Hey man just a small question - is getting an 18" 2002 full crash worth it? - since i had cracked a 16" 2002 regular crash really easily. (these are all paiste)OR maybe should i just get myself eithr a 18" 2002 medium crash or a 17" 2002 rock crash?

rborghino 05-29-2006 12:48 PM

its sounds really weird when i read it again

Icky_Mettle 05-29-2006 01:29 PM

17 paiste sig full crash :]

If you cracked a 2002 real easily, spend that money on a teacher instead.

I wish I could afford a 2002, because I won't break them.

I'm pretty sure the hats would be good, because I am a fan of that A/AA/2002 sound more then anything else.

But i'm too poor to afford Paiste, but I want at least one 2002 in my lineup, so it will be a crash.

ebay some of the ones you're looking for...I dunno if it's a good idea to like a set of hats because they're a cheaper version of the ones you really love.

I have a paiste 101 and two sabian b8's in my set and theyve held up well maybe it was like a factory mistake or something and you didnt even answer the question i asked. you freak out too fast man, chill out.:chug:

yea man. i'm gettin' my job and my first few pay checks are goin' towards a 20'' 2oo2 novo china and 15'' 2oo2 soundedge hats

Icky_Mettle 05-31-2006 01:35 PM
Alright....getting a crash very soon! Should have the money to get anything other than a paiste in about a week or two. I'm thinking 17'', and here are some of the qualities I'm looking for:

Pretty dark
pretty washy
relatively open
loud enough for rock/funk
versatile

Some that I've got my eye on
Istanbul Agop dark crash
Istanbul Agop sultan
Sabian AA med. thin
UFIP in local shop

some more suggestions would be awesome....
answers? I guess I should just make it a thread...

aznriceball 05-31-2006 01:38 PM

you're going to hate me for this..but i just got back from a weekend camp gig where i was the drum tech/sound tech and i'm going to say...

16" S series wuhan crash. believe it or not, but that thing was piercy, and cut through the bass just enough :)

Icky_Mettle 05-31-2006 02:29 PM

Believe me, I'm trying the S Series if they stock it at guitarcenter...I just don't wanna buy a wuhan without ever hearing it.

Icky_Mettle 05-31-2006 06:19 PM

OH GOD...I think I'm in love, and the victim costs $217 :[

Paiste signature reflector 17'' full crash

wow...this thing is absolutely dreamy! A little darker than the trad finish I tried, EXACTLY what I was looking for...matches up great with my ride. The thing is...am I good enough to get it? I don't want this breaking on me!

ooohh that crash is like a really hot woman, and you'll only need $217 to do funky suff with her, GET IT!!

Inkstar 05-31-2006 09:53 PM
Would it be possible for someone to briefly explain the qualities of cymbals? Such as washy, etc. Never really known too much about them.
Anyone?

ChainReaction 05-31-2006 11:18 PM

a possible cymbal setup

After much deliberation, I have come to a possible conclusion in replacing my cymbals. Based on what I have read here and in other forums, observed in music stores and internet sound clips, I have made the following selections:

16" and 18" Sabian aaxplosion crashes
20" Paiste Signature Dry Heavy Ride
14" Zildjian Z custom Dyno beat hats

I imagine the ride and the crashes will work quite well together, but, I am not sure of how the hats will work into this arrangement. I'm not even sure of Dyno beats...my only experience with them are the samples on the zildjian website. Does anyone have any commentary on the above cymbals, and perhaps a hi hat suggestion? And, since I may have money left over, splashes?

Icky_Mettle 05-31-2006 11:25 PM

hmmm....Ride is a brilliant choice, thinking of getting something in the sig line myself...I'm not a fan of aax really, but if you like them that's cool also. I suggest trying out 2002 sound edges.

We_Love_Lime 06-01-2006 09:25 AM

The Dyno Beats weren't bad really.

Maybe a K/Z Hybrid Whatever TF it is will suit you better.

Zildjian 06-01-2006 01:58 PM

Sigs are the sexiest cymbals ever... I now got a 16" sig full crash and its amaizing ( got it yesterday and i know its perfect in every way)

What a waste

Sabian4015 06-01-2006 09:02 PM

Should I get a 10" or 8" splash?

We_Love_Lime 06-01-2006 10:21 PM

Eightuh.

Depends on what you want to do with it.

Inpropagation 06-01-2006 10:44 PM

I'm looking for some good hi hats. Right now I have pro sonix, and I really don't like them at all. They're too loud, bright, heavy, and clangy. So I'm looking for something maybe the opposite of them.

Thanks.

15" K. The exact opposite. For what you're trying to play, maybe 13" K/Z? I love mine.

Chris 06-02-2006 01:30 PM

Any of you know what china this is:

All i can work out is that it is a 17 K, but not sure what type. And i ask as im after a china (I play a small set up like Brian), and i like the sound of that one live. So im trying to work out what it is to try one out.

Drum Phil 06-02-2006 01:49 PM

K Custom Hybrid

However its 19" cause they only make them in 19"

Chris 06-02-2006 01:50 PM
K Custom Hybrid
Cheers, i thought it was a dark china:rolleyes:

But i guess i should of looked at the bell (I know little about Zildjian).

Are they any good? And musical sounding?

Drum Phil 06-02-2006 01:51 PM

Its also 19" not 17 ;)

Chris 06-02-2006 01:55 PM
Its also 19" not 17 ;)
Lol, that was a shoot in the dark, going by sound clips off the zidjian site.

You know how much they go for, and if they are easy to get hold of?

Drum Phil 06-02-2006 01:57 PM

£176 from newcastle drum centre.

I enquired about the 19" Hybrid crash a while ago. They're the same price as K Customs

Chris 06-02-2006 02:05 PM

Newcastle is the other end of the country to me. But at least they arent that much.

The sound clip is 100% the sound im after as well.
