what does it do differently?

It does everything iTunes does but better. I can manage my music and put stuff on my iPod and get album art and I can still listen to music in windowshade mode, where it gets really thin so it doesn't take up the whole dang screen. It just awesome.

get a second monitor.

2 monitors is so much more useful than linux desktops because you can look at things simultaneously.

I suppose, but I rarely need that much screen space anyway. More importantly though, I don't want to spend the money on another monitor :p.
