i dont like slipknot but joey jordison was featured as the drummer in Ministrys newest and final album and it is quite good

Joey needs to start a death metal band.
He tried playing/writing death metal on the RoadRunner United album and failed miserably
He tried playing/writing death metal on the RoadRunner United album and failed miserably
No, he tried collaborating with a bunch of other crappy artists trying to write songs that combined a zillion different horrible genres---excelled at it beautifully.

That entire album is crap. The concept was obviously doomed from the start. There is not one good song on that album.

Huber 03-13-2007 12:07 AM

Over exagerration much? That album wasn't bad at all.

Grumma 03-13-2007 12:16 AM

There's a couple.
But the ones with Joey Jordison weren't great (with the exception of the last song on the album which IMO was well written).
The Mikael Akerfeldt (sp?) ballad Roads was good, as was In The Fire

badtaste 03-13-2007 06:26 AM

I think it's just sad, thinking how good SLipknot could have been.

whatduffhuck7 03-13-2007 09:11 PM

best song by slipknot = Gently
(sic) close second. im not a huge slipknot fan but these two songs are quite good...

Thor 03-13-2007 09:12 PM

Oh my god I haven't seen this thread in forever.

Their new DVD sucks. Discuss.

Invicta_Veritas 03-13-2007 09:15 PM

Everything new from them sucks. Discuss.

Thor 03-13-2007 09:15 PM

Volume 3 is better than Iowa methinks. It's so much more mature.

Invicta_Veritas 03-13-2007 09:16 PM

More mature, yes. Better sounding, no.

Thor 03-13-2007 09:17 PM

Mate Feed Kill Repeat is pretty insane, too. Confessions is such a hot track.

Angmar 03-13-2007 09:18 PM

I agree, I saw it at a friends. The performance was pretty lame and they kinda suck live. Although I don't know if my opinion is valid since i don't really like Slipknot.

Thor 03-13-2007 09:19 PM

Their newer performances aren't nearly as good. Corey's voice is shot, Joey's drums sound funny and Sid doesn't jump off of huge amps anymore.

...which is why Disasterpieces is a really good DVD. That was when they were at the top of their game performance wise.

Invicta_Veritas 03-13-2007 09:21 PM

I really enjoy Iowa still. But it laid self titled to waste, and volume 3's production and overall sound was horrid.

I hate everything live from them, except some of disasterpieces.

Grumma 03-13-2007 09:45 PM

Their live sound is . . . idunno . . . messy?

Cos they've got so many instrumentalists it kinda sounds like a mash in some parts. And on 9:0 Live Corey sounds like he's drunk (cos of the mask Im presuming)

Huber 03-13-2007 10:16 PM

I was able to stand Corey's voice on 9.0, but seriously Disasterpiece is so much better it's sick.

Invicta_Veritas 03-13-2007 10:17 PM

I just think they've always sucked live. Period. The sound is fine, I just think they are sloppy as hell and Corey has never been a good live performer.

Grumma 03-13-2007 11:00 PM

Yeah idunno . . .

IMO the fact that they have 3 or 4 guitarists and 3 percussions doesn't help. But I spose orchestra's etc have shitloads or musicians and still sound good

Invicta_Veritas 03-13-2007 11:17 PM

I will always love the first half of Iowa and the first half of the Disasterpieces concert, but everything else is just horrid annymore IMO.

Leukeh 03-14-2007 03:29 AM

Corey's voice was kinda screwed on 9.0 Live because they took recordings from some of the last shows in the Vol. 3 tour... which was kinda dumb. So yeah. His voice was shattered. And if you've heard the new Stone Sour album, his voice has changed heaps - he can sing heaps better but he can't scream as well. Which is depressing... I liked his old scream.

Their old live stuff was awesome, but 9.0 Live kinda ruined it...

Oh, btw Grumma, they have 2 guitarists... which I don't have a problem with. Lead and rhythm is fine, but I do think 3 percussionists is a bit over the top. Joey is a great drummer, but the other 2 hit kegs with baseball bats XD Not sure if a sampler & a DJ is necessary either, but they do some pretty cool stuff... & they're part of what makes Slipknot so unique so meh...

Grumma 03-14-2007 03:37 AM

Could've sworn they had more then 2 guitarists . . .

So there's:
1 singer
3 percussionists
mr turntable man
bass player
2 guitarists . . .

That's only 8 . . . who's missing?

Flie 03-14-2007 10:55 AM

Theres a sampler dude as well.

Grumma 03-14-2007 08:35 PM

Wouldn't that be the same dude on turntables?

Or do they have 2 of those?

Kulver 03-14-2007 10:10 PM

Keyboardist.

Huber 03-15-2007 12:36 AM

He's a sampler. You don't notice it but there is tons of sampling in Slipknot. He is not the DJ.

Grumma 03-15-2007 11:17 PM

Their DJ must be pretty **** if he can't do scratching and sampling

badtaste 03-16-2007 01:33 AM

They gave Craig the keyboards to tinkle on.

Go Slipknot and 2000th post.

Hey Leukeh, haven't seen you in a LONG time. Where have you been?

publicastration 03-17-2007 01:38 AM

Slipknot aren't bad actually. I enjoy some of their music.

I don't currently have any of their music right now, but I might get MFKR and their s/t again. Maybe Vol. 3 too, because I liked some songs off that.

I've never heard Iowa.

Grumma 03-17-2007 09:10 PM

There's only one song of theirs I like more than Iowa and that's Wait and Bleed.

Having said that I'm not a big fan
