Berk 05-08-2006 10:55 AM

Hey losers.
****, I got banned.

green242 05-08-2006 01:11 PM

I appologize for the ignorance. But I gutta learn this stuff sometime... Could someone explain this to me?
4 notes per hand with four count rest
8 notes per hand with four count rest
12 notes per hand with four count rest
16 notes per hand with four count rest
And yes, I am not very good at musical terminology. I am embarassed to say that I learned drums without knowing things such as this.

Josiah 05-08-2006 01:15 PM

put your metronome on like.. 65...

as quarters.

play 4 notes per click, wich is 1 beat of 16th notes. (4/4 - 4 beats ber messure, 4 notes per beep, this is common reference note value)

Now to your excerise..

play 1 beat of 16ths, rest for 1 beat, play 2 beats of 16ths, rest for 1 beat, play 4 beats of 16ths, rest for 1 beat, play 8 beats of 16ths, rest for 1 beat.

You can check out this thread http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=462641

for other simular excerises

green242 05-08-2006 01:59 PM

| | | ! | | | ! | | |
4 4 4 4 4 4

| | | ! | | | ! | | | ! | | | ! | | | !
4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4
| = click - ! = dong
4 = 4 strokes
And so on and so forth?
This is what I understand. |= click - ! = dong

green242 05-08-2006 02:00 PM

well sh!t that didn't come out right
But basically.. every click means one beat. so for the first exersize I would make 4 storkes on every second click. and for the second excersize I would make 4 strokes on 2 clicks then rest for a click. etc...

Josiah 05-08-2006 02:02 PM

Just count aloud.

1 2 3 4, with the clicks. The 1 or down beat is normally the different sound.

that's quarters, if you want to count 8th notes count

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +

if youw ant to count 16th notes, count

1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a

Maiden sold out?

The tickets have been on sale for ages here, although I got my tickets 5 minues after they went on sale :D

I think it helps that the place they're playing at is absolutely massive.

Corkofski 05-08-2006 03:51 PM

standing sold out lik 10 mins before i tried to buy

theres still seated, but that sucks.

i know i left it for ages, but my parents only just changed holiday plans so i could

Janeway 05-08-2006 04:36 PM

I'm hungry, sick, and I wanna play my saxophones.
Woof.

ofDooM 05-08-2006 04:46 PM

whats a 5 piece drumset that would cost about $2000 nowadays?

(not thinking to buy...just comparing to my dads deal he got for my set)

Janeway 05-08-2006 04:49 PM

The majority of standard birch kits.

Can someone tell me what the hell a mode is?
All I know is how to create a counterpoint melody in them, and that the mode dictates the starting and ending notes. That's it.
It's fricken' confusing.

Double Bass Jim 05-08-2006 04:55 PM

It's the use of different scales within a key signature that gives its tone. Example... Someone like satch is a dorian mode freak and plays in the dorian mode 99% of the time. Alot of it has to do with which notes you lay on that give it that signature sound.

You have flamenco music which uses phyrgian mode ect ect... It's how scales are applied within a musical setting.

Berk 05-08-2006 04:55 PM

I told my mom that my kit sucks.
She got mad and tols me that I dont appreciat anything in life.

Janeway 05-08-2006 05:02 PM

Oh.
I guess that makes sense. Atleast more.
You'd think it would have dawned on my theory teachers pretty little head to inform us of what modes are in the first place, but I guess not.

And I tell my mom that all the time.
She says the same thing, but goes out and buys me a new instrument.

Double Bass Jim 05-08-2006 05:07 PM

Your better off learning theory on your own, you can sit down and play and read up on things and get a better understanding of what it all means.

Good teachers are hard to find for that sorta thing, I know in middle school our music teacher was excellent, she knew how to teach theory really well where it was easy to understand and let us sit down and play everything.
