pink floyd is one of the few bands that actually gets away with being super pretentious, because they revolutionized the way people look at songs as opposed to albums and single. before floyd really albums were just the best 10 or so song the band was working on at the time. pink floyd made an album as one unit which makes them great. you couldnt have a song from atom heart mother on animals or something, it wouldnt work. theres my 2 cents
happy first post me |

Wow. I missed a lot in a day. What's the conversation right now?
|
Eh...didnt miss that much. Ive been in this thread and havent seen an interesting converstation, but more focused on early floyd though.
Not long from now, ill probably be out of these forums. I got Momentary lapse of a reason. Its not as bad as everyone said it was, but i cant adjust to Gilmores voice every song...just bugs me a little |
Ok. How about this. Does anybody have The Wall: Live In Berlin? I saw it at the store, and when I read people like The Band and Bryan Adams were on it, I almost thought I grabbed the wrong thing.
How do these guys fit into The Wall? |
Sorry Otherside, I cant upload it tonight... Maybe tomorrow
|
just wondering, do any of you have a live version of pigs (three different ones). it would be friggin' awsome if you could upload it.
Just for kicks, anyone ever listened to the Zabriskie Point soundtrack? i was thinking of hunting down a copy. |

But yeah I'm gonna buy a bootleg cd from Pink Floyds Animals tour soon, you guys should cheak it out too. There is this solo that is done after Pig on the Wing thats just awsome. I think that at one time Pig on the Wing part one and two were one song, but just connected through that kick ass solo. |

Wow I didn't know it was Snowy White who did it, I always thought he was just some random guy Waters pulled out to replace Gilmour for some of the tours. Yeah last time I cheaked there were a few bootlegs on ebay from the Animals tour, I havn't heard anything from the Animals tour exept Pig on the Wing. |
I was listening to Dark Side of the Moon.(its my only floyd album) and noticed that some of the vocals were different. I always thought Waters did all the singing. But is there someone else that he shares vocals with?
|
Dave Gilmour, the guitarist sings as well.
An example of him singing is on 'Money'. |
Gilm0ur actually sings on almost every famous Pink Floyd album.
The earlier ones featured Syd and Roger, and The Wall was mainly Rogers child. |

NP m8, take your time. |
I haven't got it, but from what I've heard, the show was pretty chaotic really...he got Bryan Adams and even Cyndi Lauper in to help out on vocals (take Gilmour's vocal parts), and in some cases play the guitar parts, or just join in with his backing band. It sounds quite disorganised, and I think it wasn't as good as it could have been, considering how dramatic they could have made it.
I nearly impulse bought it, but I didn't have the right money on me. It was fairly cheap. I think I'll have a looksee at it. |

It was only 18 when I saw it. I wanted to buy it because I'm always looking for more Floyd dvds, but I don't think there are many. |

Hey im sorry for the real n00b question for pink floyd
But is it Waters that does the more higher vocals? and Rogers doing the more deep vocals? |
Hey im sorry for the real n00b question for pink floyd
But is it Waters that does the more higher vocals? and Rogers doing the more deep vocals?
Roger Water is the same guy. Gilmour is the one that tends to do the high vocals. Roger does most of the vocal work on The Wall. If you want to hear Roger, listening to the opening vocals on Comfortably Numb. David Gilmour is the one singing when the lyrics go to "There is no pain, you are receding". Im listening to Us & Them on the Animals tour, the crowd is starting to boo PF :(. Stupid Roger, pissing off the crowd  |
There are non Roger being a dick Animals bootlegs though right?
|
There are non Roger being a dick Animals bootlegs though right?
Im sure there are out there, but this bootleg was put in here because of Roger's behavior, and the importance of the concert. |

Yeah in many ways that moment was the end of the slow downfall of Pink Floyd and they finally hit bottom compared to what they used to be and Waters took control. And happy 8000 posts :) |
So, I have a copy of Pink Floyd in '67 performing Astronomy Domine live at Club Beat. It's quite interesting, though not the best quality. Would anyone be interested in a yousendit?

So what does Gilmour sound like singing Waters songs? I mean live after Roger left. And one last thing whos Syd? Thanks guys.

Gilmour's voice was a little off Waters at times, but Gilmour is a better singer then him in some ways so it you couldn't really knowtice. And Syd is the member of Pink Floyd who was the song writer, lead singer, and lead guitarist before Gilmour. They did one cd with him called Piper At The Gates of Dawn. He went crazy because LSD bought out a mental illness. His condidtion kept him from touring, and the band didn't know how to handle him. They hired Gilmour as a replacment, and just stopped telling Syd when they were going to a show. He did one last song with them Jugband Blues and left. He had a solo career that was a flop, though I think he wrote some good stuff solo, but also some bad stuff. After two records he stopped, and went to live with his mother. He hasn't made any public interviews or anything like that, exept by people who can't leave the poor guy alone. He doesn't even recognize who he was, or even that he was in the band, or even that he knows of a band Pink Floyd. When asked about the group he replyed "Are they one of those rappers?" |
Wow thats pretty bad. So didn't waters sing at all on Piper at the Gates of Dawn?
|

I'm not good with who sang what, but I think he only had backing vocals, but the backing vocals were a big part in some songs. He also wrote only one of the songs (Take up they stethoscope and walk) |
Thanks alot for youre help. Id rep ya if I could.

 No problem man any time. |
Barret does the vocals on every song except Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk, which is Waters. On a few songs, Waters and/or Wright do some harmony vocals, but Syd is the lead every time.

Roger also does a few of his trade mark screams on Interstellar Overdrive

I had a dream that Pink Floyd was having a reunion concert with all the members, and my mom was gonna buy me the tickets. But then I woke up :upset:
