rockindrummer 02-17-2006 01:32 AM

Motleyguy 02-17-2006 01:33 AM

styler 02-17-2006 01:36 AM

Motleyguy 02-17-2006 01:37 AM

That's because you fail at life.

rockindrummer 02-17-2006 01:38 AM

^ That sucks man. Thats not the best thing to hear.

haha motley you got jipped. Maybe it is just lower mainland then because about 5 other schools don't have school tomorrow.

Motleyguy 02-17-2006 01:46 AM

I live in god damn Maple Ridge, we're still int he lower mainland. Sure, we're like the end of it, before it becomes the "fraser valley." but we're still part of it.

rockindrummer 02-17-2006 01:49 AM

Ya I know where maple ridge is man. My grandparents life out there. Rather nice place, some massive houses out there.

Motleyguy 02-17-2006 01:52 AM

Yes, rather nice place...once you get past all the homeless meth addicts, drug deals, and meth labs.

styler 02-17-2006 01:52 AM
That's because you fail at life.
lol ouch, as untrue as that is, ouch.

Motleyguy 02-17-2006 01:56 AM

aha. sorry dude, a bit of my jackass sarcasm shining through. I try to keep it off of these forums, but it was far too easy. My apologies for the low blow.

styler 02-17-2006 01:58 AM

it wasnt really a low blow at all man, nothing taken by it, but in no way am i a failure at life or anything of that sort, highschool doesnt teach you anything you wouldnt learn outside of school. school is just a place to put us until we can care for ourselves after all. thats not totally true too though either..otherwise have the world would still be in high school :(

Double Bass Jim 02-17-2006 02:00 AM

You learn alot in school, not book learning but as far as being around lots of different people.

Thats the best thing about public school, you learn a TON about that kinda stuff. I never learned anything in school I passed with average grades and got my diploma... BUT the education I got from being around people ect ect...Well the social enviroment and learning from that is irreplacable.

I find that to be untrue. High school teaches you some skills that people will take away into specific job fields. It also helps many people find something they are passionate about and gives us musicians and artists, as well as journalists, novelists. You definitely need courses like Math 12 and physics 12 to become an engineer. Just like you need Biology to get into college to become a doctor. It's all relative man.

Jezen 02-17-2006 02:07 AM

True that. I have always believed that public schools are far better than private schools. The private school I am at is ridiculously racist. They all make fun of this one guy from Pakistan every single day. I'm the only one that stands up for him. They blame him for the 9/11 bombings! I mean come on, WTF?!

Motleyguy 02-17-2006 02:11 AM

That's the skewed reality of humanity. That's low, but that's people these days.

you learn all that from being out of school too.

also motleyguy, im talking school in general, not just grade 12. which is when you do those classes, and the basic math and such you need to do it, you would learn from the time you were 5 until you were 18. you would have to be a sociopath not to learn it.

thats generalising bb, not every private school would do that.

the only difference between private school and public, is the uniforms and the fact that you pay a large sum of funds regularly.

night stronghold, see you all tomorow, wish me luck in setting up my set the way i like it.

I almost want to say the education is better. If you look at university acceptance rates, it's higher for private school kids. But at the same time, some, and I'm not saying all here, but generally, some private school kids have parents who are willing to shell out the cash, or make a donation to a university to secure a spot for their child.

that goes back to that spoiled thing in the other thread, the parents care enough for there child to try and cheat there way in, that or they just want bragging right that there kid is in a university or whatever.

btw, etp2 wanted me to say for a few extra minutes, so i did :(

yeah, it does go back to that. And while those kids arr lucky, because they get into those schools. Are they going to treat the school, or the experience with any respect. No, the majority of them probably become womanizing, alcoholic frat boys, who would rather get plastered and have an orgy than focus on their education. And in that case, they are taking up a spot that should have been given to someone who deserved it, someone who wanted to go to school to learn, not to party.

Also a good point, along with the educational benefits of high school. You are exposed to various social situations, like BB said, racism is a big one. So are things like social status because of money, and just seeing how people treat each other in general. The one weird thing about high school though, is I know I will probably never see most of the people in my grad class ever again in my life, and some of them will probably be dead before they hit 30. My dad's best friend was telling me that 1/3 of the people he graduated with were dead within 5 years.
