Reverie/Harlequin Forest is my favorite song off the new album. The "A trail of sickness..." and the acoustic part that comes in at 5:07 are the parts in particular that get stuck in my head the most.
"Nocturnally helpless, weaken the lights Depending on a prayer Pacing desserted roads to find A seed of hope" That part is friggin awesome too. Master's Apprentice was by far my favorite song on that album when I first bought it.The first riff is just soo infectious. As of late, I have grown more to like By the Pain I See in Others. It's so heavy.
Yea, exactly! The part that has been in my head ever since I heard it starts at around 5:36when the twin leads come in. It's so entrancing, beautiful writing on all parts. Yeah, By The Pain I See In Others is a very lethal song. I listen to it all the time :) I love Deliverance. ''Rise to Submission!'' |
Talented? hardly, every song sounds exactly the same. And its not good same either.
 Lamb Of God's new album is aweful. I listened to 3 songs and gave it to a friend of mine. As The Palaces Burn was decent, but you are 110% right when you say Mikaels Voice puts his to shame in many ways. |
Here is my list:
Orchid: The Twilight Is My Robe Under The Weeping Moon In The Mist She Was Standing Morningrise: To bid your farewell Black Rose Immortal The Night and the Silent Water My Arms, Your Hearse: When Demon Of The Fall April Ethereal Still Life: Face Of Melinda Godhead's Lament The Moor Blackwater Park: The Funeral Portrait Blackwater Park The Leper Affinity Deliverance A Fair Judgement Deliverance By The Pain I See In Others ****ation To Rid The Disease Windowpane Death Whispered A Lullaby Ghost Reveries: Reverie/Harlequin Forest Beneath the mire Isolation Years |

|
Anyone have the lyrics for any song? lol, please if you do email them to me, thanks!!
It loses me on the growling.I think I get the clean parts pretty well though.
I wanted more growling on it :( |
I like the growling... but i love the mix of the more hardcore melodic death metal style background w/ the light vocals... it's soo coo ^_^:;
|
i <3 atonement as well as Isolation years.... those 2 songs are bombbb like the new Still Day Beneath the Sun or Benighted lol
|
Oh, come on guys...you can't mention "reasons why Opeth rule" and not bring up the song Godhead's Lament. The vocal/acoustic passages are just pure gold, and the heavy passages are amazing.

Yes that is an awesome song such moments of brutality and such serene moments, start a convo about their lyrics, because theu're so beautiful and heartwrenching.

Flynn, was it you that wanted the lyrics to Harlequin Forest? I wrote them down the last time I listened to it so I could sing/growl along. It's my absolute favorite off the new album. It leads me to think Mikael's been reading Dante. The harlequin forest probably refers to the forest of the suicides. Eh.
Harlequin forest/Reverie Into the trees First light abounds I'm further away From my home Baying behind me, i hear the hounds Dogs chasing to find me, alone A trail of sickness leading to me if i am h(a)unted, then you will see Search in the darkness, an emptiness I'm hiding away from the sun Will never rest, never be at ease All my matters expire so I run The trail of sickness leading to me If I am haunted, then you will see The dogs have arrived Drives against the pain Same regret that there was INstrument of guilt before me You thought youd seen it all and you barely can survive and you face the demons as death becomes a gift You're the laughing stock of a (__ nightmare)? Confessions stuck in your mouth Like demons in their... Nocturnally helpless, weakened in the light Depending on a prayer Facing deserted roads at night A seed of hope They are the trees, Rotten folk inside Everywhere Roots are sunken, fever from my source Time bounds the future of all lies Tales of false pretension, Harlequin forest Awaiting redemption for a lifetime yes, They die alone with no one by their side Raaa Darkened and troubled nature, Close your inner soul Unforgiven Beast inside, Dank is your suffering, contort(?) The woods are burning Tearing us all asunder Still by the smoldering earth/air. |
Mikeal's lyrics are one thing that makes Opeth so different from a lot of ''DEATH''metal bands ;)
Mikeal should write a poetry book :) |

