Prolyphic & Reanimator. The guy's flow is a little grating but it's a quality album.

Also gave the new Sun Kil Moon a shot. For the first 7 songs I was ready to declare it album of the year and all sorts but by the end of the record I was just so bored.

Dies Irae 07-08-2008 08:32 AM

i need to get that prolyphic album it be looks decent

Cocteau Twins - Treasure
Amusement Parks on Fire - Out of the Angeles.

Treasure is really good, one of the best things I've heard in a while. Out of the Angeles is alright, not as good as their debut album.

Radiohead - Pablo Honey

For all the years I've been listening to Radiohead I never gave this a proper listen. Doing so for a friend.

Pink Floyd - Meddle

Iluvatar 07-08-2008 07:46 PM

Beck- Modern Guilt

surprisingly good. probably his best since Sea Change although Guero was pretty good.

Time 07-08-2008 07:56 PM

I need to hear that.

niobium 07-08-2008 08:09 PM
downloaded capn jazz alphabet thing. gonna take a while just to listen to once, let alone begin to know which song is which. but they all sound pretty good so far.
my first kinsella band was american football which is absolutely flawless

i think i jumped into cap'n jazz a little too quickly. it actually seems too esoteric for me, at least for the couple songs i heard on the first listen. although i did like owls somewhere in the middle of the other two.

i had the american football album but only liked a couple songs (probably the same ones everyone else likes the most)

capn jazz first listen-through: still very cool, but gonna take a while to familiarize myself with it.

Iluvatar 07-08-2008 09:06 PM

analphabetantholopology or whatever definitely gets worse at it goes on.

the first 5-10 songs are classic though

iarescientists 07-08-2008 09:12 PM

yeah i just listen up until "Take On Me"

and then I listen to the acoustic "Ooh Do I Love You" whenever i listen to it which is often because Cap'n Jazz ****ing rule

Iluvatar 07-08-2008 09:13 PM

yeah actually up to Take On Me is where the record is really good then its just long and tedious

iarescientists 07-08-2008 09:18 PM

Well obviously since up until Take On Me is their actual LP release so it's more focused and **** duh

YDload 07-08-2008 09:19 PM

any double-disc album that you attempt to listen to in one sitting (which you can do if its on your comp.) is going to get tedious. you just gotta keep your library on shuffle so you can approach later-album songs out of context. in this case it's actually a good thing because youre not exhausted from having listened to thirty-five similar songs before it.

even doing that there is an obvious disparity in the quality of songs on their discog.

I mean A-ha is a singles band after all!

YDload 07-08-2008 09:22 PM

it's not as bad as people were saying it was.

Undisco Kidd 07-08-2008 09:26 PM

i just got Fear of a Black Planet. definitely diggin' that lately. Otherwise, the new ratatat and a bunch of classical stuff.

cbmartinez 07-08-2008 09:34 PM

the new beck is amazing

cbmartinez 07-08-2008 09:34 PM

been listening to that and the new Game, Nas, N.E.R.D. albums. also Summerteeth by Wilco, "I'm Always In Love" is def top 5 Wilco songs now and "A Shot In The Arm" is incredible. oh and Louder Than Bombs

iarescientists 07-08-2008 09:42 PM
no not yet, it like downloaded almost all the way and then stopped
oh ****

Undisco Kidd 07-08-2008 09:43 PM
they aren't.
yeah one glance at their wiki shows that.
What is a N*E*R*D? N*E*R*D stands for No-one Ever Really Dies. The Neptunes are who we are and N*E*R*D is what we do. It's our life. N*E*R*D is just a basic belief, man. People's energies are made of their souls. When you die, that energy may disperse but it isn't destroyed.
my god that is stupid.

Correction 07-08-2008 09:55 PM
the new beck is amazing
yeah, it's so much better than i thought it would be

cbmartinez 07-08-2008 10:00 PM

yeah best album of the year so far for me, blew me away. I love "Profanity Prayers," reminds me a lot of "Bodysnatchers."

the one song "anti matter" on the new NERD is pretty good, check it out on songza
