An English teacher at my school is a big fan of Immolation which is kinda wierd, he's in his 40s.
a police officer at our school likes king diamond

Silenius 07-26-2007 02:20 AM

**** I remember having cops at my school before I moved, you just reminded me of that. For some reason I always think school cops or either rookies or retirees.

yes the review was quite good, and you got 27/27 votes which is pretty much a sputnik record, although i believe Cain got 37 or so on Blackwater Park.
what?
im listening to immolation right now

meh
tbh you must be retarded*, since Immolation is one of the only consistently good dm bands around (ignoring that Harnessing Ruin crap).

*oh wait we already established that you're a wiglet

Lord Abortion 07-26-2007 08:14 AM

Wiglet is an awesome word.

Immolation aren't bad, not particularly my sort of DM, but good for the occasional listen, they're kind of like Nile or Entombed or Suffocation in that respect for me, they'll never be my favourite band, but once in a while it's good to break them out.

Dargon 07-26-2007 08:19 AM

we are the fi-ya and the weend?

that Demoniac?

EDIT: oh you edited your post. Please don't compare Immolation to Nile, since Nile is wigletry and Immolation is excellent.

Only in the sense that I listen to them in occasional bursts.
And yes, that Demoniac.
I edited because I realised that I hadn't posted that in the community thread.

I'd like to know why Nile is so ****ing popular. I think they suck balls.

Dargon 07-26-2007 08:24 AM

Demoniac is really gay, BUT when you're piss drunk they're great. I've always found that anyways.

I can definitely see the appeal of that if you have about ten pissed up metalheads singing along to sons of the master...

Jondur 07-26-2007 10:07 AM

I'm listening to Dim Mak. How can you go from the greatness of Ripping Corpse to this?

LifeInABox 07-26-2007 10:07 AM

Hahaha, "The Death Touch".

Dargon 07-26-2007 10:15 AM
I'm listening to Dim Mak. How can you go from the greatness of Ripping Corpse to this?

Ripping Corpse can be a little overblown at times, with the constant seemlingly gratuitous changes from extremely fast to extremely slow tempos, but not a bad band at all. The Death Warmed Over demo is pretty nice.

So true, they made a very succesful transition from the old school sound to a more modern sound, that is still fresh and just good.
I really enjoyed Shadows In The Light.
Although it can't beat DoP or UC.

masscows 07-26-2007 10:37 AM
no. Anything after Legion might as well be Slipknot for all I care.
Yeah, up until Scars of the Crucifix maybe. The Stench of Redemption is quite a cool album. Santolla, despite taking away from the unholiness of the record, really had alot to add to their sound.

Regarding Immolation, I don't know which album to pick up from them. I have Harnessing Ruin and it's pretty bleh, but since dargon just said it's their worst, I'll have to pick up something else by them. Recommendations?

LifeInABox 07-26-2007 10:41 AM

S/t ftw.

the2stranger 07-26-2007 10:42 AM

Dawn Of Procession and Unholy Cult are my favorites.
Shadows In The Light is also quite good, as is Close To A world Below, although it has some weird moments where they loose me at times.

Dargon 07-26-2007 10:44 AM

alright here's my take on things

Dawn of Possession: a classic album, essential for anyone who calls themselves a death metal fan
Here in After: a good album, nothing amazing for Immo
Failures for Gods: same as above
Close to a World Below: their best effort; dark, crushing, twisted death metal
Unholy Cult: a little too "weird" for me. this is basically what Gorguts wanted with Obscura, but utterly failed at.
Harnessing Ruin: groovy crap
Shadows in the Light: a bit of a return to form; still some groove, can't compare to CtaWB.
what?
nevermind Cain got 31/31 votes.
oh yeah have you guys heard portal?
i got 2 of their cds the seepia and sweyy yesterday, they are like death/black but i am liking them so far.
**** I remember having cops at my school before I moved, you just reminded me of that. For some reason I always think school cops or either rookies or retirees.
this one was really cool though he always asked me about the shirt i was wearing and when i wore my king diamond shirt he was telling me how big of a fan he was. kind of odd really
I was thinking of Beneath the Massacre. My mistake.
 no worries, I was most definitely referring to the Sepultura album.

Also, this be fitting.

You took the words out of my mouth.

a_girl_brushed_red_x 07-26-2007 01:11 PM

Yeah, Immolation's badass.

Only one of their albums I own a hard copy of (LOL I SAID HARD) is Failures For Gods.

Deth 07-26-2007 01:20 PM

I didn't like what I heard from Shadows in the Light, it seemed a bit flat to me. Unholy Cult and Close to a World Below are righteous though.

a_girl_brushed_red_x 07-26-2007 01:34 PM

The past two aren't too good, true, but their track record is still pwnage.
I didn't like what I heard from Shadows in the Light, it seemed a bit flat to me.
You sure you didn't get the shitty mono version of it?

LegionsofMarduk 07-26-2007 01:52 PM

I liked the title track to Harnessing Ruin, but other than that it was a little disappointing. Better than a lot of other stuff to come out in the past couple of years, but not as good as their other albums.

rattlehead42147 07-26-2007 02:10 PM

i got CTAWB and DOP so im going to check those out. btw guys what would be the best Suffocation to check out?

Deth 07-26-2007 02:10 PM

I'm partial to Pierced From Within, but Effigy of the Forgotten is great as well. I don't care for their two latest.
You sure you didn't get the poopty mono version of it?
Actually, I did. But after realizing that I re-downloaded the retail version and still found nothing thrilling with it.

pate 07-26-2007 03:24 PM

Ahh. It's alright, certainly better than HR.
