Should I get the John Lennon live cd, live in New York, or is it no good.
I'd be interested in hearing an opinion on it too. I think I might pick it up if I eever see it. I did hear Come Together off of it though, and wasn't very impressed. |

It's John Lennon! Of course it's good! |
I haven't seen it, but I'm going with RNR on this one. I'd pick it up even if I didn't think it was going to be great, just because John Lennon is awesome.
|

 I should have known. I'm on amazon right now trying to decide weather to get it, so far my list is All Things Must Pass, Walls and Bridges, and either Plastic Ono Band or the Live in New York, I'm leaning towards Plastic Ono Band, but I love live albums. |

Get ATMP or Plastic Ono Band. 2 of my favorite albums. I remember reading reviews for the 2 others on Amazon and they didn't seem that positive. |
I really need ATMP. Really really need it. Yarg.

Until you hear "Sometime In New York City" |
I haven't heard Sometime in New York City. Is it bad?
By the way, I like your avatar. |
I haven't heard Sometime in New York City. Is it bad?
By the way, I like your avatar.
Thanks :) It's ok if you don't buy it, but IMO it is not worth 30$. The album is pretty bad and has alot of yoko screaming/yodeling, but has a few "good" songs (By good I mean listenable) The second disk came free with the album when it was released, and it is a live preformance/ jam with Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, and although it has it's weak points with more Yoko screaming, it is considered to be good ( I can't remeber if I liked it or not, I heard it before I really knew who Zappa was) |
Hmmm. Well, I'm not a big fan of Zappa, some is good, but I just can't get into it. And I'm certainly not a fan of Yoko screaming. I think I'll pass that one up.

I don't think anyone's a fan of Yoko's screaming. /bump |

What exactly is Anthology about? It's a book, it's a cd, I'm not sure what's going on anymore.
|
It is a collection of early takes and alternate versions of their favorite songs. I was meaning to post this one, it was on Anthology 2. I'll post it later and write an explination

Oh, actually now that I think about it, my dad might have Anthology 3. Does it have an acoustic version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"? |

Yep, and a vocals-only version of Beacause which is somewhat notable IMO Ok, This is a version of "And Your Bird Can Sing" where John and Paul were attempting to sing the lead vocals to the instumental/backing vocal track while under the obvious influence of certain substances: And Your Bird Can Sing hxxp://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1PBTBMY1HKEX20W70Y8LORR135 PS- It's very funny :D |
That was VERY funny. I enjoyed it a lot.
|
Is the And Your Bird Can Sing from anthology 3? I have all of them, but I don't know where they are right now.

For a second there I thought you were asking if anyone had been personally introduced to the Beatles by there parents, like "Hey hids, I want you to meet someone" I found Sgt. Peppers, Disc 1 of the White album, Abbey Road and much later Disc 2 and Let It Be in my parent's collections, so I guess so |
My parents were lame and didn't listen to Classic Rock so I had to start my whole collection myself.

What did they listen too? |
What did they listen too?
Well my dad listens to operas and hawaiian music. My mom listens to Spanish music. |
My dad actually had met Paul, John, and Yoko when he was living in London. He was a huge Beatles freak, he went to London in 62, before they had come to the US, and became hooked. So yeah, my dad definitely turned me onto the Beatles. He's a Beatlemaniac.
|
I just watched Yellow Submarine and it was great...it was funny...the blue meanie leader was cool, and the songs were great!
|

My dad wons let it be and some greatest hits records that I 'borrowed' from him. Let it be is a song I grew up on |
My parents played 1 and With the Beatles in car rides. After they played 1, I went out and bought Rubber Soul, and that's when I started buying all of their albums.
|
I found Sgt. Peppers in my dad's room, thought "heh I liked this when I was little, what the hell" and so I put it in my CD player and left it on so I could clean my room, and then I thought it meritted my listening to it again, so I put it in my CD player and listend to it in school, and then on the bus, for like a month straight until I found the white album and over-listened to that, then I found Magical Mystery Tour (It was <3<3) found Revolver later, got someone to burn me Rubber Soul and 1, found Disc 2 of the white album, Found Let It be, my neighbor had Please Please Me and A Har Day's Night, Found Abbey Road in some woman's car, got Beatles For Sale for Christmas, and my Sister bought With the Beatles and Help! and Yellow Submarine. I do believe we have all of them all...
I remeber the first time I listened to every single one |
I was raised with Sgt. Peppers it still remains my fav.
I got some beatles anthology or something and my friend burned me 1. I've always loved them but didnt start getting their albums until I was like 13 or 14. |
I listened to The Beatles from kindergarten to about 6th grade, then got crappy music taste, then started listening to good music again.
|
I remember afew years ago, when 1 came out, everyone started listening to The Beatles, but for some reason we only listened to the first five or so tracks and never heard any later stuff, which is of course much better. I only started listening to their really good material about a year ago.

"The Beatles were good until they went all nuts in India"
haha. |
"The Beatles were good until they went all nuts in India"
Who said that? It's funny how wrong it is.
It's from an episode of King of the Hill, I agree its VERY wrong, but I couldn't help but laugh. I'm just imagining the beatles going to india, and their like "Hey guys we're in india..NO PARENTS!!! WOOO!!!" and they start dancing and going crazy. lmao. Once you type it out it doesn't seem as funny...oh well I still got the mental image. |
