I am also very sorry to have caused all of the anger and hatred, as well as this great rift and division of interest and opinion in the mighty Classic Rock thread. I must now commit ritual Seppuku.

So far my favorite song by them is "Witchi Tai To"

Heh, I could easily tell that to be Lennon without even giving a second thought. He is awesome.

I enjoy Rush, but Lennon>Rush.

In fact, Lennon>all

Badmoon 03-24-2005 09:11 PM

Er, they both kind of suck.

jpj 03-24-2005 09:16 PM

I just realized that in the middle of Mule they go into Who Do You Love. I didn't even notice when I was there.

slowhand 03-24-2005 09:20 PM

David Gilmour is a Harrison fan.

This photo proves it.

In case you don't know, the shirt he is wearing is George Harrison's Dark Horse. Dark Horse is Harrison's 3rd solo album (it recieved horrible reviews, since in this one he started to experiment with jazz and other sort of music, going away from his Beatle image and so it was rampage by the critics. Though today it might be Harrison's most fascinating body of works), the name of his record label (Dark Horse Records distributed by A&M) and his first and only major tour.

Sorry, but I thought it was interesting. I'll stop now.

So who is it in your avatar? If you haven't already said

Badmoon 03-24-2005 09:51 PM

Three members of the Aquarium Rescue Unit.

In the middle is the creative leader Col. Bruce Hampton (You may have seen him on Sling Blade as Morris). To the left is Jimmy Herring (One of my favorite guitar players) and to the right is Jeff Sipe (Amazing drummer).

They were one the pioneer Jam Bands (I say that while ignoring the Grateful Dead/Allmans/etc for the reason that they were not labeled that term till Phish, ARU, and Panic came around.) in the 80's/90's. Unfortunately, they some how got forgotten.

P.S. Cat Stevens use to be cool. How can such a fantastic musician/writer become so corrupt? :(

jpj 03-24-2005 09:57 PM

What the hell's he been doing? I just remember hearing that he got deported awhile ago, but I didn't know what for.

Bruce Hampton looks like Allen Woody.

Badmoon 03-24-2005 09:59 PM

No, Allen Woody looks like Bruce Hampton. Hampton goes back man!

He and the Hampton Grease Band use to open for the likes of the Grateful Dead, and Jimi Hendrix.

Hampton always fallen under my list of "Fat Guys who are Really Original", also.

Col. Bruce Hampton
Cpt. Beefheart
Dr. John

Bruce Hampton is coming around here I think, Pepsi Cola Roadhouse or something.

So what the fuck is up with Cat?

Badmoon 03-24-2005 10:04 PM

As we speak, I wouldn't mind if we put him down, but he use to be cool.

"Father & Son" is an amazing song. So is The Flaming Lips' rip off "Fight Test".

jpj 03-24-2005 10:07 PM

The Codetalkers feat. Col. Bruce Hampton and Jimmy Herring, and tickets are only $13. Now to get daddy to take me to two concerts in one month.

Have you seen Gilmour's Richard Wright avatar? Now that looks like Jesus.

Badmoon 03-24-2005 10:12 PM

Go see that! It is rare that you'd catch Herring and Hampton together these days, plus the Code Talkers are pretty dang good.

The Aquarium Rescue Unit is another one of those groups who really had a family (Like the Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers, but not as large).

They launched the careers of Mutt Mundy, Kofi Burbridge, Oteil Burbridge, Jimmy Herring, Jeff Sipe, etc.

jpj 03-24-2005 10:39 PM

There's something cool on PBS. They just showed CCR live then they went to the Moody Blues playing Knights in White Satin.

Steve Miller is coming to Pittsburgh :D

EDIT: It's that god damn 60's Experience thing again.

Yea that's off the Meddle inlay. I think they all look like Jesus in there. Even the two without beards.

Mean Mr. Mustard is awesome too.

magicbus 03-24-2005 11:44 PM

I was hoping you guys would catch that. I threw in "Mood for a day" in case you didn't recognize him in the small resolution.
