Wintermute 12-02-2004 02:58 PM

Ooh, ooh, me!

I remixed Marvin Gaye's What's Goin' On the other day, and I reckon we've improved it. As soon as I get a copy back I'll host it somewhere and show you all, but our version is much simpler and more laid back.

:amaze: 12-02-2004 03:00 PM

why hello everyone

:amaze:

PaulSimonon 12-02-2004 03:01 PM

I'll have to get a copy!

Wintermute 12-02-2004 03:05 PM

It was fun, we were given a copy of the 2" master tape, and a recording studio, and just let loose.

We cut a lot of it out entirely. Our new version is scored for vocals, acoustic guitar, electric bass and glockenspiel. We cut the electric guitar (horrible tone) all three tracks of strings (intrusive and cheesy) some of the backing vocals, the saxophone, the piano and the three tracks of drums/percussion, though there was a little drum spill on the acoustic guitar track. We slowed the whole thing down by roughly 10%, added a little chorus and light reverb, and put a compressor on the bass. Raised the bass and acoustic guitar in the mix.

The result is simpler, and more groovy.

i was just hunting a spider down for a few minutes, then i found it and killed it.

I think we would click.... ;)

Foxfire 12-02-2004 03:09 PM

I sort of want a Variax 500.

Left Shoe 12-02-2004 03:09 PM

just got back from the seeing the rau collection. wow that guy is amazing, how many original monets do you see ina lifetime? i saw 6 today, impressionism is not represented well in magazines. if you see the picture of the painting it looks bland and washed out , but if you the original in its entirey its breath taking.

FUNKNBASS 12-02-2004 03:12 PM

On that note Fox I decided not to reivew a Variax bass, the shop that was gonna ordere it wont have it for awhile and I have to pay an "importing" fee at that shop, there the only Line 6 carrier near me.

Radiobass81 12-02-2004 03:17 PM

How did this thread get so big?

FUNKNBASS 12-02-2004 03:18 PM

Winter combined all the casuals, opposed to making another one.

Mitchell Royce 12-02-2004 03:18 PM

LeftShoe, I've seen around 25-30 orginal Monets. There was a Van Gogh/Monet exhibition in Chicago that was huge. Something like 15 rooms. it was great but I was worn out by the time I got to room 10. I think I looked at the starry night original for all of 2 minutes. Fun Stuff.

If I had a spare 1200 USD lying around I wouldn't be too opposed to picking up one for myself though. However, a Variax 500 is as good as a 700 electronics wise, the fretwork just isn't as good, and it's 750 USD. Might pick one up, as I need a recording guitar.
Winter combined all the casuals, opposed to making another one.
Ah, I see.

Wintermute 12-02-2004 03:23 PM

I was hoping to beat the Guitar Stronghold. It didn't, but we are gaining on them.

Casual One was 9 days before the Guitar Stronghold started...

Radiobass81 12-02-2004 03:26 PM

We'll get there.

PaulSimonon 12-02-2004 03:28 PM

Anyone fancy doing something?

FUNKNBASS 12-02-2004 03:30 PM

Doing what?

Foxfire 12-02-2004 03:30 PM

Rp.

PaulSimonon 12-02-2004 03:34 PM

Anything.

Foxfire 12-02-2004 03:35 PM

Wintermute wants to be a cleric, I know that much. The rest of us can roll for our characters with 2d6.

PaulSimonon 12-02-2004 03:37 PM

I can't find any of my die from my D&D days.

Foxfire 12-02-2004 03:39 PM

2d6 shouldn't be too hard to find. :p

Spaceman Spiff 12-02-2004 03:39 PM

There's someone back in the shadows, you feel though you can't see his eyes.
He'll bash your head if you cross him, ain't quite your average guy.
Don't wear no leather to fit in, don't wear to spikes to be cool.
Don't want want no woman beside him, just make it fast, loud, and rude.

PaulSimonon 12-02-2004 03:42 PM

Radiobass81 12-02-2004 03:53 PM

At the moment a Dean bass through a Fender or Carlsbro amp, with no effects, but I'm looking into that.

Wow, it sounds very Celtic-esque in some places, particularly the mentioning of Hybrasil.
Moxy: Yo también detesto a Bush, aunque en realidad no sé mucho de él, pero es simplemente suactidud arrogante y de superioridad que no me aguanto.....sobre todo cuanto ha costado la vida de muchas personas.

:amaze:
Hi again! Im back from jamming...

Conoceis a Aznar?, the ex-president of Spain, he was absolutely stupid, even more than Bush (I know its hard but...). Luckily he will be no more in the charge cause we voted for Zapatero (shoemaker, in english ;)). Remember we had a terrible terrorist atack the 11 of march and the voting was the 14 so it was a little influenced by that thing, specially when Aznar and his goverment tryed to blame ETA (our local terrorism) instead of blaming Alcaeda, eventhough they know wasnt guilty. (it was unforgetable you know. Nowadays, Aznar is teaching politics in USA...lol lol. We give your the best of our culture lol lol lol :lol:h

NOTE: Ive just realized I started the sentence speaking spanish and then I turned to english...odd

I know another good sentence about peace and war:

"No hay nada de bueno en la guerra ya que, gane quien gane, todos perdemos"

I love Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2, my war-related favourite song.

twopelu 12-02-2004 04:07 PM

U2 is a ****ing amazing band, they do much more than just go giggins, they SAY things and DEFEND what they think.

Adam clayton is a good player by the way, he influenced my fold days.
Bono has a very good voice and write good lyrics.

_GanondorF_ 12-02-2004 04:07 PM

What the hell? So 15 or so casual threads had 1300 pages between them??!?!?
