Is she the girl that sang on Kezia?

* Jadea Kelly — vocals
It would have been cool if Lights had been the voice of Kezia. She would have been about the right age (if I had to guess, Kezia was in her mid-to-late teens).

Would it have really been that cool?

I don't like her voice... heh.

MBS 06-10-2009 02:26 PM

no that wouldn't have been as cool because lights is really not that great of a singer + i like the vocals as they are

aspirations 06-11-2009 09:40 AM

good stuff. i think they get a little overhyped but I still enjoy it

Benzilla 06-15-2009 01:56 PM

I'm hoping for an instrumental track on the next album, it's not like they don't have the skill to pull one off.

Timba sent out an e-mail regarding the beard situation on Friday. If you're interested in buying his beard as a wig, well...read on
Some of you may of heard about me having a date with a razors. These
rumours are in fact true, and I will be shaving in a week or so. I'm
trying to raise money to donate to Locks of Love along with my hair.
(They wouldn't take a beard donation)

The fundraising is going well, and I've yet to really push it because I
don't want to feel like that nagging canvaser going door to door. I do
want to raise a certain amount, because I feel that after three years of
living with this beard on my face, it's not coming off for chump change.
I think $500 is reasonable and a significant amount to raise (I'm $100
away from that ) but would like to surpass that and see what happens.
I'm asking you if you can check out http://www.beardteamcanada.org and
if you like the cause and idea, contribute to it. I think $5 is
affordable and is 20 people do this, I'll easily make my goal. Of course
you can be more generous or less generous it's up to you. I want to
offer my beard, that might be turned into a beard wig, to the highest
bidder and my mom has already contributed $100 and doesn't want it!!
Unless that's weird and creepy or not possible to do. If someone knows
any place that can use beard hair for something, please let me know! I
will find a way to get tax receipts for anyone who donates over $20 so
you can write that off as well. Please pass this on to anyone you think
would be interested.

Thanks for reading this and helping me out
Cheers to Beards
Tim

PS. I plan to post a picture of the 'made over' Tim and possibly a video
of the shave when all is said and done at http://www.beardteamcanada.org

Just realized the exact email I just posted was also put on their MySpace. Derp.

DL the instrumental version of Fortress

Benzilla 06-16-2009 04:39 PM
DL the instrumental version of Fortress
I'm talking about a serious Metallica-esque metal instrumental.

In other news, I was flipping through the latest issue of AP and as I was turning the page I noticed a full page picture of a guy who looked a lot like Chris Wynne. Lo and behold it was indeed Chris Wynne, he did a short interview with AP about being Protest's merch guy.

Jev 06-16-2009 05:15 PM

Doing a Metallica-esque instrumental would be a major step-down.

alytee123 06-16-2009 05:20 PM

I think he just said Metallica-esque because they're famous. I dunno I guess an instrumental could be interesting, their songs with vocals are pretty hectic instrumentally alone anyway.

Jev 06-16-2009 05:22 PM

If they did an instrumental song it would sound something like the end of Palms Read.

Benzilla 06-16-2009 05:32 PM

That's exactly what I mean. Like the intro to Limb from Limb...but longer

Tyler 06-16-2009 06:44 PM

Yeah Happy, the end of Palms Read is actually an instrumental track, it's Limb from Limb Pt.2, it was just put at the end so it would crossover better

Tyler 06-16-2009 07:13 PM
if you find it, mind uploading it on mediafire? that sounds pretty cool.
Sorry this took so long. Just brace yourself, this is a very, very rough bootleg from 2005. That and the solo isn't good...at all. In the first version the quality is better, but I don't think Luke hits a single live note in it (again, 2005). In the rougher one, which is second (V2), you can get a better feel for what they were going for. Again, still understandable why they ditched it. Coincidentally, one of these performances is from SCENE 2005; I'm going to SCENE 2009 this year on my birthday (anyone else going?).

You'll also notice the 6/8 break midway is a little different than the studio version. The guitar work is a little different, too.

MBS 06-16-2009 07:33 PM
but the quality is pretty bad, i remember when i first got the bootleg i swore rody said "six year old girl" with this jewish "goyal" intonation instead of "six feet of soil"
listening to it now, and i definitely heard "six year old girl" too.

thanks coke, appreciate it

Tyler 06-16-2009 07:35 PM

np, i have more somewhere, including a full 45 minute set from Halifax when rody had this really gay highlighted shaved on the sides scene-cholo haircut

Benzilla 06-16-2009 09:19 PM

Two remarks:

1. I'm impressed that they nailed the half-second delay on "shot (shot) gun (gun) will..."
2. The guitarist attempting the solo has a hard time accepting that he's not Thomas Erak.

Tyler 06-16-2009 09:24 PM

It was Luke. I was at that gig, though, the sound sucked. He semi-nailed it in the second version.

duma87 06-16-2009 11:25 PM

Coke - I'll be at SCENE. What bands are you gonna check out specifically? ETID's gonna be sick.

Tyler 06-16-2009 11:27 PM

I don't even know what bands are there, truth be told. A buddy of mine just messaged me and went, "we're going to Scene on your birthday". I'll have to look at the list. The year I went was great, though. It might have actually been Scene 2004, I'm not sure. Saw the End and Protest, but I missed Bear vs Shark because a friend wanted to see Dallas Green's solo set (pre-City and Colour), which might have been one of the worst musical experiences of my life. It was just him singing (grossly out of key as usual) a bunch of AoF songs acoustically while a bunch of fag, awkward teenage girls sat on the floor weeping.

edit: Just looked. Pretty terrible line-up. Ehghhh

Tyler 06-17-2009 04:31 PM

Arif is playing stand-up for this folk/country/bluegrass musician saturday. Intriguing, might check it out.

Pete 06-17-2009 04:42 PM

alright so their bookie is being impossible, we're probably not gonna book them.

Benzilla 06-17-2009 05:38 PM
Arif is playing stand-up for this folk/country/bluegrass musician saturday. Intriguing, might check it out.
I wonder if he'll try to do some insane tapping on that upright.

Tyler 06-17-2009 07:13 PM

I wouldn't count on it, it's pretty traditional bluegrassy stuff. He didn't go nuts when he played with Jadae Kelly, I wouldn't expect it this time around, either.

that sucks man Bear Vs. Shark put on a great show while they were around (regardless of whether you like them or not)

Tyler 06-17-2009 10:04 PM

I loved them, a lot. I had no idea they would break up like a year later. I was pissed off the day it happened and I'm more pissed off now :@

Moon Flavor 06-17-2009 10:08 PM

I saw them at like their 2nd or 3rd to last show it was with FoT and Fear Before (who also put on a sick show despite not being that good) and Since By Man which was generic and the singer preached about some **** for like 5 minutes between each song and nobody could tell what he was saying because the mic sucked lol

Best part was seeing my 6'4'' 300 pound friend level some hardcore dancer with his elbow during fear before

The Feeding 06-18-2009 10:33 AM

WPFF will probably kill me for this question, but what genre are they?

I like what I hear, by the way.
