I'm one of the people who thinks that Abbey Road is their best album. The album that I think it's a bit overrated is Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Yes, it did a lot for the music scene, but it's hardly their best. Sgt. Pepper is basically a McCartney album, he really was the one being creative at that time, and Lennon was writting some of his worst stuff (I despise Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, personally, I find it boring and redundant). None of the band members were at their best, and the most interesting song in that album is the one that people overlook the most; Within You Without You.

Now in Abbey Road the band was at its best. Finally Lennon began to write again as he did, McCartney has his best bass playing on that album (Something and Come Together), Harrison has his most popular and best composition of basically his whole songwritting career on that album. Even Ringo has his best song there, though it shows he wasn't a very good songwritter to start of with. And the last half of the album is brilliant. It also contains the best vocal harmonies by the band (Because and even Sun King is a testament to this).

That's why I think Abbery Road is their best album. Though the The Beatles (White Album) is my favourite.

Me has a complete different veiw than you but whatever "opinions".

slowhand 03-25-2005 01:34 PM

Yes, I suppose that's why we are humans, eh?

BludgeonySteve 03-25-2005 01:35 PM

The White album has to be my favorite.

Badmoon 03-25-2005 01:37 PM

I've been trying to record "Friend of the Devil" on the recording software I downloaded off of Ramsey's thread. I'm trying to add the opening solo right now.

Damn right.

BludgeonySteve 03-25-2005 01:39 PM

Abey Road just can't compare to it song wise. The White album being a double kind of make it unfair in that way.

^ Cool are you going to post it?

There are some very weak songs on it. MMT is my favorite Beatles album.

Badmoon 03-25-2005 01:45 PM
^ Cool are you going to post it?
Maybe, I'd like to have some time to play around with it first.

You guys should all download it; It's really easy to use.

Sure you can. Quality-wise, of course. There are some very weak songs in the White Album, most of them being McCartney's, but I find it's imperfection to be perfect. It has a little of everything and it's a very interesting album.

Of course, While My Guitar Gently Weeps it's there, so that makes for most of the other songs.

jpj 03-25-2005 04:42 PM

Is it a movie, too? Or did you rent a book?

Badmoon 03-25-2005 05:11 PM

It is a book.
Someone who is around 50 just posted it the Beatles thread... it's just so awkward...
I talk to my parents about their era of music, it's not that akward.

I'm sure most of us do too.

I think for him it's awkward to see that teenagers listened to the Beatles and not rap music.

Distant Echoes 03-25-2005 08:25 PM

Our local radio station is giving out box sets of bands if you call in for certain "easter agg" songs this weekend. I wanna win so bad...and since im a subscribed member, i know three of the six songs to call for...

EDIT: the bands their giving away in box sets are The Eagles, Queen, George Harrison, ZZ Top and Grateful Dead.

Good stuff there :thumb:

AcidQueen 03-25-2005 08:26 PM

 Do you get to choose which box set you want? and Do they give any hints as to what the songs are? But thats awesome anyway.

Oh well it's still cool they are broadcasting it.

Distant Echoes 03-25-2005 08:43 PM

I think you get to choose. Im not sure though. The only notice you get is sometimes that 'we will play it within the hour' and right before the song, they tell you to call.

Some dude today got an Eagles box set i think, after hearing I am the Walrus
No one here likes Revolver?
Love Revolver. I find it so much better than Rubber Soul. Really a fine album.

Distant Echoes 03-25-2005 08:57 PM

Revolvers a great album...but it does go through some competition with Rubber soul. I like Revolver better though, just better songs.

Sgt. Peppers i think is their best, next to the white album maybe

ATM 03-25-2005 09:01 PM

I really like Rubber Soul.
