Justin(ha, my name too): You have your opinion, and if you don't like the band, don't come in here and talk crap about them. Let us wallow in our own blind bliss.

neverender 08-05-2007 03:58 AM

yeah pennie has talent but i doubt he'll fit into the band. I hope his "try too hard" drumming doesnt affect the basslines too much either :(

Riziger 08-05-2007 10:44 AM

i think eventually he'll be good for the band tho. haven't really listened to DEP but i've heard that he's technical?

very looking forward to GA2

cobert 08-05-2007 11:00 AM

The basslines (like almost everything else in the band) have been buttcrack since SSTB.

Sound Boy 08-05-2007 05:14 PM

they got Taylor Hawkings from foo fighters on drums for the new album. but still are gonna use Pennie for the live shows.

and they have some good bass lines but they just get mixed back

Fish 08-06-2007 09:09 PM

so anyone see them at warped tour? im going this saturday, should be good

Holyed 08-07-2007 05:55 AM

New song is up on their myspace page.

I love it, along with anything else they've done.

Yay, I heard it from the warped tour videos, but the real version makes it a lot better, naturally.

DJ Ducksauce 08-07-2007 06:13 AM

Not bad. Still has a lot of that GA feel and the overproduced sound it had in GA as well.

I'm going to get my hopes up a little for this album. Just a little.

neverender 08-07-2007 06:40 AM
The basslines (like almost everything else in the band) have been buttcrack since SSTB.
the basslines are awesome on all 3 albums imo..

do u play an instrument?

Holyed 08-07-2007 07:00 AM

It'll be interesting to hear how much he alters the recorded drums,
especially as Taylor is much more a typical rock drummer - i've already noticed this on the new single.

One thing Josh was good at was really making the drums sound good when they played live, I hope that isn't missed.

Riziger 08-07-2007 10:15 AM

nooo, cant listen to the song cos myspace dosnt work for me.... looking to the album!

cobert 08-07-2007 03:06 PM

Yeah I wont be getting this.

Bass.

neverender 08-07-2007 07:33 PM
Bass.
Well then I guess you realise there really isn't much difference in the way he constructs his basslines from the 3 albums! All fun to listen to and play and in a similar vein.

Yeah it will be interesting, I really think Josh will be missed to be honest.

It does seem strange theyre using different drummers for live/studio instead of getting a permanent member of the band... anyone know why theyre doing it that way?

cobert 08-07-2007 07:40 PM

They might have been similar, but in SSTB it was anything on IKSOSE (not so much on GA) but waaaaay more creative.

Seriously, the bass towards the end of Hearshot Kid Disaster (in the breakdownish part) is still so fun to play, same with the intro to Time Consumer.

Chris Pennie is their permanent drummer.

neverender 08-08-2007 04:16 AM

why is he not doing the studio work then?

eta: or was taylor hawkins just playing for that album to fill in and now hes totally gone?

I think they wanted to get the album tracks down asap, and Pennie wasn't quite ready to at that time or something, still involved with DEP perhaps?

Either way, it's Pennie all the way now.

rustysurf84 08-08-2007 07:50 PM

This whole drummer saga is pretty nuts. I'm looking forward to the new album, and Claudio's quote about the songs being more in the vein of Welcome Home makes me very happy :)

fair play, i enjoy the bass on all albums though. the bridge bass bit near the end of tenspeed is sooo good to play yet really simple :D mic is a legend!

As for the new song on their myspace, I wasn't sure about it after the first couple listens but I love it now, definately excited about the new album! :thumb:

Fish 08-12-2007 10:34 PM

yes the new song was so good live! And everyone was into to it, its good to see Mic on stage with them still. Im so pumped to hear more from them.

RetiredAt21 08-19-2007 09:38 AM

I seriously can't believe people still to this day talk about this band.

DepthsOfDreams555 08-19-2007 11:43 AM

Because people like them.

reidster90 08-19-2007 12:26 PM

The band is ok. But if I want prog with hi voices I'll listen to Rush

Sound Boy 08-19-2007 04:28 PM

but he changes the pitch of his voice
but if you actually listen to the music you see why its such a good band

Fish 08-25-2007 07:41 PM

so theyre new merch is sweet. ;|

Static 09-17-2007 04:13 PM

Big bump? Yeah.

Well anyways, what's the deal with the new members? I know Pennie is playing with them, but Taylor did the studio records, but do they still have Mic Todd with them?

Holyed 09-17-2007 07:17 PM

Chris Pennie is their official drummer now, touring etc. Taylor just recorded the new album as a one off, as I don't think Pennie was avaliable or something. And yeah, thankfully Mic is back playing with them.

Ahhh, i'm so excited for the end of next month, I wish it'd come sooner.

Urbreathsmells 09-17-2007 07:26 PM

I think they're okay. His voice gets kind of annoying after a while.

Static 09-17-2007 08:20 PM

I really love them, and I've been binging their music since early August.

Has it leaked yet?

Riziger 09-18-2007 03:26 AM

haha even if it leaked i'd wait for the album to come....

can't wait. lotsa albums i'm waiting for end of the year/early next year

Static 09-18-2007 01:02 PM

So would I, just wondering though.

So much is coming out for me this next months.

Spiritofmosa 09-20-2007 11:53 PM
