I think Buckethead should beat Neil.
|
Well he's beating him now, 9 to 7.
Hmmph. The Who doesn't have an official thread? No one talks about them though and makes threads about them. |
There's too many good guitarists in this first group...I chose Duane though.

So did I. |
We talk a lot about The Who in this thread though. They always come up in conversations.
Today I decided to learn the solo to Time. I think that's one of my favourite solos of all time, definitely in my top three for favourite solos to play. I think Gilmour plays more bent notes than unbent notes in that solo (thats why I love him). And I figured out how to get his tone for that solo, it sounds perfect. And I voted Hendrix. |
Post one of the better ones. Like "Whatcha Gonna Do?" or "I Don't Know You".
:upset: I don't have those, or many others for that matter. Still new to them. |
So how'd you get the tone?
Bridge humbucker on my guitar, tone knob all the way up. On my amp: Distortion all the way up on the Ultra Gain setting (lead 2), Reverb all the way up, treble at 8, mid at 3-4, bass at 8, presence at 10. I also have the Bass Boost and Tone Shift buttons pressed in. That's using an Epiphone Black Beauty 3 and Marshall DSL100. The tone is surprisingly accurate considering Gilmour uses completely different gear. I played along with the song, and if both mine and his guitar are at the same volume, you can't tell them apart. (except for when I mess up) edit- Community Thread is on page 1967. Summer of Love! |
BADMOON
Post your FG. Everyone make sure he gets this please. I think most of you will like his. Hi Classic Rock. I'll probably never come in here again but our time was nice while it lasted.
Posted :thumb:
he's a mindless shredder. But he has giant fingers so it's funny.
No, Buckethead is a fantastic guitarist with some great compositions. I'm sure you would like him if you listened to him.
Which Spree album should I get Moon?
Get the Beginning Stages Of. Then of course get Together We're Heavy. :) |
Favorite live albums everyone. What are yours?
At the moment, nothing beats Europe '72. |
live at leeds of course
and i'll try to post some audio of buckethead for bonzo and rock not roll. hes definitely not just a mindless shredder, though he doesnt lack any in the technical department. anyone else familiar with buckethead want to give me any suggestions of what songs to post? |
live at leeds of course
I borrowed my dads Live at Leeds, and there is no Tommy on it, there is a version where they cut it. All they have is it in bits and peices after My Generation  |
most noteably i would like to thank badmoon for opening me up to more obscure bands. thanks badmoon.
Almost missed this. And you are welcome, sir. Live at Leeds owns. |

i know, but theres a deluxe edition that has the full tommy on it. or you could get the isle of wight festival. i did that. live at leeds just has this huge energy. plus its some of john's best playing. |
For me it would have to be How the West Was Won - Live Zepp
Or maybe George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh. I still can't get over the guitar duo between Clapton and Harrison on While My Guitar Gently Weeps... |

Whitch has better Tommy tracks? |
how the west was won is good but i like bbc sessions better. dont know if it counts as a live album though.
It counts, I'm just wondering why BBC sessions I love How The West Was Won much more, but mabye I'm missing somthing. |
Favorite live albums everyone. What are yours?

Hundred Year Hall is a good album. However, the set list is not exactly unexpected, and just isn't completely consistent. Though it does contain some lesser seen tracks, the common ones are the best, IMO.
Europe '72 has some oddities that're superb, and is fantastically consistent. |

i just think the versions on bbc sessions are better than the ones on htwww. of course it doesnt have moby dick, but the stairway is quite possibly the best version out there. plus theres a couple killer versions of i cant quit you. and i think the isle of wight tommy is better, but it might just be me. id say get isle of wight anyway because its probably cheaper than the deluxe edition of live at leeds. get isle of wight and then get the regular version of live at leeds. it should be fairly sheap. around 11 dollars i think. |

Yea you know now that I think of it BBC sessions does have better versions, I would like it better if it replaced the first disk of How The West Was Won, but still had the other two disks. Dazed and Confused is just awsome on How The West Was Won. |

thats true, they stretched out more on htwww as well, which is almost never a bad thing. |
You know this week I've really been getting into Bob Dylans song Masters of War, The Freewheelin Bob Dylan has hardly left my cd player all week.
|
favorite live albums include:
Live At Leads Allman Brothers: Live At The Fillmore East Frampton Comes Alive How the West Was Won Concert For George The Last Waltz if i had to pick one it would probably be Live at the Fillmore East |
Jimi Hendrix's Live at Berkley is an awsome live cd. I feel that is his best.
|
I had chance to get that on DVD but chose the Last Waltz instead...I have no regrets.
|
The Last Waltz is also really good, How The West Was Won was really good too..not really a fan of Frampton.. :\
Ooh, Before The Flood and Unplugged(Eric Clapton) are also very good. |
