take brent off ignore
see this page put him back on ignore |
@adb
agnostic; a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or anything beyond material phenomena. to claim you are agnostic but then claim that belief in the supernatural is stupider than disbelief means you have a tendency to be atheistic, or a tendency to be an idiot. @tronn I edited it because it didn't make sense before; I made a typo. |
why do you feel the need to argue about the same things with different ppl every day adb
|
take brent off ignore
see this page put him back on ignore
I should probably do that |
nice false dichotomy and ad-hominem p13
another kid who can't argue also nice straw man too I never said belief in supernatural is stupid |
adb do you ever just take a step back and look at your life and think man i don't see anything
|
seriously, you guys need to learn how to read before jumping to conclusions
adb do you ever just take a step back and look at your life and think man i don't see anything
i see your sexay boday |
brent i think you need to accept jesus christ as your saviour
|
believing in supernatural
rational pick 1
not a strawman not to mention, you never seem to argue you just dismiss what people say |
nice false dichotomy and ad-hominem p13
another kid who can't argue also nice straw man too I never said belief in supernatural is stupid
it's cool how you can say imply but if anyone does it to you it's a mortal sin back to ignore have fun kids |
lets go over why p13 fails at arguing
false dichotomy - he implies you have to be either sided with theism or atheism when agnostic ad-hominem - "stupider" "idiot" |
belief in god
believing athiesm is as rational than theism or deism
being ignorant
 |
lets go over why p13 fails at arguing
false dichotomy - he implies you have to be either sided with theism or atheism when agnostic ad-hominem - "stupider" "idiot"
Actually, I implied that you are supposed to side with neither. That's the definition of agnostic I never said you were stupid, I said that you say that belief in the supernatural is less rational (ie. stupider) than disbelief in the supernatural. Then what I said was either this means you have a tendency to believe that there is nothing supernatural or you have a tendency to believe in irrantional things (ie be an idiot). |
I wish I could find someone on mx who can actually justify believing in god
I know a good argument for it and I'm not even theist how ignorant am I man |
I said that you say that belief in the supernatural is less rational (ie. stupider) than disbelief in the supernatural.
thing is, I never said this please, quote the post in this discussion where I did |
Jesus that was a bad edit :\ edit: fixed |
believing in supernatural
rational pick 1
how many times do I have to quote this? |
how many times do I have to quote this?
you only had to once to solidify your tomfoolery I never said anywhere in that statement that non-theist was rational, nor implied it I was responding to you; as a theist and a fan of science theism and science contradict eachother, they are not rational together |
that was the second time I quoted it
what is the polar opposite of belief in the supernatural? disbelief in the supernatural what is the opposite of rational? irrational if belief in the supernatural = irrational this implies that disbelief in supernatural = rational |
@adb

brent arguing
me posting pick 1 |
theism and science contradict eachother, they are not rational together
actually they don't contradict each other science is only concerned with naturalism, it doesn't concern itself with anything that can't be explained through a naturalistic view. science doesn't say that there is no supernatural realm, science just does not concern itself with the possibility of the existence of one then to say that there is a supernatural realm with a deity that works THROUGH naturalism is not a contradiction |
brent arguing
that was the second time I quoted it
what is the polar opposite of belief in the supernatural? disbelief in the supernatural what is the opposite of rational? irrational if belief in the supernatural = irrational this implies that disbelief in supernatural = rational
wow you really need to be educated what a false dichotomy is  |
actually they don't contradict each other
science is only concerned with naturalism, it doesn't concern itself with anything that can't be explained through a naturalistic view. it's perfectly logical then to say that there is a supernatural realm with a deity that works THROUGH naturalism.
its actually illogical to to say anything about stuff that is beyond the realm of logic its like talking about what taste looks like
wow you really need to be educated what a false dichotomy is
you need to take a math class  |
logic was probably a bad word choice. but my point remains, science doesn't actually contradict the existence of a deity
|
science doesn't say that there is no supernatural realm, science just does not concern itself with the possibility of the existence of one
thats the point, if you like science, you understand that the scientific method rules I've seen p13 say similar things about it you cannot use it to predict God's existence, so what logical medium do you use then? |
its actually illogical to to say anything that is beyond the realm of logic
its like talking about what taste looks like you need to take a math class
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reason "The terms " logic" or " logical" are sometimes used as if they were identical with the term "reason" or with the concept of being " rational" dont you look stupid now and uh, what does math have to do with anything |
thats the point, if you like science, you understand that the scientific method rules
I've seen p13 say similar things about it you cannot use it to predict God's existence, so what logical medium do you use then?
science and logic are inherently insufficient for verifying the existence of anything beyond the natural so any conclusions about the supernatural are irrational |
ur both idiots
/thread /commits suicide |
science doesn't actually contradict the existence of a deity
heard of the scientific method?
so any conclusions about the supernatural are irrational
which is why I'm agnostic BOY WHAT AN ENGAGING COVERSATION I need to get ready for work |
thats the point, if you like science, you understand that the scientific method rules
it does but only in the immediate world.
you cannot use it to predict God's existence, so what logical medium do you use then?
well I would say that you're right, there's no logical medium to determine whether or not a deity exists. however as I said science doesn't deny the possibility of the existence of the supernatural, so it's definitely possible to mix a logical worldview with one of "faith" |
heard of the scientific method?
the scientific method ignores the possibility of the existence of a supernatural realm so you cannot use the scientific method to disprove anything beyond the natural world |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reason
"The terms " logic" or " logical" are sometimes used as if they were identical with the term "reason" or with the concept of being " rational" dont you look stupid now and uh, what does math have to do with anything
see edit, for got 2 words (lookin stupid) and if you look at this mathematically (ie. logically): let "belief in the supernatural" = X let "disbelief in the supernatural" = -X (opposite of X, they are both vectors) if X = irrational, then -X = -irrational which =rational |
SO THEN WHAT DO YOU USE TO VERIFY GOD LUC
OH WAIT, YOU CAN'T z |
