Auf der Maur

The intro to the song reminds me of the Song Barracuda(sp?). Very rhythmic backing tracks, the symotanious backwards vocals over the breaks are an interesting trick i've not heard before. It's a foot tapper, and a great sing along if you know the lyrics. Overall a decent song, the female vocals are a nice twist that i dont hear too often.

Soli i Sombra:

Whoa...some weird crazy mandolin-y thing (I dunno what it is), but some pretty standard rock drumming behind it...and then it all sort of comes together into a more cohesive song with a quite good female singer. I really like her voice, it's not too over the top like the chick from Nightwish or Amy Lee. Backup male vocals...everything has a very strange rhythmic sensibility that's a bit like the Blood Brothers in that you sort of expect it to fall apart, but it somehow hangs together. Lyrics are a bit sappy, but hey, everyone likes that stuff every once in a while. Another good pick, quatre.

I'm feeling sort of chill, so here's another chill-type song:

a Very upity song. The chimes durring the versue are kinda cheesy. Every thing i very on beat, and simple. Kind boring, but a fun song for those who like the Flaiming Lips or a Modest Mouse style of music.

That Should remind some of you of Tool and their Instrumentals

King Crimson:

Bongo intro! Then weird "wee wee wee" instruments. It is a bit reminiscent of Tool, but I'm not sure I really "get" this one; I really like the backing stuff, but the melody line....It's moved on to something I like better, more moody. But then the weird things come back in! Like zombies! The four minute mark has arrived, with four more to go...I think I liked the vocal stuff better, but then I feel like that about Tool too.

Ive just composed a little tricky slapped riff to show off... tomorrow is my first gig, did you know? Im so anxious. Maybe, if we had the time, Ill play it. My band is pop rock by the way, so bass isnt amazing. Anyway, if I play this little riff it will be soooo ****ing cool!

I think Im not nervous, I feel confident about it, with myself, and of course I realy on the other members of the band so I think we wont do it so bad eventhough its my first gig and the first gig of the singer... but she is a cold tempered woman, she would do it right surely.

OMG! My parents, my sister, my university mates, my friends and my gf comes... Its a good thing because Ill fell suported by its a bad thing cause if I wont do it well...

And its in a mid place...700 people...mmmmm...I would have liked to have my first gig is a smaller place but...

oh funknbass I had an idea last night and i think i'm gonna do it, and i'm just wondering if you think it would be good or not.
well i have always wanted a fender 75 jazz bass (the natural with black pickguard and maple fretboard) but they are so expensive, but the other day i saw a very cheap copy of it but with a rosewood fretboard.

so i was thinking of buying that and then ordering a maple neck off warmoth and maybe some new pickups for it.

what do you think? good or bad idea?

That sounds like a really good idea. I endorse it. If you want pickups with a vintage sound check out Nordstrand.
