Just listened to some Aesop Rock for the first time today. It's pretty awesome stuff. Pretty intense lyrically.
Which album/songs? |
Speakerboxxx/The Love Below has some excellent stuff but is pretty inconsistent.
|
It has one excellent song, two okay ones, and a buttload of shit. It has nothing to do with it being 'different' and everything to do with it being 'terrible'.
I really like Aesop Rock but I don't get why so many people are turned off by how weird he is. I don't actually think he's that odd. |
Aesop Rock is really good.
|
You're tellin me, brother.

Hello Brooklyn,
How ya doin'? btw Ron Jeremy's rap video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pS55jzbLTcs |

It usually takes a few listens to really appreciate it. I know I didn't like it for the first year or so after I bought it. I'm not too into Speakerboxxx though. The love below's appeal isn't in that it's trying to be different, it just sounds good and is different. |
Speakerboxxx is so underrated. Big Boi is just generally underrated.
Aesop Rock is no good |
Hello Brooklyn,
I like Doom's beats but his flow is annoying as ****.
Late, but I agree. It gets old hearing him sound like he just woke up. His Viktor Vaugh **** is a lot better in regards to how he actually executes it, but it's a lot more standard. |
Wow, I thought Doom was fairly well liked around here. I guess I could see how he could get annoying, but I find his style refreshing.

I just think he gets old pretty fast. His style is refreshing to a point. |

Aesop Rock is no good
I think he's a better rapper than Andre 3000, but I really haven't given speakerboxxx that many listens. He's the sh*t on Atliens thuogh. Aesop is certainly not everyone's cup of tea. I've always been a big fan. I feel like Dooms beat's on his non madlib stuff are pretty easy to digest at first and the superhero/comic book gimmick was cool for awhile, but nothing in his music really grew on me, and I just got tired with his voice and his non sequitor pretentious lyrics. |

It's a struggle I go back and forth with trying to decide who I like more Andre of Big Boi. |
They are totally different though, no real reason to determine that one is better then the other.
|
MF Doom's best is his debut album, he has a really raw energy that he never captured again, but Viktor Vaughn has a similar feel. I used to really like Madvillainy, but it gets old kind of quickly besides a few awesome tracks. His now more low key delivery works better with his flashy beats (or Dangermouse's) rather than the offbeat stoner jumbled feel of Madvillainy.
|
I love Madvillainy, but I'm currently listening to Take Me To Your Leader properly for the first time and I'm really liking it. I think in time it could definitely grow to be me favourite Doom.

However, there is a major reason to determine that Aquemini is Outkast's best album - because it is. :thumb: |

word em up |
I like Aquemini best.
|
That sounds like a ****ing sweet show
|
Wait, why would they cancel? It would be an awesome show.
|
Aesop is hella unique. S'why I like him. Same goes for Dan The Automator, I found that **** to be really unique, it's like opening a whole new door for hip hop.
|
Automator has been making music for quite some time
|
got American Gangster from the library today. It's pretty disappointing but Roc Boys is awesome.
|
It's an alright album, nothing on it really blew me away.
|
DJ Ski's remix of it is better, The American Godfather. You can find it online for free.
|
How's it compare to Kno's remix of the Black Album?
Also, forgot to mention that KMD might appeal to some of you who don't care for Doom on his own. He is a little more focused on the KMD releases. |

Isn't that one a mash up with Nas or something? I remember seeing something like that. |
How's it compare to Kno's remix of the Black Album?
Kno's is one of the best, I think it's only second to Pete Rock's remix. American Godfather is really cool because he mixes up a lot of the music from The Godfather into the beats but they are also classic Ski beats. I tried looking for it online, but it looks like it was taken down. If anyone wants it I can upload it. |
That would be awesome if you uploaded it.
Automator has been making music for quite some time
I was solely speaking for my taste in hip hop, and those that have never heard of said artist, as I just recently discovered Automator. |
Okay.
