Oi_bass_77 01-15-2005 02:45 PM

whats the point of this thread

honkybrewster 01-15-2005 02:52 PM

To have conversations that would make stupid individual threads otherwise. Nothing wrong with that.

The Point of the Community Thread

The community thread was created by JmE a year ago as a way to bring the punk forum together as a community, because that's one of the main things of punk, community. It was a place where people could hold conversations free of making spam threads that would be closed because they were off topic. In this thread you could ask for advice, complain about your school day, let loose, and get to know your fellow posters.

But every good thing is corrupted. As our community grew larger, many forums became jealous. Pop-punk then made their own type thread, but without the spirit, their reasoning was to create a large thread to beat us. Being the competitive people we are, we took their challenge. With the help of spam and JmE's modding, we did capture the largest thread. But with that ruined the orginal.

The community thread was brought back again, for another try. It was closed many times due to people just acting like idiots, and not actually holding a conversation, it became a postcount++ plus. This second one was closed for good and disappeared from the page.

Others were made, some scumming to the same fate, and some being hacked. There was Silver's Place of Lesiure, which lasted awhile until it too was ruined. After that we went a long time without a community thread.

But when we recieved new mods who were dedicated to brining it back and keeping it clean, here we are, returned to our former glory. So far so good if you ask me, we get a couple of idiots (like the person who responded this thread is for postcount only, and the person who just posted to up their postcount), but hopefully they will be taken care of.

In Conclusion, this thread is for what its name states, community. We are a community, and we should stay that way.

An argument's still better than that.

Jessizzle 01-15-2005 04:18 PM

i can read minds.

albert_bass 01-15-2005 04:20 PM
An argument's still better than that.
Yeah, I agree...I was just joking. I mean there's nothing wrong with a bit of spam as long as it's just a bit.

lynch_me 01-15-2005 04:25 PM

Nah, I don't think there should be any spam, It's obviously just a chain reaction. This thread should be for conversation, and not people saying " I can read minds" and getting carried away.
