I'm not sure what you'd consider them. They're kinda death metal mixed with technical metal, and they wrap it all together to form flowing "symphonies" of metal, I guess you could say?

I don't think that would solve anything. Sure, you'll make a thread, but it'll get closed. Again, it's very political. A lot of things go on behind-the-scenes. And just because there are a handful of mods that disagree with what's happened really isn't going to sway Jim to do something about it.

Just bite the bullet for now until something drastic happens, I guess. There's not much a regular user can do except be complacent.

Lord Abortion 10-20-2005 06:44 AM

It's wierd, I like mods I can actually see and talk to, not ones that just hide...

Actually, what riled me a little last night was mods holding conversations in closed threads, bumping them every time they post.

If they want to talk in secret, do it through IM, not bumping idiot threads with interesting titles.

What did beyondtheblueprint do to get banned?

Metal guitar, that piece I was talking about last night was 'Fantasia Para Un Gentilhombre', (Fantasy For A Gentleman) composed by Joaquin Rodrigo. The piece was actually written for Andres Segovia, and it was first played by Segovia with the San Fransisco Symphony Orchestra. It's a really cool piece, I heard it ClassicFM (radio station in UK for classical music), I'm trying to find a CD so I can have a go at transcribing it.
What did beyondtheblueprint do to get banned?
Check out Nick's post in the Banned Users thread in the Sputnikmusic forum.

If there's a prime example of a super over-extending his influence in another forum that he doesn't mod just to fulfill his own personal vendetta, it would be Nick in this case. Again, I don't care for btbp/Rudd/all those guys, but I also don't care for Nick. He thinks he's invincible because he got his own forum and then demanded to be made mod in it, yet there have been numerous threads saying how he's a terrible mod, that got to the point that both DBJ and Jeremy came into the thread? Right, right.

Either way, I shot Med and Damrod an e-mail explaining a few things, so hopefully they'll consider it.

Then again, I got one of those wonderful MAILER-DAEMON things telling me that Damrod's inbox is full. Great, thanks. It's probably filled with Hitler porn or something, that crazy German.

Ad Absurdum 10-20-2005 07:15 AM

That seems a little immature to be honest. I realise that DFelon puts alot of work into his reviews but I think they're unnecessarily long-winded, so a neg rating could be justified. He seems to be pissed off becuase he got some bad ratings, not really a just reason to ban someone.

This guy from my town (who was a bit of a dick) got hit by a car and died. Everyone's laughing about it and stuff, which I think is pretty disgusting, all these people getting their kicks out of a 17 year old boy dying.

Cain 10-20-2005 07:17 AM

I remember that thread (the DFelon one). If something as involved as that doesn't get a supermod demodded, I don't know what can. For a while both mx and DBJ seemed a little pissed and also a little surprised that so many users were having problems, which indicates to me that they don't check up on things like that much.

But did it do anything? Not really. DFelon just promised to be better, I think, even though he was still defending himself and bitching under his breath.

The only thing that pisses me off about these types of situations is the complacency factor. I wish that when users have problems with their moderators, more was done than a simple wringing out of an apology and promises from the moderator in question, after much strife and fairly agonizing debate from users.

I don't have a personal thing against DFelon, though, since I don't post in any of the areas that he mods, but everything I've seen both by him and against him from other users is pretty bad. I hate how he calls people "dumb cunts," as well. That post explaining why btb got banned really amounted to "I think my reviews are perfect and he lowered their rating, making them not appear as perfect as they are, so I'm gonna ban him."

Arucard 10-20-2005 07:44 AM

Not really. DBJ knows I disagree with who/how he mods, and he basically seems not to care.

Arucard 10-20-2005 09:04 AM

Does he just Mod the person with the biggest post count and elitist attitude?

Bartender 10-20-2005 09:07 AM

No, he mods the people he talks to/is friends with; Ken, NPC, Strum, Liberi, Simple Man..

I happen to agree with morrissey, though I don't think she should be a super yet (I don't think any of the new three should be).
Again, I was under the impression all the mods had been supered..
They have. They shouldn't have been, though.

Cain 10-20-2005 09:58 AM

I myself have found it slightly odd that four Pit/Site regs have been modded in the past few months--Strum, Liberi, Simple Man, morrissey--and this when Med wasn't even supered (and deserved it, he'd make a great Politics mod), and deserving users such as HeavyRiva haven't been modded at all. I mean, I know that morrissey and Liberi are really helpful users, but the other two? I mean, I may not have noticed the magnificent posting because I haven't been around long enough, but how does Simple Man become a super? I know users have petitioned for Rancid Dan to be made a punk mod. Why are all these ignored while DBJ's friends get supered, especially when the refrain (whenever a mod petition starts) that is constantly relied upon is "We don't want an overload, we don't need any new mods," etc.? And yet all these people get supered just because they're in the "in" crowd. I dunno. It just seems weird. I've been completely surprised by all of the past four modships, with the exception of Liberi. I am also for morrissey, but not as a super (yet). Simple Man and Strum I just don't get.

Someone can feel free to explain it to me, though. :)

EDIT: I didn't neccesarily have a problem with this, but now that I think about it it just seems unfairly skewed. There are plenty of deserving people that get overlooked or outright ignored for consideration in modships, and now even as they say "we have too many mods," three are made all at once, and at least one and maybe two have dubious (IMO) qualifications for the amount of power they're getting.

Jom 10-20-2005 10:02 AM
But how does Simple Man become a super?

DBJ's friends get supered... [a]nd yet all these people get supered just because they're in the "in" crowd.
No need to explain it to you, you already have the idea.
They have. They shouldn't have been, though.
Right. Everyone started as a local when he/she was first modded, and then moved up to a super. At least, that's how I remember it.

The reason why I made a "Med for super" post in Site a couple months ago is because I felt we needed another super with a STELLAR track record. Besides, he was already a Sputnikmusic mod, so giving him supering powers on MX wouldn't have been that big of a travesty, especially when you look at who's been supered recently.

I think that Dan, Moz, and SM are good people, but the logistics of how this happened is, to be frank, a load of crap. SM has a track record of saying he's leaving MX, and then coming back. Considering their histories, they shouldn't have gotten supered right away.

But you know what, it doesn't matter. I don't interact with them, and they don't mess with me. We all get along fine. It's just the mannerisms about how this was brought about that deserves questioning.

I got ignored, even when I talked to DBJ. Sorry, but I'm not going to call him "Jiji :-*" to try to get my way. I'm not going to hound him. It was an honest suggestion with a moderate amount of support.

But hey, it's politics. :)

Ad Absurdum 10-20-2005 10:08 AM
