Yeah I wanted to go to Columbia, but what am I, rich/good at school?
Its a different columbia. The one I'm talking about, the majority of the people who get in have 2.6-2.9 gpa. Just my school :smoke: And they dont require SAT or ACT scores. |
Yeah I wanted to go to Columbia, but what am I, rich/good at school?
Didn't you get pretty good ACT/SAT scores? |
Yeah I wanted to go to Columbia, but what am I, rich/good at school?
You and Amit are tight, have him hook you up wif some moolah. |
I got a 33, but I have just below a B average.
If that's the case, a lot of schools will allow you to go there, but will put you in programs to help motivate you. My brother only got a 29 on his ACT (he's so pissed it's not a 30), and his GPA is only about a 3.2. He's going to U of M, but they put him in a special program with tutoring and such because his test scores are much better than his class scores. Fortunately, he found out he can drop the program, so it doesn't really even matter. |
yeah the underlines are missing or something. It's kind of hard on the eyes.
I thought it was just me. Crazy stuff. I got a semi-promotion at work today. Don't think it means any extra money but I do get a different name on my name badge so it's technically a promotion. |
There was a pretty good Motown singles boxset that came out in the last couple years. That's kinda jumping in the deep-end price-wise, though. The "Ultimate" series of collections are probably the newest, cheapest most readily available sets for the big names (Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, the Supremes, Four Tops, Temptations, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Jackson 5 etc.) These usually cover all the 60's-early 70's singles and hits, but some might be career spanning things. I have an older collection for the Temptations that's just called Anthology. That one's ok, I guess, too.
There are bigger, more complete collections for a lot of these artists but they're generally for die-hards. The only artist who's 60's stuff isn't really covered on the "Ultimates" series is Stevie Wonder, I think. I might be wrong, though. As a starting point, I might suggest the Four Tops or Smokey and the Miracles. But there are a lot of great songs spread out amongst the bunch of them. Like I said, they're all pretty easy to find; I always see copies of these things in the used bins. Whole albums from the 60's are usually too tough to find and not really worth the trouble unless you're a collector. There are a lot of good Motown albums from the 70's though, especially from Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson.
Thank you very much, Sir Crumb. |
What's he teach? I picture your dad being a mad scientist for some reason.
Business. His Ph.D is in applied mathematics. |
I got a 29 and had around a 2.9. I never did homework or anything. Stupid.
I have another friend who goes to the OTHER Columbia. Very expensive, even with something like $30,000 in grants. Spent $3,000 of his own cash last year just getting around the city and such. I plan on living in Chicago after college. |
blah blah blah im in high school and i still think i have a future
|
You're becoming very bitter and twisted in your old age, aren't you Mr. Zmev?
|
man Smile From the Streets You Hold is becoming one of my favorite albums.

Do you guys keep getting this message when you try to go to the A&I main page, or is it just me being faggy?
Unable to add cookies, header already sent. File: /var/www/html/sputnik/vb_link_alt.php Line: 2
|
Happens to me a lot.
|
it's because the underlines are gone.
|
Yeah I figured they were related. But the underlines being gone is probably not the cause of that error.
|
um obviously you don't understand the internets.
No underlines = Mega big problems for alt/indie. |
what's not underlined?
i have nooo clue what you guys are talking about. |
um obviously you don't understand the internets.
No underlines = Mega big problems for alt/indie.
Yes, I admit I have only minor knowledge at best of the importance of underlines on the interwebb. And Sroob, the underlines are missing on the thread titles. Wait a minute, they're back. All is returned to order. |
that's because I made a barter with the internet God. I traded him three neil diamond collectable vinyls and a chocolate eclair for the return of our underlines.
of course, you would've known that if you didn't fail at the internet. |
Can someone please close that fucking idiotic thread. Fuck.
|
thank god the lines are back

Whatever happened to Dei? Does he still post here?
|
Nope, always been Zorg. I remember your name though...you probably don't remember me. I only posted a bit here. Dei was always funny and he had great taste. Just wondering if he was still here or not. Guess not, too bad.
|
I thought dei was that Cygnus dude now.
|
Ah, such similar demeanors, those two.
|
I am home alone for 2 weeks. On the downside, my mum and sister went away today and there were reports of a foiled terrorist attack and now there are major delays to all major UK airports with hand luggage extensively checked and no hand luggage are allowed onto flights. Messed up. Haven't been able to contact my mum and sister yet.
dei
eh, his absence isn't exactly mourned over here. He was a prick and offered very little to the forum beyond faked arrogance, excessively pointless posts, and inciting ridiculous bickering. bleh. |
