I think Rush and Randy Bachman should beat up Paul Martin and rule Canada with an iron fist. A rockin' iron fist that is.
What about Neil?

I can offer Dead albums at sometime if Moon is not willing.

So what genre is Santana and what are your opinions on the san fran psychedelic scene as a whole?

You will have earned your keep after answering those.

It's so good to have a classic rock judge around.

Two "working men" like them would really "take care of business."

I heard Takin' Care Of Business on my radio today, followed directely by American Woman.

That's a good summarry.

Neil should be included.

I heard it on the way home tonight. That show could've been so much better if they turned up the volume, Chicago's amps obviously don't go to 11.

Oh yeah. I keep forgeting that he's from Canada, just like everyone else forgets that he;s from Canada because he's practically an american now.

ok, neil young gets to be minister of rockin' in the free world and overseer of harmonica solos.

^in canada if we actually voted on that, he would get elected. I swear to god.

Tangy zizzle 07-10-2005 11:33 PM

Do we have any Roky Erickson fans in here?

I'm pretty sure this'd be the place to talk about him.

brettberry 07-10-2005 11:33 PM
Ok, sure, sure.

Canada is cool, I was from there yesterday.
I really did LOL on that one. :thumb:

and what part was you from, jesus?

everyone knows even our rockstars could do a better job than our MPs.

BludgeonySteve 07-10-2005 11:35 PM

they sure have more influence.

RockAndRoll 07-10-2005 11:37 PM

It'd be so weird to have a rockstar prime minister.
It'd be so weird to have a rockstar prime minister.
Judas Priest is close enough isnt it??

jpj 07-10-2005 11:39 PM

America will probably have a rockstar governor soon. We've already had an action hero and a pro-wrestler.
Judas Priest is close enough isnt it??
More sarcasm?

BludgeonySteve 07-10-2005 11:39 PM

I would vote for Randy Bachman. He would look out for the workin' man (considering that 90% of his songs are about being a working man)

what about neil young?

He's all about freedom and not killing people and stuff.

I think I'd go for neil over Randy.

They would be in the same political party anyways. But who would be the leader?

RockAndRoll 07-10-2005 11:44 PM

well either they couldn't decide because they'd both want their faces on the t-shirts and they'd break up after a few years of intense legislation making. Or they would decide having leaders is silly and get rid of the concept all-together.

brettberry 07-10-2005 11:45 PM

I think this thread is now leading to the politics section which sould go in the general discussion thread.

(now I have a chance to sound like an *******.)

BludgeonySteve 07-10-2005 11:45 PM

We're keeping it classic rock related.

and I should probably go to sleep.

you must have studied music theory

RockAndRoll 07-10-2005 11:47 PM

no way, isn't it like 11:46 over there? or do you have work/school of some sort?

Glitterati 07-10-2005 11:47 PM

Once again, I failed to consider the Neil Young factor.

RockAndRoll 07-10-2005 11:48 PM
you must have studied music theory

Actually I like music theory alot. I mean don't get me wrong I hate sitting down and writing out thousands of intervals. But I enjoy learning about modes and such.

brettberry 07-10-2005 11:50 PM

cool to find someone like that. i know this isnt the same thing but a actually have a master in instrumental theory and i only got it to study guitar and everything about it.

RockAndRoll 07-10-2005 11:55 PM
cool to find someone like that. i know this isnt the same thing but a actually have a master in instrumental theory and i only got it to study guitar and everything about it.
cool. I don't even play guitar. I'm a drummer, and I am slowly teaching myself other instruments, mainly piano. However the guitarists/bassist in my band all take music lessons from a phenomenal guitarist, and he's taught them some theory that they've passed along to me or I've learned with them (sometimes I go to their lessons).

I started learning theory from my drum lessons and books (note values, time signatures, triplets, polyrhythms. etc...) Then I learned some things in school and just from searching for it (major and minor scales, tonics, dominants, intervals, blues scale) and then some stuff from my friends/their guitar teacher (modes, gypsy scales).

This is sort of a random post but meh, it's late what do you expect?

brettberry 07-10-2005 11:58 PM

glad to see that someone else cares about their instrument as much as i do.

Glitterati 07-10-2005 11:59 PM

I'd love to learn piano. It'd be cool to be able to play like John Lennon or Elton John or Chris Martin.

Maybe that's something I can do when I retire.

RockAndRoll 07-10-2005 11:59 PM

Ya, I really wish I could afford to take lessons right now, unfortunately that is something my financial situation will not allow.

brettberry 07-11-2005 12:01 AM

well there are a few solutions to that. what city do you live in? I think i can help you. I know a lot of people.

RockAndRoll 07-11-2005 12:01 AM

Teach yourself. I've been teaching myself and having a great time with it.

The first song I learned to play was clocks, I can play most of Amsterdam (and sing it too) now, and I'm slowly teaching myself riders on the storm. If you have a piano I suggest you try and play it's a great source of fun.

I live in London.

brettberry 07-11-2005 12:04 AM

Really? well, i can help you in another way. do you have a lot of musician friends? btw, did that bombing over there affect you?

RockAndRoll 07-11-2005 12:05 AM
Really? well, i can help you in another way. do you have a lot of musician friends? btw, did that bombing over there affect you?
No, not london england, sorry. London Ontario. And yes I have a fair number of musician friends, 3 mates in my band, and I know a good number of other musicians of varying degrees of skill aswell.

brettberry 07-11-2005 12:09 AM

Canada? cool. well, generally what you would do is get together with some of your friends(no matter what skill or even type of music) and play with them, whether its the drums or different instruments. then you will pick up on some of the things they play and take it and run with it. also you can change some of theyre personal stuff and have fun with it.

Ya. I just wish I could take lessons to get the kind of critiquing that could really help me out and it would make finding new/different/harder material easier.

PinkFreud 07-11-2005 12:11 AM

having a professional teacher is usually more helpful anyway.

brettberry 07-11-2005 12:12 AM

well, you have to look at it this way. 1) you have to start somewhere 2) how do you think the teachers did it?

SrV_FeN63'StRaT 07-11-2005 12:13 AM

They should sticky this thread. :D :p
