It's nice when people are honest about the gear they buy, all too often I see people praising stuff just because they own it. You might even think in your mind it's garbage but you'll say it's great anyway.

Thats how alot of shitty advice gets spread around on forums like this.

The only thing on my kit I think is garbage is my Metal-X crash. Than again I wouldn't say garbage, but meh. I don't reccomend them to anyone that's for sure!

I've done some more tuning and it's going better now... Takes a little while but making really small (>1/16) turns on the lugs makes it easier. Thanks for the advice guys! ;)

Futuro: The perfection was sarcasm. Notice the "Seriously though, I'd like to do the best job I can and get the best sound I can!" that follows?

Drum heads aren't about durablity, esspeccially Ambs. They are about tone and sound, durability is not a concern when those are the priority.

3 months is pretty good anyway for heads.

not fishbulb 05-03-2006 08:29 PM

3 months? I'm keeping mine until i get a new set. Speaking of which, i need to tune all of my heads except my snare which i tune every couple weeks.

Josiah 05-03-2006 08:31 PM

And I'm sure your drumsound reflects that view....

Loyton 05-03-2006 08:38 PM

What? Im lucky if my heads last three months, and Im not really that "hard" of a hitter. And my technique is great.

Icky_Mettle 05-03-2006 08:39 PM

My stock heads get out of tune fairly quick so I'm forced to tune them about every week or so, not that I wouldn't do it around there anyways, but they sound really bad if I don't. Planning on getting some G1's Tommorow when I go to tommy's, along with getting a ride...

not fishbulb 05-03-2006 08:57 PM

The coating just broke on my ambs after 6 months.

Playing with rebar?

I've had the same junk pins on my toms FOREVER and they still look brand new and are played everyday.

Futuro 05-03-2006 09:12 PM

Tarja left Nightwish! WTF? Why am I so late in finding this out?

:-)

Aaron 05-03-2006 09:23 PM

heya kids. I got banned. Don't know why really, because I wasn't advertising.

Futuro 05-03-2006 09:24 PM

Hey sup Aaron? Sucks about the ban.

:-)

Aaron 05-03-2006 09:26 PM

yeah i know. someone was in a cranky mood i think and was looking to vent.

Double Bass Jim 05-03-2006 09:27 PM

Posted in the pit?

Aaron 05-03-2006 09:29 PM

nah, apparently i was advertising in my exercise/lifestyle thread here in d&p when i posted a link to where I was developing lessons and exercise plans off thread. it's a temp ban, but out of principle i'm looking to get it reversed.

Double Bass Jim 05-03-2006 09:32 PM

Aaron 05-03-2006 09:33 PM

Yeah, I don't think one plys are any less durable, even if 2 plys may sometimes last longer, they tend to lose their sound much quicker.

Double Bass Jim 05-03-2006 09:44 PM

Yeah they lose there luster fast thats for sure

NCDrummer 05-03-2006 09:46 PM

Hey guys...i'm hopefully gonna get a job this summer which'll pay like $500 a month (not bad for a 14 year old huh?) and hopefully with that money i'll be able to get my Zildjian 15" A Custom Mastersound Hats, 16" K (or A) Custom crash and a 20" K custom ride (along witha 16" wuhan china) but i also need a new set...so i was thinking about the Sonor 3005 kit. and i was wondering what you guys think of those desicions

LoneStarDrummer 05-03-2006 11:01 PM

i've heard good things about the drum set and i used to own the 14" version of those hats and loved them. sounds like a good choice in stuff.
