I am going to a show tonight. Good stuff. A friends band is playing with Aloha. Any of you know Aloha?

br3ad_man 08-19-2006 06:33 PM

V Festival is supposed to be coming to Australia this year. I hope it has a good lineup.

ATM 08-19-2006 06:46 PM

I'm going to VFest \m/

Maybe I'll see you sexymuffin.

sr800bkBassist 08-19-2006 07:11 PM

any Portland Oregon or Seattle Washington MXers?

Daniel! 08-19-2006 07:18 PM

This new orange background is sweet.

sweboy 08-19-2006 07:20 PM

Orange? Blasphemy! Keep it real, keep it blue.

Daniel! 08-19-2006 07:21 PM

This is the first time I've tried anything but blue, and I'm thinking I might switch back because this orange is putting me out of my comfort zone. And I can't have that.

sr800bkBassist 08-19-2006 07:38 PM

the orange is kinda cool, but the layout itself is really jumbled looking, compared to the others.

sr800bkBassist 08-19-2006 08:26 PM

btw, am i the only one here who can't access the alt/indie forum itself?

sweboy 08-19-2006 08:37 PM

You're getting the "can't add cookies to the jar"-error? Personally I haven't got it for a while, and have no problems reaching the alt/indie forum or any threads in it.

sr800bkBassist 08-19-2006 08:43 PM

how come that only happens in alt/indie?

those R&Mers deserve it more !
:p

Glitterati 08-19-2006 08:49 PM

I'm back from vacationing in the interior of British Columbia. It sucked, I managed to make an idiot of myself by throwing up during dinner at my grandpa's house.

While I was there, I made a resolution that when school resumes next month to not be a music snob anymore. after all, not everyone lives on a musical diet consisting of only leonard cohen pink floyd and tom waits.

thats all for now.

Like I said in a previous post (which got deleted under unknown circumstances... o.O), it's most likely the music industry trying to stop us from discussing alternative music.

To be continued..?

hmmmm, good point. all these bands that are "independent" of record companies are deffinitely a threat to their business....

Rusty Shackleford 08-19-2006 09:29 PM

Hello! :D :D :D :D

asdf 08-19-2006 11:15 PM

I'm in a really good mood because someone who's in the band that beat my band at the school's battle of the bands (used to word band too much in this sentence) is bummed because my band called it quits. He says that I need to form something, because we were really good. He said that his stuff is really generic, but our stuff took talent and he was really impressed.

Which just makes me feel good, because everyone at my school loves their band, but for the 6 months my band was together, we got much less recognition.

It also makes me miss being in a band :(

metalicajaymz 08-20-2006 12:45 AM

my band sucks!

Zappa 08-20-2006 01:18 AM

Me (on synthesizers) and my friend (on electronic drumkit) had a show tonight. 11 songs in about 25 minutes, all completely improvised. We have a lot of nerve.

sexymuffin 08-20-2006 01:43 AM

that sounds interesting.

depending on who was watching the show it could've gone really well or really bad. some people just don't dig that kind of thing
did they dig that kind of thing?

biografiend 08-20-2006 09:54 AM

Interesting indeed.

I miss all my friends at college :(.

Zappa 08-20-2006 12:40 PM

There weren't many people in the audience. We played first on a four band bill, so not a lot of people had showed up yet.

My dad took video of the whole set on a digital camera, but the camera was set to "compact" video, so the images to accompany the music are pretty much useless. I edited all the audio down to just music (without applause, banter, or dead air), though, and it actually sounds really good. Kind of like Miles Davis Electric plus live 60s Zappa plus Sonic Youth plus electronic indie pop.

PECOAE 08-20-2006 12:49 PM

Put it up somewhere!

Let's hear it.

asymm 08-20-2006 01:08 PM

Definitely, I'd love to hear it Zappa.

sexymuffin 08-20-2006 01:10 PM

ugh alex is lying i just heard it.

it sounds like a quadrapalegic smashing his head against the keyboard becuase he's pissed off that he can't cover "Mad World" by gary jules anymore.
