Jev 10-01-2005 10:16 AM

I think that's it, I've always said it ka-too-loo though.

GenuineImitation 10-01-2005 10:17 AM
I don't know if this has been in here before but, how do you pronounce Ktulu in Call of Ktulu? I always said Ku-too-loo. Is that right?
I have always said it like you, Ku-too-loo.

Chu 10-01-2005 10:23 AM

It's Cthulhu. However you pronounce that, I believe is the correct spelling for it.

Jev 10-01-2005 10:40 AM

Well Cthulhu is pronounced kuh-THOO-lhoo apparently.

lightningmetal666 10-01-2005 11:39 AM

I love in S&M Michael Kamen is all "Put Ku-too-loo In. Yes the Call of the Ku-too-loo."

angusmaster 10-01-2005 11:39 AM
I have always said it like you, Ku-too-loo.
Thats the way i say it and im pretty sure thats right.

Britton 10-01-2005 11:43 AM
Oh yea I also want A Uber metal
Just get the spider II 30 watt for an extra $100 US and you'll get cool delays and some flange/phaser effects.

It's nice but for the same price you can get the 150 watt line6 spider II combo which I guarantee will be much, much louder. The auto save thing is cool I'll give you that. Auto save on the footswitch is extremely helpful for live stuff.

Britton 10-01-2005 05:32 PM

Yea I see what you're saying. And don't get me wrong I love Line 6.
But I feel that H&K makes one heck of a nice product. And anything
is a step up from the mini cube I've been Jamming with for the last 2+
months. bottom line I like both amps but I feel that HK is nicer
even though it has less volume.

Hey 900!

those sound good to me, i want those.

p.s - might anyone know what page that recording is? i don't really feel like looking...

yes you do. i love mine (150 watt) and the effects are great. they have great tone.

That's the thing, the more expensive like that it's probably better quality but you won't get so loud with it (unless in some cases it's a marshall stack then you can get both)

Chu 10-01-2005 08:28 PM

I have both your recordings if you want them?

Joe 10-01-2005 08:29 PM
I have both your recordings if you want them?
actually now that I think about it not really, I'll be able to check tomorrow and I'm kinda tone deaf unless I have my amp with me. thanks anyways.

so you gunna put up some of your recordings? you said you don't want to but guess what you're doing it anyways :D

Chu 10-01-2005 08:43 PM

Yeah alright, when we get around to recording something. I've got such a **** tone compared to you, and my palm muting isn't great...

Joe 10-01-2005 08:45 PM
Yeah alright, when we get around to recording something. I've got such a **** tone compared to you, and my palm muting isn't great...
what equipment do you have?

try out different things. check out websites that have different settings for different styles (i don't have any links, I just know I've seen them). PM just takes practice.

Chu 10-01-2005 08:54 PM

I don't know my equiptment :p
Ummm... Just a small Fender practice amp, and an Ibanez something or other raised bridge :D (3 pickups?)

My palm muting is getting better as I practice it more I guess, but nothing good yet.

I tried your Treble/Bass 8 and Mid 4 setting and it was better then what I usually use (Treble/Bass 10, Mid 0), so I dunno if I have to change it for a while :p

Joe 10-01-2005 08:56 PM

Well that whole 10,0,10 scooping the middle is great if you've got it perfect (you know what I mean?). If you don't have it perfect it will be waaaaay to bass-y and high and awful. Just play around with it.

Off to bed, adios

Britton 10-02-2005 02:54 PM

My palm mutes are pretty good. My flaws are speed and solo's
back a page or two you mentioned KK's EQ and I do want to get
one some time down the road.

I think palm mutes work best with humbuckers and plenty of OD.

and yea I won't be able to as loud, but I found the quality to be better
with H&K. and plus anything is better then the 10watt cube I use
at band practice.

Yay!!!!!!!! they changed my name!

it's my real name

Thor 10-02-2005 03:38 PM

Hey Chu, why don't you have an avatar?

Britton 10-02-2005 06:27 PM

Cause He doesn't want one....

I probably already said this but anyway.
My rig is about to change drasticaly cause I can't get a tone
that I'm really proud of. I know about what most the market
is offering, but is there anything knew I might not know about
that you think I should check out?

Joe 10-02-2005 07:54 PM

TOTALLY SWEATING ME!!

And a couple of other guys...

Well anyways, I really love my Line 6 Spider. It's definitely worth a shot. I also really like my Boss Metal Zone pedal. So those are two things you might want to look into. (If they let you, try out the amp with the phaser on very little, the boss on full distortion and the amp on full distortion, it sounds really cool)

ok lateralus 10-02-2005 08:01 PM

It's so sad how good Metallica were in the 80's and how awful they are today.

Deth 10-02-2005 08:03 PM

Just a question, but why does it seem that every guitarists uses a scooped tone? It sounds so bad to me.

Joe 10-02-2005 08:11 PM
It's so sad how good Metallica were in the 80's and how awful they are today.
I wouldn't necessarily say awful, but you're right
Just a question, but why does it seem that every guitarists uses a scooped tone? It sounds so bad to me.
I think it sounds good if it's not overly scooped if you know what i mean. But yes you're right, i stopped using the scooped tone awhile ago.

Well, think about it. Compare an album like St. Anger to Master of Puppets. Their old stuff was so complex and, in lack of a better word, smart. The arrangements were brilliant, the instrumentation was amazing, and the lyrics were inspired. These days, their music is so simplified and generic. I don't mean they have to have guitar solos, but it certainly adds color to the music and better than playing a million same-sounding downtuned riffs. And the drums are even worse. Sounds like Lars in banging on a tin can.

yeah...the drums are what is getting to me nowdays...being a drummer..because i listen to some old lars and its truly amazing. real talent there. and then today he's doing stuff that everyone and their grandpa's dog can do. but i agree with ^^ the stuff today isnt AWFUL awful but its definately not all that great. i just cant wait for the next album to see which way they go.
