I am losing my touch, Pink Floyd is only #2 for me this week :-/

Steerpike 10-16-2005 10:01 PM

After getting emo last night about being unable to write, I dug up an old short story from the archives of my high school scribbles and decided to rework it into a short film

The title is "Xavier." It's just a short piece about the title character. He's a young college drop-out and a bit of a hermit. He's supported by two friends, Roy and Anna, who try to get through to him as he slowly descends into what Roy believes is a case of paranoid schizophrenia, ultimately hoping to get him committed without resorting to what Anna refers to as "drastic means."

They end up discovering though that Xavier, along with his insanity, has received a profound insight into the workings of the universe. Ultimate insight within ultimate madness.

magicbus 10-16-2005 10:03 PM

I've been a Beatles fanboy for the past few weeks, but there hasn't been a week where Pink Floyd wasn't on my top artists list.

That definitely sounds like something I'd be interested in reading, even if it was only once.

Chu 10-16-2005 10:21 PM

I'm not really a big fan of Pink Floyd, but obviously HeavyRiva is (Yeah man, it's that obvious!), so have a read of this. Unless you have already read it, in which case, read it again.
Since the reunion performance of PF at the Live 8 concert, we have been thinking of what more we could do to help the poverty stricken and the only plausible idea that came up was to work on a new album where a large portion of the sales will be donated to charity.

Through the release of this website, we present you all with the name of our upcoming album, "The Sound of Space". Not much more information will be released yet as it is still in production but the cover art and a few track names are available for viewing. The Sound of Space is scheduled to be released early/mid 2006 along with a "making of" DVD.
E-Mail it to King Diamond. He might turn it into a concept album :p

30 posts per page as default? What madness is this?

And regarding the new PF album:
As much as I'd like to believe that's true, I'm hesitant to accept it. :-/

Steerpike 10-16-2005 10:24 PM

I'm hoping to make a short film out of it this spring. The original manuscript is crap. I was at a stage where I was focusing on the whole "Everyone has 1000 bad stories in them" idea and was trying to get as many out of me in as short a time as possible.

Am I the only one who thinks it'd look great in B&W?
Am I the only one who thinks it'd look great in B&W?
I considered B&W. Another thought I've been mulling over was to film when spring was just starting, when some of the grey cast of winter was still present, and light most of the sets with reflector cards in various shades of blue to give a cold ambience.
I saw a movie last night based on Oscar's life, starring Stephen Fry and Jude Law.
I love the fact that that was Jude Law's first credited role on coming out of whatever acting school he went to - Rent Boy.

Stephen Fry and Oscar Wilde are both awesome, and there's a surprising amount of correlation between them. Both fantastically intelligent, both with a great talent for all kinds of comedic thinking, both spent time in prison, and both gay.
And god, the circle jerking between the two Arsis fanboy's is getting quite old.
Agreed.

1 Amateur Transplants (81)
2 Nick Drake (51)
3 Elvis Costello (41)

5 Hot Cross (26)
6 Devlin Love (24)
7 Daft Punk (20)
8 William Shatner (19)
8 Rob Dougan (19)
10 The Wildhearts (18)

Considering the number of Amateur Transplants songs I have totals three, I'm quite impressed.

Hey guys, sorry I've been away, I went to see Watch Them Die & 3 Inches of Blood on Friday night, and when I got home, my computer was completely fucked and my brother 'didn't know what happened.' So now I can only go on at school until we get a new comp :upset:.

After the show I got to talk to Shane Clark and Justin Hagberg though, and that waa pretty cool, they signed my library pass . Turns out they're total pot heads and DnD nerds, and we got to chase a cat down and ally, it was freaking awesome. I also got to talk to Watch Them Die's singer, he referred to himself as 'an angry hobbit,' and he wanted me to buy a bumper sticker that said 'If we're not supposed to eat animals, then why are they made of meat?'

Yeah they are, their singer and bassist are really cool guys too. They had a sign that said 'Can our band stay at your house?' and my friends kept telling me to let them because my parents weren't home, but I pussed out :upset:.

And I heard their first album a looong time ago, and I was impressed at first, and after a few more listens it got boring for me.

NP - Freak Kitchen - Ugly Side of Me
We did it properly and overtly for less than a day. We got the new EP, its an amazing piece of music, not many bands are releasing new material thats better than their old stuff, we're happy. The most we've ever done this is over a few posts, we usually keep it to AIM.

No one used to get bitchy when The Wildhearts circlejerking took place.

Its not like we do it everyday, and we're not going to do it anymore anyway. Thats what my Arsis thread is for. Mindless fanboyism.

I have real trouble making Wildhearts samplers for people. They're never usually very consistent.

Also, my University seems to have a kind of mission to make sure all my tutors are Italian. They both were last year, and the one I've had so far this year (today) is.

Mazeppa 10-17-2005 10:09 AM

All I can say for the Wildhearts is that my mum likes them, I don't think I've actually heard any of their music though :-/

In other news I finally got my english coursework handed in, I've nearly finished my assesed practical for science and my CD arrived today from eBay. So today has been ok as far as Mondays go.
