Rod Stewart wasn't always lame. Every Picture Tells a story was a great album.

thickasabrick 07-13-2005 10:58 AM

I like Rod Stewart. He's a great singer and has great songs.

MBS 07-13-2005 11:03 AM

I like Rod Stewart too, but didn't some in this thread describe him as "Mom Music"?

I think it might have been Badmoon or Lunch.

ATM 07-13-2005 11:04 AM

Not a big Rod Stewart fan.

Edit: Oh yea, I just found out that James Taylor lives about five minutes from my grandparents house (which I am at now). Weird.

Jam2Me 07-13-2005 11:05 AM

I love the way the Allman Brothers play the blues...I suppose they are my favorite at playing bluesy songs.

*raises hand*

Or maybe I just agreed with them. Either way that's true but I don't care. Every Picture Tells a Story is a **** good album.

I love Johnny Winter's blues style.

Jam2Me 07-13-2005 11:07 AM

FASCINATING sidenote about Johnny Winter:

When he came to New Haven while on tour, he went to Yale New Haven Hospital where my mom works, and she gave him a colonoscopy. My mom said he was the grossest patient she has ever had.

BludgeonySteve 07-13-2005 11:08 AM

I'd bet ;)

He's an awesome guitar player :)

ATM 07-13-2005 11:08 AM

 That's crazy.

Give the man some credit. He was an albino, but still became famous for his playing, not his skin.

I bet that'll get you a date.

"Hey, my mom gave Johnny Winter a colonoscopy before!"

ATM 07-13-2005 11:14 AM

My girlfriend's dad gives colonscopies. Yuck. He is rich as hell, though.

Jam2Me 07-13-2005 11:20 AM

That's how I pick up Johnny Winter groupies :naughty:

That's a great album. Rod Stewart had some great rock songs back in the day, especially "Reason To Believe."

I'd like to make a poll thread in other music that has uploads of a few songs that are all the same just covers and people vote for the version they like best but I dont think it would work out good enough.

jpj 07-13-2005 12:49 PM

Jimi does some of the best covers of blues songs. Everyone needs the album Jimi Blues!

I could get 4+ versions of Scarlet Begonias for you. Grateful Dead, Subline, Jazz is Dead, and Jimmy Buffet. Plus I have various other live versions.

Edit: Turns out I don't have the Jimmy Buffet version though.

Stonefree 07-13-2005 12:52 PM

All I have off it is Mannish Boy. I also have it by-

Muddy Waters
Bo Diddley
The Yardbirds
i consider the beatles rock n roll, not really hard rock...nonetheless, a great band though.
this is late but the beatles more or less invented hard rock with helter skelter.
it was one of the earliest songs that the singer was really screaming his lungs out on.
