i need that brand new album, but that streetlight album is really mediocre. Everything Went Numb is great, but SWitB is really average.
I used to think the SM album was mediocre, but after listening to it awhile I've really come to love it.

True. I'm flying back to my apartment today though. Apartments are glorious.

Permanent Solution 08-23-2008 10:15 AM

house>apartment
house>apartment
Yea, I'd imagine. A good thing about my apartment is that it's the entire second floor of a cool house. So while it's similar in terms of actual space to most regular apartments, it's got a little more character and uniqueness than the cookie-cutter apartments in random complexes. Nice porch too.

that would be pretty nice.

the thing about apartments is your neighbors are right next to you, and so you can't be loud whenever you want, because it will bother them. As a drummer this s a tragedy.

Lunch 08-23-2008 10:29 AM

Yea, last year we got lucky and had cool people living below us, hopefully this year will be the same. I miss playing my drums when I'm at school though. Even without the neighbor situation there's just not enough room for them in my place. Maybe for next year I'll look into getting a house so I can bring the kit up.

I wish I could afford an electronic set, but to get one that doesn't suck is easily more than a grand.

Permanent Solution 08-23-2008 10:34 AM

Yeah, some houses probably wouldn't have the space either, but I'm lucky enough to have had 2 pretty big houses. The one this year is great because I have my (master) bedroom, plus a drum room. Totally rocks.

Electronic drumsets are mad expensive for good ones. The only one I've liked that I tried was the like $5000 Roland.

AA-12 08-23-2008 11:08 AM

agreed

Thor 08-23-2008 11:09 AM

florida's not even that great to visit either, i don't understand why so many old people want to live there.

McP3000 08-23-2008 11:44 AM

the sex life for people over 60 there is phenomenal

Thor 08-23-2008 11:49 AM

not to mention the public school system down there is completely down the toilet

and ew

Permanent Solution 08-23-2008 11:50 AM

It's because there is no personal income tax in Florida.

Thor 08-23-2008 11:51 AM

yeah the only time i went to a private school (which was luckily only for one year) was when i lived in florida.

McP3000 08-23-2008 11:52 AM

private school was awesome in high school

but then again im going to private school from 2 to 22 year old so idk

Permanent Solution 08-23-2008 11:55 AM

when i visited cornell, I deduced that my public school was better than their private school they paid $40k a year to attend. ****ing awesome

McP3000 08-23-2008 11:59 AM

huh

i never applied to cornell but im sure theres better private universities that you have to pay that much for

plus most privates nowadays throw out scholarships like Halloween candy

Permanent Solution 08-23-2008 12:03 PM

I meant high school hah.

Deth 08-23-2008 12:06 PM

hooray public school system

My Florida public education wasn't bad because I went to some of the best schools in the state.

McP3000 08-23-2008 12:23 PM
I meant high school hah.
oh nvm then
hooray public school system

My Florida public education wasn't bad because I went to some of the best schools in the state.
That usually helps. Houston's independent school district sucks, but all the surrounding school districts are fantastic, some of them being the top in the entire country.

Texas is really hit or miss at times in terms of school.

But now that i live in California i can just throw the blanket statement of "All our private schools suck" and be completely right!

foment 08-23-2008 12:25 PM

our school system sucks lol

pate 08-23-2008 01:53 PM

Public high school FTW.

My public university sucked *** though.
My current one is private, and much win.

metacognition 08-23-2008 02:03 PM

Public fo lyfe

Daven 08-23-2008 02:11 PM

Kage 08-23-2008 02:12 PM

private universities are really good but absurdly expensive

Permanent Solution 08-23-2008 02:16 PM

My public university works well for me.
