yea, but mostly on this thread. doubt the metal heads even know who he is...

thickasabrick 03-22-2005 03:41 PM
I don't know how many people have already mentioned this in the thread...

But who saw the Crossroads blues festival? John Mayer blew my mind. I had no idea he could play so well. That guy's channeling somebody, man...

I really wish they televised Jeff Beck's set, though. I could have done without the Clapton overkill.
I've been trying to enlighten people about John Mayer for years now. I saw him playing blues before he had any of his pop songs on the radio. Disconnection Notice absolutely hates him apparently. (I believe he used the term 'abysmal')

Walrus Gumboot 03-22-2005 03:42 PM
i love it. i own it. john mayer has a terrible guitar face. haha. i also wish theyd taped becks set but i would have substituted one of zz tops songs. they both sounded the same to me. too bad also that becks set was only one song. but it would have been amazing. i really hope he gets very high in the guitarist poll.
I always thought Clapton's was pretty funny

wanton 03-22-2005 03:46 PM

Badmoon can you post the Truckin' from Europe '72 when you have time?
The Hobbit was long boring and childish.
I'm with you. John Mayer rules. And I didn't know Jeff Beck was at the Crossroads festival! Why didn't they put him on!?

This Bluesbreakers cd is awesome. Its their first I think.

Yeah, I agree, but all the hot girls like him in my school.

Broken Arrow 03-22-2005 05:50 PM

He's good, I like when he plays Hendrix and blues.

MalcolmYoungRock 03-22-2005 06:10 PM

It's nice to see some blues influenced artists nowadays.

Anyway, I'm listening to David Bowie right now. We don't talk about him much do we?

NP: Space Oddity - David Bowie

Broken Arrow 03-22-2005 06:13 PM

No we dont.

jpj 03-22-2005 06:22 PM

Have any of you seen Creedance Clearwater Revisited? They're coming here, and I don't know whether I should try to go to that or Deep Purple.

They played near me but I didnt go becuase tickets were expensive. I'd see Deep purple if I were you. CRR(revisted) doesnt have John Fogerty.

blue3 03-22-2005 06:30 PM

I've never seen Creedance Clearwater Revisited... Deep Purple is great live though

Broken Arrow 03-22-2005 06:32 PM
I've never seen Creedance Clearwater Revisited... Deep Purple is great live though
I confirm the above statement.
He's good, I like when he plays Hendrix and blues.
 yeah but pretty much everybody is good when they play the blues, only some are better then others.

What does everybody in here think of the blues, I wish more people today listened to it.

pigonthewing82 03-22-2005 06:34 PM
I've never seen Creedance Clearwater Revisited... Deep Purple is great live though
Made in Japan is awsome, most of the jam bands I listen to are slow paced (the Dead for example), but its nice to hear a fast paced jam.

jpj 03-22-2005 06:37 PM

Just because a band jams, doesn't mean they're a jam band. It sounds like you're calling Deep Purple a jam band.
Just because a band jams, doesn't mean they're a jam band. It sounds like you're calling Deep Purple a jam band.
Live they were, not in the studio though. They wern't a major jam band like the Dead, but on Made in Japan the do an awful lot of jamming.

PinkFreud 03-22-2005 07:25 PM

pwned

you know what sucks? for the crossroads festival, zz top, clapton and beck were heard practicing crossroads but never got to play it because of the storm. thats a major bummer.

Broken Arrow 03-22-2005 07:40 PM

Well guys, I think I'm going to officially retire from being a regular. You might see me from time to time but besides that no. I noticed there is a new wave of regulars coming in so they can replace me. Ha, I guess I'm gonna kinda miss this thread so keep it running strong. MX has just got to repetitive so I'm gonna take a long break from it. Thanks for helping my expand my mind of music.

Peace.
