I'm trying desperately to find that too. No luck so far.
|
Animals is taking me a really long time to get into. I am yet to fully appreciate it.
It doesn't really grab my attention instantly like Wish You Were Here and Dark Side... did. |
Yeah it's not as immediately accessible as those 2 albums but I bet it'll be your favourite, or close to it, if you keep listening to it.

I have it on vinyl:) And in great condition too, particularly the cover. |
I had to search the entire record shop just to get what I got. They've got about 5 copies of Ummagumma, but not too much else. I'll probably go back tomorrow and dig through the crates of records, which I am yet to do.
|
I just wanted to post this, in celebration of me finishing Inside Out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JaX7KUIz4w I think that's the earliest video footage I've ever seen of David with the band. And check out Nick's double bass drums. Awesome. |
That's a cool video of a great song but the Mason is really bad at pretending to drum along with the song.
|
But I loved Animals from first listen, whereas Meddle took some time, except for Fearless which is just brilliant.
All three of the points made in that statement are true for me.
I found Animals on vinyl once. It was pretty cool.
My girlfriend has Animals on vinyl. Bumps my respect for her up several notches :smoke: |
also since i know you guys like pink floyd check this out plz i added some awesome guitar (and slide guitar) to some already awesome guitar in this pink floyd tune i really enjoy a while ago
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ioktc9
bump |
Not bad at all. Didn't really notice any slide guitar at all, but your effects throughout were pretty moody.
Sounds like it was a lot of fun. Keep Talking is an awesome track :smoke: |
sweet
thanks for the listen man the slide guitar is at 3:33 to 4:03 btw |
Is it during the solo? I think I may have noticed something.
Sod it, I'll just listen again :p |
I love the part in Echoes after the "whale sex" or whatever, when David's playing that choppy riff on the guitar, and the vocals start again. Awesome.
Alright guys, I got some vinyls today, and I think I made a few good finds. The Wall for 10 bucks A Momentary Lapse of Reason for 5 bucks David Gilmour - About Face...I've never heard it before, but it was only 4 bucks, so I thought "why not?" Roger Waters - Radio KAOS for 5 bucks, which I have also never heard until now, and I really like it I also got Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's Brain Salad Surgery. I have pretty much bought the record shop out of Floyd albums. They had More, but it was an import and 25 bucks, so eh, maybe another time. I was gonna grab Atom Heart Mother but it had a pretty nasty scratch on it.
Nice grabs mate. Have you heard Amused To Death and if so, do you like it more or less than Radio KAOS?
Animals is taking me a really long time to get into. I agree awesome video. Is that David Gilmour playing guitar? I thought it was a Syd Barret era song.
|
Paint Box was written by Rick Wright, I thought.
But yes, it is a Syd-era song. EDIT: They don't show much of Roger, I bet he was pissed off about that. :p |
Great video there, always good to see them back in the day.
Amit, that atmospheric stuff you were doing in Keep Talking was very well done, I've always liked that song, and thought the call and response sections were brilliant, very under-rated song I think, anyway, yeah you did a very good job with that stuff, it had it's own sound, but it also tied in with that Floyd sound. Good job. |
sweet thanks bro it really makes me happy to hear that :D
Nice grabs mate. Have you heard Amused To Death and if so, do you like it more or less than Radio KAOS?
I downloaded Amused to Death awhile back but I havent really given it a proper listen yet. What I've heard of it though, I like Radio KAOS better.
I agree awesome video. So I'm finally watching The Wall in Berlin. I'm now on Mother, which Sinead O'Conner sings. Ick. Also, I really wanted to gut punch Cyndi Lauper for her performance. EDIT: Who the fuck is Joni Mitchell? She's awful. |
Yeah, I like Amused To Death better than Radio KAOS though I only heard the latter once, so perhaps my judgement is skewed.

What was Roger thinking? |
I didn't like it much.
But it was a huge deal. Playing The Wall on The Wall. So he wanted to collaborate with a lot of people I guess. I just think he could have found better people. Don't get me wrong though, there were good parts to it. Like anytime Roger sang the songs himself. It comes across as more of a show than a concert, which I'm sure is what Roger was aiming for, but I just dont like it much. I'll take Pulse over The Wall any day. |
Yeah, Pulse is much better.
|
Even after all my Pulse bashing and not even seeing that Wall show id agree.
|
The Wall in Berlin is just really "Roger-ish", if you know what I mean. It has a lot of extra stuff and it's a lot more showy.
So if you like Roger a lot, I dont know, you might like it. I know some other people in the thread thought it was pretty good. |
Hey, it's a fantastic album performed by a random assortment of moderately important artists. What's not to like?
|
Yer but Cyndi Lauper just doesn't fit with Pink Floyd music. I just cant see it happening.
|
I really enjoyed Mother with Sinead O'Connor
|
Well I don't know who she is. Who else did this concert?
|

Wow, Amit, I really like what you did with the song, you actually improved on some of the weaker points of the song, especially the atmosphere.
Great avatar, Jono. |
Thanks, it's a great cover. I was especially happy to find a a version without the text through google image search.
|
I gave A Momentary Lapse of Reason a full listen today, and I gotta say, it's not too bad. The second side of the album drags on a bit (after "on the turning away"), but it's pretty good.
|
Pulse was disappointing. Not totally terrible but diappointing.
|
I thought they sounded really good on Pulse. I can understand why some people don't like it though. No Roger, and the first half of the show could have some better songs. The show was too bright, also. I always picture Pink Floyd shows as dark and smokey.
|
I really liked Pulse, and to be honest Roger's absence didn't bother me that much (except for Comfortably Numb).
|

i really like a momentary lapse of reason too |
The lighting effects was Dave's reaction to having to play in the dark with Roger so many times, I bet.
|

I didn't mind it too much either, but it does take a little bit away. And yes, I didn't really like how they did Comfortably Numb, but eh. |

I like it too :p Not anywhere near as good as The Division Bell, but the album had a lot of atmsophere for me, even if it was created by ugly synths. |

much love and thanks :D |
