what would Trophy Scars be considered?
I haven't heard them, but I think I heard someone say tech-metal? Don't listen to me though.

nothing6 10-10-2004 02:25 PM

i can tell there are screamo influences, but i wasn't sure if you guys had already discussed it and put them into a genre or not

shane italian 10-10-2004 02:28 PM

Check out the Emo/Screamo Thread in the Other Music forum. There's a lot of talk about them in there.

Trophy Scars are emo/post-hardcore.

Win A Rabbit 10-10-2004 03:05 PM

what would rise against, senses fail, and the used be considered?

Let's Chop Cats! 10-10-2004 03:05 PM

Doesn't work for me ether, I'm just going to assume they haven't started it yet. It says show starts at 5, but that may mean doors.
what would rise against, senses fail, and the used be considered?
Rise Against - Punk
Senses Fail - Pop-Rock
The Used - Pop-Rock

I've started calling bands Pop-Rock now, because these bands have zero association with punk.

NewKindofArmy03 10-10-2004 03:08 PM

yeah, i've always done that with bands like good charlotte and stuff. i either call them pop-rock or power pop.

NewKindofArmy03 10-10-2004 03:58 PM

Did anyone watch the Sheer Terror stream? I meant to for The Distance but I forgot. I streamed some Sheer Terror stuff offline a few weeks ago and thought they sucked horribly. Oh well...
seriously, if you were in a band would you rather do all the work yourself, or just play, and have the label do everything else (pretty much)
Do everything myself. It's 10000x more rewarding to see a record you put out yourself get good reviews or some ****.

You people here have such a distorted view of hardcore.

It's possible to be DYI while being on a label. I know it's hard to understand, but it works out.

Did I say it wasn't?

Look man, bands let labels put things out for them because the labels offer to help them out.. they split the costs and the profits 50/50 (at least that's what most labels do... Alone, for example).
Getting 'signed' is stupid, because 'signing' a band is about making money.
Get that into your thick ****ing skull.
