In other news, I have come to realize it's incredibly difficult to write black metal these days that isn't boring. The riffs that I do have that are badass clash with each other too much, leaving me only able to work with the boring riffs.

It's not that. It's that I'm coming up with some interesting and cool riffs, but they don't go together....transition difficulties, tbh. I've never been good at writing transitions/tempo changes/etc, so usually I abandon transitions altogether and just come up with a different riff that the original flows into well enough.

I can't count how many good riffs I've thrown away because I haven't been able to figure out how to transition into them from another well enough...

So I've been left with songs that flow well but are thus extremely boring; e.g., 5-6 minutes of just different trem picking patterns and straight blast beating (with a mindlessly shredding solo in between).

Having a live drummer to work with would help a lot methinks, but extremely good bm drummers are practically non-existant.

Have a drummer would definitely help tenfold. I would put off your bm preference and just get one who's good.

Well, yea. What I meant was someone who can play fast (cleanly) and possibly blast...but even finding a decently fast drummer who isn't sloppy is proving to be a challenge...

You just have to find the right flavor really. Most are pretty horrible tasting though.

yesterday i walked to the mall, bought some cds and then walked back. took me a couple hours

i got home at like six, played sunn o))) loud and went to sleep
