2007 06:23 PM

They wouldn't be the same band without Chris and Shawn.

Did you get a name change or something? Sorry, but I don't recoginise you =P

They've given Craig the keyboards. Heck, at least he has an excuse for being in a band now. haha

Nah, no worries. Pretty sure I was badtaste back then. Just remember chatting with you back in the day (I can't even remember what we chatted about...).

badtaste 08-03-2007 01:33 AM

*cough

So... are there any bands out there comparable to MFKR era Slipknot?

Been listening to MFKR again recently. It pains me to see that Paul owned the bass back in the day (but doesn't show off his chops these days). I even checked out mfkr1.com again, and looked at their pics: Paul played his bass high back then! Respekt.

Tillius 08-06-2007 11:50 PM

I was disappointed in MFKR.

It had some nice stuff on there, but not as good as I was expecting.

Tyler 08-06-2007 11:53 PM

MFKR isn't that good. Random slap bass, bad rapping about nintendo, etc. Who cares.

Angmar 08-06-2007 11:56 PM

Slipknot is the only nu-metal band that I still like from when I was starting to get into metal.
