MW:2's PC player base blows. 360 and PS3 have a way bigger/better community of players.

More trolls, too, but more people overall.

New shit is nice once you get it set up. Mother got a new TV stand so she can put all her shit under it (TV box, Reciever, 400 CD-Player, my Xbox 360 and possibly my PS3). Gets rid of a like tower of electronics and puts them under the TV. That and it's one of those fancy ones which holds the TV up so it looks like it is floating.

Lot of friggin screws, wooden dowels, and crap... but totally rock solid and worth it. Tomorrow I'm going to have a real fun time putting all the electronics on it. Pretty much built it tonight (took some time). Also got a Wireless N+ router so I can have a hub in my bedroom instead of running 50 ft. Cat6 from downstairs to my room for fast internet. Faster streaming on my PS3 and faster wireless for my mother's new computer.

I <3 technology.

Blue_Moon 02-14-2010 03:48 AM

my wifi fixed itself

AG 02-14-2010 04:40 AM

I built a Media Center about 4 months ago and havn't looked back.

Now I have a box that'll do bluray, record up to 4 channels at once (scheduled up to two weeks in advance), has 750GB of storage, and connects to the internet. Just one box.

I want to set it up to be a media hub for all the other computers/laptops to stream unto, but I'm running w7eval edition and can't be bothered setting it up untill I install w7 proper.

I don't have £70 x 3 though, I wish you could install w7 on multiple computers.

The_Mop 02-14-2010 04:59 AM

Aight AG.

Working on that solo comp right now. Runnign out of ideas :P

AG 02-14-2010 05:28 AM

I quite like the backing track.

Squirrel 02-14-2010 10:26 AM

sup Ag what you up to nowadays

AG 02-14-2010 10:59 AM

Nuthin much. I'm a chef nowadays at Yo! Sushi, in my last year of uni (which is crap) and planning kids next year with the wife.

jew?

Squirrel 02-14-2010 11:09 AM

wtf

youre married what?

why is uni crap? or is it crap that youre in your final year?

are you still at newcastle uni?

i'm a teacher yher

AG 02-14-2010 11:21 AM

Yeh, third year at Newcastle.

And I'm married now, yeh. Uni is crap because I've lost all interest. I'd be happy with a 3rd.

This is me on my wedding day, with the church's sheep.

Squirrel 02-14-2010 11:59 AM

why the **** would you get married so young

and why the **** would you want kids so early in a relationship and so young

AG 02-14-2010 12:01 PM

Kids young = 45 and im rich and free.

Married young cos err, she's in my life atm.

Squirrel 02-14-2010 12:23 PM

no kids young means at 45 free and broke

and youre never "free" from kids, theyre the biggest responsibility you'll EVER take on, so i've no idea why you'd want to do it so quick

weird

AG 02-14-2010 12:31 PM

Of course you're eventually free from kids. If you manage to fck up your kids upbringing so they depend on you forever, it's your fault.

Both my and my wife's mom and father are completely free to do whatever they want now, we see them socially, but in now way are they attached to us.

Anywhoos, kids are amazing, and a huge part of a relationship, imo. The main reason we want kids next year is that we can't wait to start a family.

Squirrel 02-14-2010 12:32 PM

so neither of you have careers to speak of then

AG 02-14-2010 12:41 PM

Not at all.

She finished uni with a 2-1 in English Lit and currently works for Sky in a call center. She applies for graduate jobs every day, but no success.

I'm working for Yo! and it's fine for the moment, but it's just a job. When I finish Uni I'll do whatever pays the bills. If I wanted a career I would have done medicine.

lol i have a five year old and they are NOT that big of a responsibility.

as long as you try to raise them right and treat them equal from a young age they turn out fine. also the kids they are around change them so you can't have brats in their class or in your house lol

people say things about kids and marriage but i feel that my job was always more complicated than my wife or my kid combined.

Yeah, when they're cheaper I'm going to buy a Blu-Ray drive for my mother's computer (pending she keeps it hooked up to our living room TV) instead of a Blu-Ray player. Save me like $100. :D

If I get a nice job then I'll probably build a $600~ build and throw Ubuntu MythTV on it or something for a media center. Haven't really looked into it, but I hear it is good and it is free.

Know what you mean, happy I have access to my college's software for (I think) 3 years after I graduate. Got free XP w/ SP3 (my XP computers all came with SP1 or even earlier *cringe*), free Vista x64 Enterprise, and now free W7 x64 Enterprise. <3 <3 <3

It's just not good if you build your own computers to attach the install to a specific part like MOBO/CPU/etc. Stupid Microsoft... *sigh*

AG 02-14-2010 05:52 PM

In my mind I'm slowly accepting the death of xp.

Left Face Down 02-14-2010 05:57 PM

I didn't really accept the death of XP when Vista was out, even when I was using Vista. Don't know exactly what it is, but Windows 7 feels complete. That and it takes 2 windows updates (I think 15 updates total) to update W7. Instead of the couple of hours to update even XP w/ SP3.

Blue_Moon 02-14-2010 08:22 PM

vista sucks balls

i liked xp

mnemonic 02-15-2010 12:31 AM

xp ftw

though we do have 7 on the computers at school, so far 7 is alot better than vista.

and by the way, windows has the most retarded naming system ever

Left Face Down 02-15-2010 04:11 AM

Not to get into it, but Linux/Mac > Windows. If I wasn't a gamer I probably wouldn't even run Windows. Sadly the jump in needed hardware from XP to Vista/7 is rather large. I mean x64 W7 uses like 1.5Gb of RAM just running the stupid system. Little less, but fact of the matter is it clocks in at just under 3x what XP idles at.

I really don't see the point in having a big bad-ass system if you aren't a gamer or video/sound engineer who is encoding/converting video/sound files all day long. Why would I not go for the cheaper routes?

That and I think a basic W7 install is like 10Gb where as a basic Ubuntu Linux install (for example) is 78Mb.

I haven't seen that video in years, always entertained me.

The_Mop 02-15-2010 03:22 PM

So yeah, bit pissed off. 'scuse the imminent vent...... In good news, I got fairly decent exam results. In bad news -this new semester is particularly badly taught and some of the lecturers are dicks. Also a particularly useless business module has me doing a ****ton of work because the guys I'm working with in my group are useless. I ask them to research something for me so that I can collate and edit our document to hand in, and they either copy loads of random papers off the net or just send me a couple of links.

so basically I have to do this whole ****ing exercise myself. And these ****ers are going to get the share of the marks as well.

I seriously hate working in groups.

AG 02-15-2010 03:39 PM

Hah, me too.

I had a group assignment where I basically volunteered to do 65+ hours of photoshop work (because the rest of them are tards that can't work msorafice, and I couldn't be arsed to write any content) and all they did was bitch and moan (as they didn't understand the amount of time it takes to shop).

Anyways - in the end we got a 75% and all of the reductions were on the content, the layout was perfecto.

Ahh well. Just do your best and show the ****ers up,

Cool sneaks,

The_Mop 02-15-2010 04:58 PM

Fortunately, even though this module is ****, it's actually structured fairly decently - we have individual interviews near the end where you can tell what went down. That'll be my time to shine :P Some fairly decent teaching for once in Newcastle Uni's EE department for a ****ing change....and it's for a useless module. Awesome.
