I would get the Clash/Meskies/BAD/Havana 3am/101ers thing, that way I would'nt have to go hunting around for everything. But it would'nt include the-album-that-must-never-be-named.
where's the fun of getting all these cds if they're easy to find? I like when I have to look for a cd for months.
indeed it is. I was watching Westaway yesterday and I was listening to one of the songs on the album that must never be named and it was pretty crap.
I'm pretty sure that they're not talking about CTC at all in Westway. It's not even in the discography...cause it wasnt really one of their glorious moment. hum.

Same here. I also don't like to plan what I'm buying, I just like browsing.

Teenage.Angst 06-20-2005 08:02 PM

It's the album that must not be named. Supposedly it sucks, but I haven't heard it.

Daniel! 06-20-2005 08:56 PM

What do you guys think of Give Em Enough Rope? I hear lots of people say that it ain't so good, but I think its great. It has some of my favorite songs. Stay Free is one of my favorite Clash songs.

EDIT: I HAVE FINALLY PASSED 200 POSTS!

guns_of_brixton 06-20-2005 09:01 PM

I like GEER, not my favorite, but good.

Uhhhh, and as for bootlegs I have some on slsk, or I could probably post them in the YSI thread. But probably not tommorrow, I'm sick and I feel like s'hit :upset:.
It's the album that must not be named. Supposedly it sucks, but I haven't heard it.
yeah, i hear it's their worst so i never did buy it.

Coma_Girl 06-21-2005 11:09 AM

"None of us is going to change anything. Everyone goes "Punk! Hurrah!" But in three years time what do you think I'm going to be doing? What do you think the guys who buy our singles are going to be doing?? I'll still be walking around muttering to myself. They are still going to be shovelling **** down some old chute and maybe with their wages they'll buy The Clash's fourth album. Rock doesn't change anything." -Joe Strummer

Give em Enough Rope is a great album.

Glitterati 06-21-2005 02:11 PM

It's a pity The Clash never put out more singles. All I hear on the radio is "London Calling," "I Fought The Law", "Rock The Casbah", and "Should I Stay Or Should I Go."

white_riot 06-21-2005 02:23 PM

NP - Bankrobber.

Rise Me Up 06-21-2005 02:24 PM

GREAT song.

your right. those songs do get tiring after a while. i don't mind cause the clash is the best band ever

white_riot 06-21-2005 02:59 PM

Well I could listen to I Fought The Law for ages and never get sick of it.

Glitterati 06-21-2005 03:08 PM
Well I could listen to I Fought The Law for ages and never get sick of it.
That and "White Man In Hammersmith Palais" are my two favorites song off their debut. Such a fun song.

white_riot 06-21-2005 03:13 PM

I don't have the US Version. I only have the UK version.

Daniel! 06-21-2005 03:18 PM
I don't have the US Version. I only have the UK version.

I wish I had the US one too. I fought the Law, White man in hammersmith palais and clash city rockers are such awesome songs.
I have those anyways because a few years ago I bought my first Clash album which was a greattest hits. It's called The Singles or something.

Glitterati 06-21-2005 05:28 PM

I have the U.S. version. I'd like to hear the U.K. version, but I wouldn't wanna pay full price for it.

white riot, next time you're in R & M, check the YSI thread, that Iggy Pop song is up.

sketchyjoe 06-21-2005 05:50 PM

The US version has some better tracks (White Man, I Fought The Law etc) but it's not as choesive an album as the UK version.

Brain Toad 06-21-2005 06:47 PM

Janie Jones is a better opening song. I have the UK version, but both on my computer.

sketchyjoe 06-21-2005 06:54 PM
Janie Jones is a better opening song.
True. And the album as a whole flows better.

ledpoisoning27 06-21-2005 07:45 PM

"(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais" makes the US version a lot better. It is one of, if not the most, political song ever to be written by them.

sketchyjoe 06-21-2005 07:52 PM
"(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais" makes the US version a lot better. It is one of, if not the most, political song ever to be written by them.
It's a song about unity based on going to a reggae concert and being the only white person there. It's by no means their most political.

Daniel! 06-21-2005 07:55 PM

I'd say some of their more political songs are Complete and Remote Control.

Rise Me Up 06-21-2005 07:55 PM

And Know your Rights.
And Know your Rights.
Know Your Rights, for sure. Clampdown, too.

sketchyjoe 06-22-2005 02:48 AM
I'd say some of their more political songs are Complete and Remote Control.
Complete Control is about their record company. It's not that political.

White Riot! 06-22-2005 08:03 AM

Capitial Radio One is a very political song

Aeaon 06-22-2005 11:59 AM
does anyone have the cd of clash's Cut the crap? whats your opinion of it? My friend has it he says it isn't good
I hear it's pretty bad. Joe Strummer didn't even consider it to be called a Clash album.

white_riot 06-22-2005 03:15 PM

The Clash had many political songs and very good songs may I add, that taught me alot of things and made me a far more knowledgeable and better person at that.

guns_of_brixton 06-22-2005 08:19 PM

The US version doesn't flow very well at all. It should end with Complete Control.

The most political Clash song is either The Magnificent Seven or Clampdown. There are probably others that I'm forgetting or aren't as good.

CombatRock 06-23-2005 12:32 AM

yesssssss im back. did yall miss me?

on my "camping trip" i discoverd i love Streetcore. i like evey single song on it.

guns_of_brixton 06-23-2005 09:49 AM

We missed you :chug:. I felt like using that smiley. It doesn't get used enough.

I finally bothered to learn Career Opportunities on guitar. I reccomend everyone who owns a guitar to learn it because its really easy and fun.

Glitterati 06-23-2005 12:34 PM

I want to learn "Tommy Gun."

white_riot 06-23-2005 01:02 PM

Awesome, I have always wanted to learn Tommy Gun. I'm not very good but I'll check out Career Opportunities and try to play it.

Daniel! 06-23-2005 01:34 PM