are you serious? he doesn't think hes good? he's friggin amazing, i love his lyrics :) ... Wait wait wait POLL: IF MIKAEL WAS THE LEADER OF A CULT, WOULD YOU BE ENCHANTED BY HIS LYRICS? - Yes I would - No I wouldn't - Mikael? Cult? Isn't he allready in a cult? - What the ****? - Maybe :-D "Yes i would" = my answer lol |
Wait
there's a messup (the only one from what i hear I THINK) the reverie/harlequin forest lyrics, of a (__ nightmare)? If i'm correct, he says ' of the absent minded, i think... and the H(a)unted, i think it's haunted, not hunted, idk why he'd emphasize it and make it sound so much like an A if it was hunted lol thanks so much for the lyrics :-D edit, Facing deserted roads at night A seed of hope i think he says Facing deserted roads to find A seed of hope and yes, They die alone with no one by their side He says like i think 4 more words after ' by their side ' can you try to find out what they are? it goes to fast lol |
Indeed he should, its funny because he said he doesn't consider himself a good lyricist... I think he's awesome... never wrote bad lyrics.
indeed, it's one the documentary part of the dvd not? I find it hilarious how he can be so modest when his lyrics are just genious. I honestly wish I could ever come up with poetry like that. let alone his guitar and compositional skills within Opeth. he is not a mirracle but incredible in any way as far as metal/rock music goes. he's just so diverse |
indeed, it's one the documentary part of the dvd not?
Correct. To DesiOzymandias, there is an Opeth cult on the internet somewhere, my bass player joined a while ago... they were like "all hail lord Åkerfeldt!!", and treating him as if he's a god. My bass player joined as a joke though. |
...... realy? that's wierd lol my bad thou i was juss makin that as kinda a f unny thing
ok here's my corrected version of Harlequin forest/reverie lyrics... thanks to addicted_tochaos for the orig, please feel free to corect :-P Harlequin forest/Reverie Into the trees First light abounds I'm further away From my home Baying behind me, i hear the hounds Dogs chasing to find me, alone A trail of sickness leading to me if i am haunted, then you will see Search in the darkness, an emptiness I'm hiding away from the sun Will never rest, never be at ease All my matters expire so I run The trail of sickness leading to me If I am haunted, then you will see The dogs have arrived Drives against the pain Same regret that there was INstrument of guilt before me You thought youd seen it all and you barely can survive and you face the demons as death becomes a gift You're the laughing stock of the absent minded Confessions stuck in your mouth Like demons in their... This band sucks, i can't even tell you how much. Heavy Metal sucks. AAHHHHHHH
Why dont you "sing" about reality instead of these fake made up worlds you are living. bands like opeth, and cradle of filth make me sick. Time to grow up. Now that was "Coldblooded" |

AAAAHHHHH, But you do. What is a noob, AAAAAHHHH, sounds made up. Reality awaits you. Take It |
To coldblooded, I do not mind that you do not like band such as htis. but I would like to hear a valid explination to why you do not like Opeth, and or heavy metal. I ust ask you why do you belive that opeth does not sing about reality? Listen to the song Still Day Beneath the Sun... That is just as real as your stupidity, If you're too lazy to do that, the song simply states how sad a person is after a lovedone died. Noob is'nt madeup, although it's not in the dictionary, it's slang.
Dannyboy15, Flaming this kid/girl wont help, he'll feed of of it and make you look like an idiot, outsmart him and he'll have to shutup becuaes he probably doesn't even know hwo Mikael is!! In any case, I have allready taken reality, and what about you Coldblooded? Have you taken it? Because if you have, why are you on this site wasting your precious time in your realty flaming other people's interests? Whattype of music do you listen to? You tell me that, and i gaurentee you its' not reality, it's just another form of entertaiment to escape reality. --DesiOzymandias |
Just stop talking to Coldblooded. He's come here to make fun of everything.

well, why waste YOUR time replying, if you are trying to be the bigger person and this
Don't say anything My opinion is mine, i know you wouldnt agree, but it seems pretty exhaustive to write a 3 paragraph explanation cheers |

Saying "[something] sucks" isn't having an opinion. It's making a completely ignorant statement, and makes you sound like a prick and is taken offensively. Though it isn't much different, saying "I think [something] sucks" is having an opinion, and is taken respectfully and less offensively. Yeah the sentances aren't much different, but the effect it has on people isn't the same, and very different. |

Into the trees
Past meadow grounds And further away From my home Baying behind me I hear the hounds Flocks chasing to find Me out A trail of sickness Leading to me If I am haunted Then you will see Searching the darkness And emptiness I'm hiding away From the sun Will never ends Never be at ease All my matters expire So I run A trail of sickness Leading to me If I am haunted Then you will see There drops another That derives to ease the pain In the same regret that there was(?) Instrument of death before me Looks of the safe hohfdpoefhf(?) As you parish and survive In the face of demons As death becomes a gift Your are the laughing stock of the absent minded Confessions stuck in your mouth Now your demons live there Nocturnally helpless, weaken the lights Depending on a prayer Pacing desserted roads to find A seed of hope They are, the trees Rotten hope inside(?) Never well Roots are sunk in Even from my source Time bounds The future for the lights Mist of false pretention, Harlequin Forest Awaiting redemption for a lifetime As they die alone with no one by their side As they forget Dark and troubled nature Voice of inner soul A frigged beast inside(not sure if frigged is even a word) Drain my flaming suffering, controlled(?) Now the woods are burning Herein life cuts us under(?) Useless blacked remains Still by a smoldering *insert unknown word here* That's my interpetation so far.The previous lyrics helped me out a great dead.Good job with those.Perhaps someone could take all of ours and figure it out to perfection. |
