Wouldn't it be sweet if Metallica remastered AJFA?

willis2441 04-20-2006 01:38 PM
Wouldn't it be sweet if Metallica remastered AJFA?
yea,if they remastered it we might be able to hear the basslines!

Dave1 04-20-2006 01:38 PM
Yeah, Rasmussen produced AJFA.
Lars and James did the cd themselves, they realised how crap it was sounding, so they got Rasmussen in.

hahahaha,i wonder why they didnt keep him?

Shred Danson 04-20-2006 01:48 PM

 I believe that's the point he was tryin' to make.

He didn't fix it though.

Dave1 04-20-2006 01:56 PM
He didn't fix it though.
Just imagine how bad it would of been without him.

2muchket! 04-20-2006 01:58 PM

I shudder to think

Rattlehead 04-20-2006 02:36 PM
http://www.jasonizer.com/justice.html If you have ever thought of what the songs would sound like with bass click on this link. A bass player named Lorike has redone the basslines and mixed them into the original score and it sounds great.

asides from that Iam a bass player and have being playing for 6 years and I've listened to this album over and over and yes in certain songs there are faint sounds of the bass. The only song where its near enough audioable is To Live Is To Die. Fast forward the song up to the 2nd solo around 5:30, You can quite easily hear the bass.
yea yea, nice remastering there. i agree entirely:thumb:

finally an agreement! lol
Wouldn't it be sweet if Metallica remastered AJFA?
yeah, but the orig is definately unique sounding. i love that.
Lars and James did the cd themselves, they realised how crap it was sounding, so they got Rasmussen in.
...Rasmussen?

Stormrider 04-20-2006 02:39 PM

Rattelhead, where the hell is your Testament thread ? I was looking for it yesterday and I didn't find it, therefore couldn't bump it for you :p Still didn't find something to bump it with though...

Rattlehead 04-20-2006 02:47 PM

unlucky... aparently all of the T threads go slow...:(... but there are loads of threads that ive never seen before on any of the pages, and they just pop up with like thousands of posts. so it can't be gone for good..... right?

Stormrider 04-20-2006 02:59 PM

Must have skipped it then...I'll look for it again :p

For sure its not gone for real...I would think

Rattlehead 04-20-2006 03:06 PM

cool, cheers for the effort, man. whats your name?

PepsiMetal 04-20-2006 03:47 PM
...Rasmussen?
He was their producer for all their earlier albums. Not sure if he did KEA though.

Thor 04-20-2006 03:53 PM

Haha has anyone read Lars Ulrich's writeup in the current drummer poll? It pretty much tells about how he's old, short, and how he sucks. It's pretty funny.

Stormrider 04-20-2006 04:22 PM
cool, cheers for the effort, man. whats your name?
James. But call me Jammie :p

Whats yours ?

Aw3someman 04-20-2006 04:57 PM
Haha has anyone read Lars Ulrich's writeup in the current drummer poll? It pretty much tells about how he's old, short, and how he sucks. It's pretty funny.
What's so funny about it? It's true.

timmySmi 04-20-2006 06:39 PM

Yeah Lars is'ent anything special on drums if anything he's very overated.

PepsiMetal 04-20-2006 09:09 PM
What's so funny about it? It's true.
Yup nothing funny about it. He's short, he's nothing great, and whatever else was in there was true also.

Britton 04-20-2006 11:25 PM

Are ya'll kidding me? AJFA remaster? that's completely unnecessary and pointless. as far as good sound go's AJFA and MOP are their best two albums. If anything needs re-mastering it's KEA and RTL and to Re-master them they just wouldn't be the same. It's like taking a old movie that's in black and white and making it into color...it would be gay

Jev 04-21-2006 12:55 AM

I'd still like to hear it.

Rattlehead 04-21-2006 11:08 AM

yeah someone post a link it

and don't diss Lars, who cares if he's a bit on the small side.
James. But call me Jammie :p

Nat, as in Nathaniel
Yeah Lars is'ent anything special on drums if anything he's very overated.
he isn't overrated, no-one really thinks he's anything special on the drums.

that's not the point though, what he does for Metallica is perfect for what they are, and they need nothing else.

willis2441 04-21-2006 11:38 AM
Yeah Lars is'ent anything special on drums if anything he's very overated.
hes pretty good now it just took him 20 years to catch up with every other decent drummer lmao

timmySmi 04-21-2006 12:30 PM
he isn't overrated, no-one really thinks he's anything special on the drums.

