I just learned a motion to sustain 32nds at 70 BPM with one hand

Before someone says "What a waste!" I came upon the movement on accident
I can almost get it that fast. I started at 55 and I have pushed up to 65. I can hold 65 well enough.

EDIT: 67...

EDIT: 68... Gawd it's gettin a little too hard..
Ugh. If I were to yell at them, they'd tell their parents and I'd be crucified for influencing them under my immoral ways.
Why, for telling them to stop being cruel to each other? The kids wouldn't necessarily know you were a lesbian.

Janeway 05-03-2006 02:12 PM

No. Not for that.
Their parents all have the "Oh my god, my little baby would never do that. They're perfect, you're a lying sack, you need to get help, and I'm the best parent in the world," syndrome.
And you know, me yelling at them would be the end of the world.
They don't even punish their kids.
They get their iPod taken away for a day, but their daddy feels bad and gives them and extra piece of cake for dinner and $50 the next morning.

My parents were never like that.

I used to be fucking...tormented, so I usually stick up for kids.

The Ska Man 05-03-2006 02:22 PM

Hey, I know someone around here(Damo I think? I forgot..) ordered a custom Sonor which seemed pretty sweet. Any word on that?

Janeway 05-03-2006 02:37 PM

I was sadly oblivious to a lot of people's shaming of me, thankfully or unthankfully.

I'm leaving for my annual SHIP convention tomorrow.
The hotel is in a shady part of the town. I'm thinking about seeing if I can get some weed. I don't really know how to roll joints and I've only smoked once or twice, though...
Hmm...

Jezen 05-03-2006 02:47 PM

Wow. I have students now...

Josiah 05-03-2006 02:54 PM

Now that's scary.

Corkofski 05-03-2006 02:59 PM

Josiah 05-03-2006 03:00 PM

It's easy, all in the preperation. Google and you'll find some great videos, instructions, etc

Corkofski 05-03-2006 03:01 PM

Worse than ZBT. Those are horrible. Put two pieces of paper together. same tone.

Janeway 05-03-2006 03:25 PM

Dude.
They're taking all normal pop out of schools and replacing it with diet.
Yeah. Sugar is healthier than aspartame.
Obesity is curable, cancer is not.
You know damn well kids aren't going to stop drinking pop, even when it's diet, so you're just going to turn us all into skinny cancer ridden hags when we're 30.

Can you bring you own? Get your mother (Or whomever you live with) To buy some and just put em in your lunch bag or what not.

Epiphender 05-03-2006 03:31 PM

I remember getting pop in my lunch as a kid, that was always such a treat

Our school got rid of pop altogether a couple years ago. There's only fruit drinks in the machines now, which have more sugar and calories than the pop did anyway.

SkaRabbit 05-03-2006 03:37 PM

Stop eating **** and start looking after your body?

Janeway 05-03-2006 03:38 PM

Pff, I don't drink it.
I've cut myself down to one bottle of soda a day, anyways. At school I've got a 6 pack of bottled water in my locker, so that's what I drink there. When I drink at school.

But they've got a deal with all of the major suppliers to schools to only sell diet pop, as if that's the magical cure for all of our problems. Kids rush out and buy this crap at $1.50 a bottle, when you can walk a 1/4 of a mile down the road and buy Wilson Farm's brand on sale for $.50 a liter.

Janeway 05-03-2006 03:43 PM

This is so weird.
My old comp never played any animations, and now I can see them.
Everything looks so god damn different.

Drum Monkey 05-03-2006 04:12 PM

So I'm tuning my snare right now... I have all of the lugs down to the point where they just touch the washers.

When I have put about 2 turns on every lug, I start tapping about 1" away from each one and tune them to all have the same tone, but when I tune one lug, the closest lug to it will change tune as well, so I can never get them all the same. What am I doing wrong?

Epiphender 05-03-2006 04:43 PM

I'm hoping you fine tune at about 1/16 turn or smaller increments?

Drum Monkey 05-03-2006 04:45 PM
I'm hoping you fine tune at about 1/16 turn or smaller increments?
Yes, pretty much. Sometimes more. I'll find though that two lugs will sound way off in tone that I have to do so many turns...

Drum Phil 05-03-2006 04:46 PM

I jus got back from playing my first gig with a new band :) Im sweatin like 50 cent in a klan meeting

It sounds like you have bad bearing edges man.

Also perfection is not needed when you jamming.

There's no way... It's a brand new Force 3005 snare

I'm going to work on it right now, doing as little turns as possible... I think I was just doing too big of turns before, because it wasn't always 1/16...

Also, when you have OCD, perfection is a must! :p Seriously though, I'd like to do the best job I can and the the best sound I can! We're also opening for a good band in a couple of weeks as well! :D

ThugsRook 05-03-2006 04:57 PM

^^^ bad drumhead / bad rim / maybe even an out of round drum.

Epiphender 05-03-2006 04:57 PM

You'll spend a LOT less time fine tuning if you do the rough tuning in small increments as well. I don't know what you did but I go up by all 1/4 turns until I get close to where I want, and by that point it's usually pretty even as is. I'll fine tune in 16th turn increments though.

Drum Monkey 05-03-2006 04:58 PM
^^^ bad drumhead / bad rim / maybe even an out of round drum.
I seriously don't think (and hope) it's not the rim or drum. I'm working on it now I'll post on how it goes...

-DM

Epiphender 05-03-2006 05:01 PM

I highly doubt there's anything wrong with your drum. Just take it easy and go for smaller turns. Take time and listen, it should work fine.

Futuro 05-03-2006 05:08 PM
^^^ bad drumhead / bad rim / maybe even an out of round drum.
Yeah, It is most likely a gear problem.

Double Bass Jim 05-03-2006 05:17 PM

The chances of a dud drum are pretty rare

I've had "dead" heads in the past which is rare but theres nothing you can do to fix that.

Just try re-tuning

Futuro 05-03-2006 05:21 PM

I just dont see how it could be THAT bad without being a head or something.
