I doubt Metallica could make an interesting instrumental anyway. Every Metallica instrument has involved Cliff. Without him, they can't do it.

Riva 04-06-2006 06:35 AM

To Live Is To Die is fairly instrumental, I thought.

And both Newsted and Trujillo are the technical equals of Burton, anyways.

IMO, Cliff was a more learned and creative musician though.

Cliff wrote [some] of To Live is To Die too :thumb:

Thor 04-06-2006 07:08 AM

Did they turn the bass on AJFA because of Cliff's death, or were they just stupid and didn't know how to mix?

E_man 04-06-2006 07:10 AM

Newsted wasnt there at the mixing so he was practically mixed out, and that he doubles james's rythem most of the time means hes barley audible.

Thor 04-06-2006 07:11 AM

Yeah but Burton used to back up the guitars all of the time and you could still hear him. It's a shame that they won't re-master that album with some bass in it.

Everything but the second solo, I do believe.

Thor 04-06-2006 07:17 AM

I thought the only song that Cliff wrote on AJFA was "Dyers Eve". I'm not really a fan of that song, though.

timmySmi 04-06-2006 08:11 AM

Nah Dyers Eve is Hetfield & Ulrich. Iam suprised Jason's bass is near enough unaudioable since he used VAL & Alembic basses during the recording of AJFA. They easily have one of the most punchy sounds around.

val basses?

timmySmi 04-06-2006 08:29 AM

Yeah he did I can remember in an interview with Bass Player magazine he mentions it. Plus if you look at the One video Jason's playing a VAL bass for it I know that does'nt prove he used it to record AJFA but Iam pretty sure he did.

Dreaming Neon Black 04-06-2006 09:15 AM

Ah, havent been here in a while.

Good news, just did the Talent show.

Can you guess which songs we did?

The Four Horsemen, Creeping Death... and Enter Sandman. Yes, I know, we did it for everyone else, in hopes they'd atleast know wtf we were playing.

Jev 04-06-2006 09:33 AM

Did anyone have any idea what songs they were?

PepsiMetal 04-06-2006 11:28 AM

Meh I dont like four horsemen. Enter Sandman is ok, and Creeping death is pretty good. You should have played S&D instead of four horsemen though. People go crazy during that song.

Jev 04-06-2006 11:30 AM

You should played their heavier stuff. Get people headbanging. or at least try to.

Dreaming Neon Black 04-06-2006 12:28 PM

The Four Horsemen and Creeping Death isnt heavy enough? o.o;

Well, there were a few guys I knew that knew the songs. There were some people out singing along, so I guess they knew. We had a pit going for Creeping Death at about the "DIE! DIE! DIE!" time too. XD I so wanted it to be like Moscow then. More people knew Creeping Death than The Four Horsemen, but Enter Sandman was the opener, so it got 'em moving a little. Fun, nevertheless.

Kyle 04-06-2006 12:34 PM

Whats with the dislike for The four horsemen, I frickin love that song.

Oh and Happy since when did you have nearly 15000 posts? That's insane. I swear you had much less not so long ago, or maybe I just never realised.

Nope I've had this many for a while.

Heavier songs like CD(which you played), Damage Inc., Metal Militia.

Dreaming Neon Black 04-06-2006 12:40 PM

Those were an option, but the rhythm guitarist wasn't skilled enough for Damage, and appearantly the bassist wasn't either or didn't want to or wasn't either.

Jev 04-06-2006 12:40 PM

Oh.
My bassist can't play Damage or Battery either :p

I don't find it anything special really. It's an ok song for me. I like most other songs on KEA more than the four horsemen.

Jev 04-06-2006 12:44 PM

I used to love it but I listened to it too much.

Dreaming Neon Black 04-06-2006 01:09 PM

Yer, I really screwed that last sentence up on my last post. =\

Anyways, yeah. Im breaking away from the band and me and a friend are going to do Bad Horsie. :) Ill talk to you guys in a bit, gonna take a nap and watch some ANIMAL PLANET!

MRDuCran 04-06-2006 02:40 PM

Ok, so you guys heard the Master of Puppets tribute album yet??
Some of the artists that play on it are Chimera, Trivium, Mendeed, Machine Head and Fightstar (wtf). It comes with the lastest Kerrang magazine and is the normal price if you're interested.

Check it out HERE

I think Trivium do a real good job, expecially Matt on vocals, I usually don't like him.
Bullet's vocals are horrible imo, as are FfaF. Haven't heard much of the others cause I didn't have much time in college (my friend bought it).

Jev 04-06-2006 02:41 PM

I actually liked Fighstar's cover. It's not bad at all.

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-06-2006 02:43 PM

I got to hand it to Trivium. Nice stuff there.

Joe 04-06-2006 05:28 PM

Yes, I've seen a few videos of Trivium doing Master of Puppets and they really do a great job of it.
To Live Is To Die is fairly instrumental, I thought.
Yes, except for the 8 lines of an old Cliff poem. He wrote most of the song's riffs.
I don't find it anything special really. It's an ok song for me. I like most other songs on KEA more than the four horsemen.
That's my favorite on that album.

Where'd my posts go? I hit 7,000 the other night. Eh, I'll do it again tonight.

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-06-2006 05:33 PM

I'm listening to Garage, Inc. Disc 2 and there are really some sweet covers on it. I don't understand why I didn't really care for it before. Like the first 4 are flawless (I've only listened to the first 4 so far)

Yea, Garage Inc. is really awesome. I only have four songs off of it, but I've heard most of it and I really enjoy it.

Prince of Darkness 04-06-2006 05:44 PM

Can someone upload that album? The Remastered one

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-06-2006 05:49 PM

I didn't know there was a remastered version.

I think you are talking about Garage Day's Re-Revisited.

MRDuCran 04-06-2006 06:09 PM

It's £2 and you get a free crappy magazine!

ever eeking always rupert 04-07-2006 04:58 AM

Anyone here seen the uncensored version of the Turn The Page video?
Nothing can describe it more than - :naughty:

Kyle 04-07-2006 05:03 AM

I'm getting my friend to lend me the cd, but I have heard 2 songs so far; Machineheads and Bullet For My Valentines. Machineheads cover sounds awesome, BFMV's sounds dreadful. From the clip FFAF's cover seems somewhat suprising.....
