wait, theres no way its the tour shirt though

So I was reading through the March newsletter for the second time, and I found some interesting things.
After reading the news update about Blair being the subject of Rosetta Stoned, I had begun to notice some parallels. Keep in mind that the March newsletter is also the one where you run your mouse over the Answer and watch it turn into Rosetta Stoned. Here are some interesting things I noticed that might or might not have any significance. "And then I saw Dave. At first I thought it was just a mirage, but there he was in his van with the Phish sticker, door beads, and embroidered tapestries. I recognized him by his frizzy hair, dressed in a tie-dye tee, Baja hoodie and hemp pants, with the familiar Birkenstocks..." The last line of the newsletter also caught my attention:"But I had to wonder whether or not if he ever managed to separate the true vibrations from the discords if someone would have to change him like a baby." God damn s'hit the bed? I haven't really searched for any other parallels or allusions, I wasn't intending to in the first place, I just happened to notice those things. I could just be noticing things because I have Rosetta Stoned in mind, or they could actually be allusions. Who knows. I just thought I'd throw this out there. |
Aha! The difference between my shirt and the one at Hot Topic is that mine has the cities they stopped at on the tour. Take that Hot Topic anti-hipsters!
Where do you live in Maryland?
Bel Air, its about 25 minutes NE of Baltimore, in Harford County. |
can someone link me to those bootlegged videos of TOoL playing vicarious and Jambi live plz :D
|
Can anyone here find me a picture with the new logo just on a plain transparent or black background? I keep trying to cut it out of the album cover with Photoshop and I just can't get it right.
|
new logo?
as in the word "TOOL" with the front cover in the background? |

Hit me up on chat when ya find these man. The new CD is growing on me more and more. Right in Two is a favorite, love the lyrics. Sad thing is, I wrote a song a year or so ago with a similiar theme (lyric wise), so I can ball that up and trash it. |
Everyone go to this thread, and for those of you that know what it is, the link to the CD is already up.

Kinda random, but I just found my Lateralus CD after losing it ages ago, listening to Lateralus the song, and I am buzzing, like I am on the biggest natural high ever, its awesome, I forgot how good this song/cd actually is!
|
The last two albums have had one stand out performer imo (of course the others are great too), Lateralus being Danny and 10 000 days being Justin.
|
Justin definetly owns the new cd. And he even uses his fingers on a track.

Psh rubbish. All the members stand out in various ways on each album, you can't tell me that Justin's work on Lateralus wasn't stand out, I mean come on; Schism, The Grudge, Lateralus, Disposition, Parabola. Danny was amazing on Lateralus technically, but to be honest, on every album he's played more technical stuff than the other members bar maybe Opiate, the drumming on 10,000 Days is more complex than the basswork, which is good, very good, very creative, but if you're talking technical the drums win... Dosn't mean he's more stand-out though, seeing as the other members rock hard at their parts. |
You see the tabs for Tool, and it looks easy, but try playing a Tool song, not riff but song. It's not that easy, the rhythms are hard to follow along to.

Definitely true, when my band tried to cover a couple of their songs, I heard the guitar part and was like "That can't be too hard to play along to..." and when it came down to actually doing it, I was essentially clueless as to what to do. Maybe it's just because I suck at drums, but it holds true that the rhythms are ridiculous. |
Yeah...I often get stuck on some of the material.
Wow...has anyone seen Sin City? I was blown away, so brilliant. |
Yeah...I often get stuck on some of the material.
Do you remember that Tool did weird stuff like use the fibonacci sequence on the syllables of the verses in Lateralus? This is even crazier and cooler, and you have to follow a couple of steps to get it.
The mystery of the filler "Vigniti tres" and the two "Wing" parts being a bit similar to each other now make sense, as well as the cover of the album. If you play Wings pt1+Vigniti Tres at the same time as Wings pt 2, you realize that the 2 songs are equal in length to Wings pt2 ... That means that they are meant to be synchronized! The frickin' band synchronized 3 songs!!!! The cover of the album has two faces looking sideways and one big face looking towards you. MAybe the two faces are the 2 smaller songs and the bigger face is the long song ... combined result in one big head. Just check it out ... the combination is incredibly well done. I am breathless!!! The sync with vigniti tres with the second half of wings pt2 is probably the coolest part, but the first half is really cool too with different riffs in syncs, talk and response of voices, complicated drumming, etc. The problem is to do it right. The method I use is very hard. I put my headphones in first. I put my Tool disc on the computer, and use windows media player on just track 4 (wings pt2), then transform tracks 3 and 11 into mp3 files in your disc (downloading it may not work since the tracks may vary in length, unless you use something like torrent, stick with mp3 transformation since it's legal though). Ok, now that you have the mp3s ... click play on those two files using winamp. Now, here comes the tricky part. Press play on the winamp file then pause it. Now, move the winamp windows in a way so that it's very close to the play button of window media player. Now get the time bar of winamp to the far left (the beginning of the wings pt1) and press play, immediately pressing play on the windows media player one. There will be like a 1/10 second difference and is not very noticeable at all. Maybe there's another way ... if you have two CD drives, maybe you could burn your 10,000 days CD twice (one with wings pt2 and one with the other two songs) play the two at the same time and you won't have to do any tricky stuff.
So has anyone heard of this or tried it?? i tried it and it synced up like 70 Percent but then again mist of wings 1 and viniti tres is quiet. |
It was alright. Nothing mindblowing though.
|
Yeah.. maybe it's possible to sync it up better than I've heard it though.
|
Which do you like better, Jambi or Right In Two? I'd definitely have to go with Jambi. Even though that one part in Right In Two with the cool solo over that awesome bass riff is one of my favorite parts of the whole cd, there's something about Jambi that i can't get enough of.
|
Jambi, for reasons stated previously in this thread
In other news, a huge rumor regarding the release date and content of the “Vicarious” DVD has surfaced. Supposedly, it will be released on June 6 (06/06/06 aka 666) and will also contain a video for “Wings for Marie/10,000 Days” (18+ mins.) And as another shocker, the rumor states that there will be 4 concert recordings (3 from 2002, 1 from 2006). If this is true, this is fantastic news. -EyeChakra
Discuss how this would fucking rock. And: Right in Two > Jambi. So beautiful, I can't get enough. |
the syncing thing sounds alittle far fetched. tool does do very amazing things but i don;t see where they see the purpose in that. i think your reading a little too deeply into it...but at least you're trying stuff.
i really like "the pot" alot. ALOT. i saw them in philly last weds. and needless to say it was the happiest i've been in a long time. saw them at the tower theatre and they blew the roof off the place. great time. |

I'll probably be in Ocean City on the 6th (it'll be cool watching the Atlantic turn to blood), so I'll most likely pick up the DVD if that's when it's out.
Unless the skeleton demons get me first. |