Without getting into another debate.

Of course he's good for Metallica Iam just saying theres alot of fanboy Metallica fans I come across who are like YEAH YEAH LARRRRZ! BEST DRUMMER EVER!?!.

He has used session drummers in recordings of Albums aswell i.e Black album and Ride The Lightning which I find unnecessary. There are better drummers out there In the metalworld but yeah I still would say Lars is an Irreplaceable member of Metallica.

PepsiMetal 04-21-2006 12:56 PM

Yea lars isn't really overrated at all. I don't know anyone that thinks he's great or special even though most of my friends like metallica. He's a decent drummer overall, and pretty good for the band. I hate his attitute though. Ugh.

ForThePunx76 04-21-2006 01:03 PM

i loved kill 'em all and enjoyed ride the lightening. however after the master of puppets release, i lost what respect i had for them. eh

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-21-2006 01:16 PM

I've been listening to a lot of KEA a lot more and I must say that it has moved up a bit in terms of albums I like. AJFA is still my favorite followed by Garage Inc.

Jev 04-21-2006 01:18 PM

That's odd.
Normally it's after The Black Album that people say that.

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-21-2006 01:21 PM

I pretty much don't like the Black album. It's last in my book. I even put St. Anger above it.

Rattlehead 04-21-2006 01:30 PM
I pretty much don't like the Black album. It's last in my book. I even put St. Anger above it.
i love the Black Album.

yeah i love garage inc. great album.

the prince ftw!
"Without getting into another debate...."
lol, debates are good, i really enjoyed that last one, despite getting slightly worked up at some points.

Jev 04-21-2006 01:38 PM
I pretty much don't like the Black album. It's last in my book. I even put St. Anger above it.
Weird.
What makes you hate it so much?

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-21-2006 02:53 PM

Meh it's just nothing I like much. Solid album but over all the songs don't attack you or come out at you like other songs do.

Cliff Burton solo with Mustaine still in Metallica era.

2muchket! 04-21-2006 03:14 PM

MoP is probably the definitive moment of 'tallica song wise anyway

Jev 04-21-2006 03:16 PM

I prefer Ride The Lightning.

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-21-2006 03:17 PM

Meh I'ld take AJFA over MoP in that cat. but comes very close.

vashts80 04-21-2006 05:38 PM

AJFA has been remastered. All the older albums (KEA-AJFA) have been. There's a difference between remixing and remastering. AJFA needs to be remixed. That means they take the master tracks and mix it all over again. Remastering basically means that they take the finished product and filter it and what-not with newer technology and clean the sound up a bit to make it sound more current. They did this back in like '98 or something.

Edit:
He has used session drummers in recordings of Albums aswell i.e Black album and Ride The Lightning which I find unnecessary. There are better drummers out there In the metalworld but yeah I still would say Lars is an Irreplaceable member of Metallica.
Has he actually admitted to it? Or is it only a rumor? I've heard that he only used session drummers on AJFA, but of course it's only a rumor on the internet. I don't think he's ever confirmed using session drummers

PepsiMetal 04-21-2006 06:28 PM

I don't know if he admitted. But there are some rumors that go as far as him using studio drummer because he couldn't play double bass that fast on Dyer's Eve.

And you're right, all of their early albums have been remastered. Here's a question. Anyone have any of their early albums on casette? haha

Bazarov 04-21-2006 06:38 PM

I have black album and AJFA on casette, and Ride the Lightning on vynil. Well, I don't, my dad has it on vynil and he has it in storage. So it's proably warped to hell now.

Thor 04-21-2006 07:01 PM
I prefer Ride The Lightning.
Here here! :chug:

HazMan 04-21-2006 07:33 PM

Ride The Lightning is my favourite old school Metallica. Its got such an evil polish to it thats lacking in their other releases.
