Sweet. I'll get my hands on that soon enough.
it's a great evolution of their sound, imo. Flecks of R&B, Broadway, Rock, and of course Stars brand of electronic-pop with male & female vocals...

Fucking ahead of its time. This is post-rock in 1989. No surprise its on SST.

YDload 07-11-2007 03:13 PM

SST had all the best stuff in the 80s. too band they were really bad at management :(

Jon Spencer Blues Explosion- Now I Got Worry

Anxious 07-11-2007 03:21 PM

I don't know how much cooler a band could possibly be: 1.On SST 2. Take their name from a Lovecraft story 3. Play awesome music.

Greg made some bad decisions for SST towards the end, but he basically invented indie rock.

YDload 07-11-2007 03:51 PM

maybe if he wasnt high all the time he could have managed the label better, like MacKaye did with Dischord. i guess he really did have the straight edge!

Anxious 07-11-2007 03:53 PM

Thats the thing. I can imagining him high going "Whoa.... these jazz fusions bands are AWESOME!. I think I'll sign them all on SST!".

And thats what happened

YDload 07-11-2007 04:09 PM

whoa check this out

http://www.myspace.com/mouthbreathermp3

someone posted their band in the bass forum but as usual, they dont appreciate it! its just like an English punk band or whatever, but its pretty good for someone who also posts on MX

Over the last few weeks I've been listening to them a lot. Have you heard their record with Timothy Leary? Its trippy as all hell.

It kind sucked when they went electronic but those albums are done well.

Yeah it's pretty damn good. I wish there were more tracks in the vein of Genesis though, I really like that one.

Kage 07-12-2007 01:36 AM

bleep_bloop 07-12-2007 02:40 AM

One Love is one of my favorite rap songs

yeah, I looked them up and they sound interesting, as do the SST band you mentioned. I´ll check them out.

Right now, I´m digging some Spacemen 3. Great band, although I really can´t get into Spiritualized.
