I once heard someone call The Adolescents pop punk. I'm wondering how they are.

Explain to the black man please.

sketchyjoe 04-07-2005 08:39 PM

They're 80s hardcore. Some people call them skate of surf punk.

Anxious 04-07-2005 09:17 PM

RetiredAt21 04-07-2005 10:28 PM

I'd call them pop punk.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 04-08-2005 04:31 AM

I'd say they pretty much define pop-punk

SantaDuJuan 04-08-2005 05:33 AM

That's what I first guessed.

AndreTheHyena 04-08-2005 06:03 AM

The Adolescents were one of those 80's bands that bridged Ramones-inspired pop-punk with the LA hadcore scene.

im deppressed
I walked through this well know shop today (H&M) to get out of the shopping center i was in, while walking through H&M i noticed the adverts on the wall. In a 2 by 10 foot frame stood a photo of a trademark punk. Big Red Mohawk, Bondage Trousers, Exploited Patch.
Well thats proof if any more is needed that even being a punk aint rebelious anymore

Anxious 04-08-2005 10:23 AM
Mind you, I'm speaking PURE pop-punk....

The two Swingin' Utters albums that were nominated. Neither made it through. They are my favorite to listen to. Not great in terms of impact (yet) but they are really fun records.

Shizzy,

For the one-millionth time, the Utters are not pop-punk. Please do not degrade one of my fav. bands in such a way any longer.

Thanks.

They're pop-punk and to class them pop-punk is not a way to degrade them.

Brothel_Creeper 04-08-2005 12:44 PM

it is, because they arnt pop punk.

albert_bass 04-08-2005 12:46 PM

Every track I've heard was pop-punk. Example I can think of: Windspitting Punk.

Well maybe they're melodic hardcore. No, they're more punk than hardcore. So I can't see why they're not pop-punk.

Brothel_Creeper 04-08-2005 12:51 PM

there is a thing called punk, swinging utters are no more poppy than **** sparrer, and other bands

and they aint melodic hardcore, just punk, with folk influences

albert_bass 04-08-2005 01:00 PM

Hmmm... maybe. But I see a poppy side on them. I first thought melodic hardcore because they remind me to good riddance but no...

Rise Me Up 04-08-2005 01:01 PM

the swingin utters arent pop punk!!

pop punk=nofx,screching weasel,etc.

albert_bass 04-08-2005 01:03 PM

Ok, I give up. They're just punk. But NOFX are punk too... Well, they were.

Rise Me Up 04-08-2005 01:04 PM

WERE until war on errorism, maybe pump up the valuum

Brothel_Creeper 04-08-2005 01:05 PM

from now on no band shall be called pop punk, just punk

Rise Me Up 04-08-2005 01:06 PM

sub genres get on my nerves sometimes

albert_bass 04-08-2005 01:11 PM
WERE until pump up the valuum

from now on no band shall be called pop punk, just punk
It might work.
