You mean you don't get Easter presents?

Your parents have been fooling you.

Well_Respected_Man 12-21-2004 05:24 PM

No, my birthday is near easter so it's not likley that easter candy will cover both occasions.

Luxor 12-21-2004 05:33 PM

Just got back from a wonderful day of snowboarding... Canada is the bestest country ever.

crazyGUITARnDRUMgal 12-21-2004 05:34 PM

never been snowboarding..

Luxor 12-21-2004 05:38 PM

It's the best sport/activity ever created.

crazyGUITARnDRUMgal 12-21-2004 05:45 PM

ive skiied a few times but never snowboard , looks fun.

but we all know volleyball is the best sport/activity known to mankind.

Zappa 12-21-2004 05:45 PM

Maybe I'll learn to snowboard this year.

But it's not at all likely.

Iai 12-21-2004 06:02 PM

I've been surfing, which is very relaxing and fun. I imagine snowboarding is the same but colder.

Well_Respected_Man 12-21-2004 06:05 PM

/me has been snowboarding.

Iai 12-21-2004 06:17 PM

This is a pretty cool music quiz about 80s album covers (all you gotta do is identify the band). Lots of alt/indie favorites here; shouldn't be too hard for most of of ya.

Scott Herren 12-21-2004 07:53 PM

I missed #6, 9, and 12

Iai 12-21-2004 08:14 PM

I only got the PiL one wrong, which was blatantly a trick question.

Sup guys, my band jammed all day, and I have come to the conclusion that we kick ass.

pinkyeti 12-22-2004 08:00 AM

i'm playing with the thought of putting a record player on my christmas wishlist.
would you guys recommend that? and if you would, why?

Tapeworm 12-22-2004 08:02 AM

Umm, it depends if you want albums that are only available on vinyl, or you know of a place where you can get vinyl for a much lower price than CD.

theredwonder 12-22-2004 08:04 AM
Sup guys, my band jammed all day, and I have come to the conclusion that we kick ass.
do you have a site with any music? or do we just take your word for it :smoke:
Umm, it depends if you want albums that are only available on vinyl, or you know of a place where you can get vinyl for a much lower price than CD.
so there is no relevant difference in sound quality?

Tapeworm 12-22-2004 08:09 AM

You could probably take my word for it. :thumb:

Only I'm on vocals, and I'm not too sure how the style is gunna sit with the rest of the guys when they hear it.

they not heard your vocals yet? thats always a shit. it takes a hell of a lot courage to sing infront of your mates for the first time, more than it does to a crowd.

^^if they have heard you, my post = completely irrelevant :smoke:

Tapeworm 12-22-2004 08:22 AM

Yeah, well they've heard em, but these are completely different. Crazy insane vocals, which may take a fair amount of courage. Yeah, funny straining facial expressions included.

Iai 12-22-2004 08:25 AM

I spent most of this morning trying to figure out how to play a few songs on The Holy Bible, by watching the live performances on the DVD of the re-issue. The cameramen for these performances suck and keep looking at the drummer during the tricky fills.

sounds interesting* ;) what genre of music are you? at a guess... i would say alternative/indie, but some examples to compare to might be nice. :smoke:

*painfully amusing

Tapeworm 12-22-2004 08:28 AM
so there is no relevant difference in sound quality?
Yeah, there is a difference. Record players have that crackly sound. But, I mean, if you buy vinyl you can only listen to it on the record player. It's tough freakin luck if you wanna take it somewhere and listen to it. Silly. Technology can be good.

Tricky fills? the manics? are you sure? :smoke:

I dunno, the songs have a bit of a range. I guess what we have made so far is somewhere around Fugazi/The Bronx/Interpol/The International Noise Conspiracy.

Just crazy fun stuff. I'm writing lyrics about fictional stuff. The song I finished today was about the character Johnny chasing a man in order to kill him.

INC were so good at Leeds. the frontman has some interesting charisma, although he might be a little too flexible for the crowds good. fictional stuff is ok to write about imo, but it's difficult if you're trying to put a serious point across. lacks emotion (at the risk of sounding "emo") :smoke:

Tapeworm 12-22-2004 08:39 AM

Eh, I don't want emotion that much for this band. It can still be very emotional though. I mean, have you not ever seen an emotional movie? Eh? Eh?

i saw them live too, but i think they are just too loud. all the songs start to sound the same from a certain point.
