I see the magic in it. That discussion arose out of your unwillingness to admit the greatness of A Fair Judgement.
What? I love that song.

Deth 10-22-2005 07:57 PM

I think I said it was their best acoustic riff, and the jarring began. Anyway, let's leave the Opeth talk to the official thread.

If your referring to that middle peice, thats my favorite part of the song. But yes, we have another thread for this..

HazMan 10-22-2005 08:01 PM

the glass prison anyone?

GenuineImitation 10-22-2005 08:16 PM
the glass prison anyone?
What about it?
the glass prison anyone?
I really don't like Labrie's vocals on some parts of that song. The solo is really awesome though, not too flashy yet really funky. Apparently the song was inspired by a Pantera concert Petrucci and Portnoy attended.

Up The Irons 10-22-2005 08:35 PM

i dont like his vocals on a lot of the songs

but has anybody seen the setlists for the "Evening With" leg? It is very nice

GenuineImitation 10-22-2005 08:51 PM

The glass prison is a amazing song. The whole thing fits together so nicely. I like La Brie's voice in the song, as I do in most DT songs.

Darkness 10-22-2005 08:53 PM

His vocals do get annoy me once in a while... but when they do the trade off thing vocally on TGP, its awesome.

Thats my favorite part of the song, other than the solo.

Lord Abortion 10-23-2005 02:03 PM

Are they not doing A fortune in lies on this tour?
Or is it the killing hand I saw on the setlist?

I'm keeping it a surprise until I see them... tomorrow.

Where did you find a setlist?

Lord Abortion 10-23-2005 04:03 PM

It was in here a while back I think

Cain 10-23-2005 04:05 PM

All right, dudes, it doesn't seem like there's much more voting going on. Everybody cool with "MXtropolis Part II: Scenes of a Thread?"

Or do you want the same thing except with "Thread from a Memory?"

Maybe the second one...

scenesfromatheater 10-23-2005 04:14 PM

Sounds cool to me. I think it should be Thread of Thought though cause someone great called scenesfromatheater made it:naughty: ....he's awsome.

Darkness 10-23-2005 04:14 PM

Thread from a Memory sounds better, IMO. Rolls off the tounge easier..

Cain 10-23-2005 04:16 PM

It wasn't a bad suggestion, it got quite a few votes. No worries. :)

It seemed like a lot of people were pushing for "Thread from a memory," so we'll go with that. A nice compromise.

scenesfromatheater 10-23-2005 04:21 PM

So how is it going to be changed, will it be the same thread just re-named, or is there going to be a fresh one?

Cain 10-23-2005 04:23 PM
So how is it going to be changed, will it be the same thread just re-named, or is there going to be a fresh one?
No, it'll be the same thread. The mods can rename it. I just asked in the Report Problems thread.

Ad Absurdum 10-23-2005 04:33 PM

The name got changed

/is going to see Dream Theater tomorrow :D

scenesfromatheater 10-23-2005 04:41 PM

Dream Theater on Wednesday.....yyyeeessssssssss....I've been waiting so long for this.

Darkness 10-23-2005 04:42 PM

I still don't like the MXtropolis part, but its still good.

BludgeonySteve 10-23-2005 04:44 PM

Guys, that's by far the most forced out of any of the thread names.

I've been enjoying the Live at Budakan cd. They're even more amazing live.

I'm enjoying your avatar.

That's one evil Geddy!

I don't like the LATB setlist all that much...maybe it's just me.

Other than the TOT stuff, there isn't that much to reccommend on there.

/awaits denouncement
Guys, that's by far the most forced out of any of the thread names.
That's because Cain screwed up and left out Thread of Eternity, then added it after most voted.

nowitzki 10-23-2005 05:22 PM

I'm happy with the new thread title.
And even happier about the fact that by this time Tuesday night I will have seen 6 hours of live Dream Theater :D

Neither do I but I still like it. There's nothing from Awake, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance, only 1 song from SFAM, no A Change of Seasons :(. That was their whoring Train of Thought show.

Lord Abortion 10-23-2005 06:13 PM

Yeah, I love the TOT stuff on there, I just think the choice of the other songs is strange...

Only 1 I&W song too...

GenuineImitation 10-23-2005 06:13 PM

I like the new thread title. I wish Thread of though won, but this was my second choice.

BludgeonySteve 10-23-2005 07:03 PM

Yeah, I was going to mention the lack of I&W songs as we;;/

Cain 10-23-2005 07:05 PM
Guys, that's by far the most forced out of any of the thread names.
If you guys really want, you can have it be "Thread of Eternity." I don't really care one way or the other.

Sorry I forgot it. :(

BludgeonySteve 10-23-2005 07:09 PM

It's not that bad, actually. Atleast it's better than the Slayer thread title.

I prefer Thread of Eternity, personally... but I'll forgive you if it doesn't change. :)

Deth 10-23-2005 09:20 PM

Sweet title.

bwnstl 10-24-2005 07:39 PM

Holy Christ, I just watched the commentary audio of Metropolis: Scenes from New York. Here are my comments.
1) Mike Portnoy should never be allowed to direct again. For some reason he thinks all those retarded effects are cool.
2) They are mostly a bunch of dorks who aren't funny when they're trying to be.
3) I would be pissed if I was Myung or LaBrie. It seems like every time they tried to start talking Portnoy would interrupt them and go off on another tangent.
4) Rudess is actually the most entertaining and interesting member to listen to, although musically he's my least favorite. (Leave the shredding to Petrucci and write some decent music for gods-sake. [Oh well, at least he got "Disappear" right.])
5) Was I mistaken or did Portnoy say something borderline racist on there? When the choir comes out he said something like "well, i guess I know where the chicken fried [something] went"

Overall it was pretty entertaining, but those things just really annoyed the hell out of me.

Umm...
Track listing

5. War Inside My Head
6. Test That Stumped Them All
13. Goodnight Kiss
14. Solitary Shell
16. Disappear

Keeping in Mind it was the Riding the Train of Thought World tour.

:p

BludgeonySteve 10-24-2005 09:03 PM

I must have meant something else.

Lord Abortion 10-25-2005 05:38 AM

Yeah, they had all that 6DOT stuff on there, and missed Misunderstood, which has to be the best track on there out... :(
