They're from Sweden. |
Even the spics are Swedish.
Which is funky. |
where is opeth originated from anyways?
Stokholm Sweden. ''Opeth began their inexorable rise in Stockholm, way back in the late 80s when the then teenaged Mikael Akerfeldt was asked to contribute bass guitar to a fledgling incarnation of the band by its founder member, David Isberg. Isberg eventually abandoned the band altogether, leaving Akerfeldt both the bands name and the task of picking up the creative pieces. This he did, eventually recruiting what is now acknowledged as the first, real line-up of the band: Akerfeldt himself on guitar and vocals, Stefan Guteklint on bass guitar, Anders Nordin on drums and Peter Lindgren on guitar.'' |
The other day I travelled to a nearby city to see the Sounds of the Underground Tour. I don't normally listen to a lot of metal, it was actually my first time seeing all the bands (and first time hearing quite a few) but I thought it was really cool. I'm pretty open to all kinds of music. I thought Opeth was probably the best band there, they really appealed to me (definitely more than Lamb of God did). It was my first time hearing them but I'd have to say I was very impressed. I also downloaded a couple songs from this thread and they were awesome. Cool band, I wish I'd hear them sooner.

^ Have you checked out some of the heavier Opeth tracks?
|
^ Have you checked out some of the heavier Opeth tracks?
Um no I haven't I had asked and someone gave my two really nice accoustic tracks I'm a Big heavy metal fan I think I'll like their heavier stuff when I hear it they seem very talanted |
They are, but they have death metal vocals in most songs to, so if your oppossed to that... you probably won't like their other stuff. Their a lot harsher then Metallica.
And I was the one who uploaded those acoustic tracks. |

Lamb of god are very weak compared to Mikeals roar... you'll see.
|
Awsome man awsome
|
I haven't heard anything by Lamb of God, but I doubt there's many people that could beat Mikael. When I first started listening to them, I couldn't believe that was his real voice. I was sure they screwed around with the recordings to get it sounding so flawless.
|
Yeah, I still don't think the guys human.
|
You shoulda seen lamb of god live at sounds of the underground... me and my friend started laughing. The guys like "AND THIS NEXT SONG IS CALLED DGABDHGAD!!!!" because he tried to scream the title and it just sounded like he was trying to force out a massive turd... very disturbing.
|
Wow sounds awsome!
|
haha, yeah not many people do harsh vocals and still be understood. Mikael Akerfeld isn't bad for that, although it took me a while to be able to make out what he was saying. I think the best vocalists for that were Chuck Shuldiner and Angela Gossow.
|
Yeah, I still don't think the guys human.
I can get close to his growl, but not exactly. Sometimes I wonder how he withstands growling like that for 10-13 min. I do The Moor and I'm just about done. |
I love Akerfeldt's vocals on damnation. They color a picture for me when I listen to that album.
|
Yeah, his voice is magic on Damnation... it coulda been a little better musically though.

That accounts for 99% of metal vocalists out there.I think it's pretty stupid aswell. |

Note:The songs are in chronilogical(sp?) order in which they appear on the albums. That order does not exactly reflect in what order I like them in.
hahaha Same :p Reverie/Harlequin Forest is beautiful, isn't it? I can't get it out of my head!! Nice taste btw ''The Master's Apprentices'' didn't make your top 3? :upset: |
Lamb of god are very weak compared to Mikeals roar... you'll see.
Haha yeah no doubt! Lamb Of God tries too hard. They are a Very talented band though, singer-wise, they can't be compared. Two totally different styles. |
Reverie/Harlequin Forest is my favorite song off the new album. The "A trail of sickness..." and the acoustic part that comes in at 5:07 are the parts in particular that get stuck in my head the most.
"Nocturnally helpless, weaken the lights Depending on a prayer Pacing desserted roads to find A seed of hope" That part is friggin awesome too. Master's Apprentice was by far my favorite song on that album when I first bought it.The first riff is just soo infectious. As of late, I have grown more to like By the Pain I See in Others. It's so heavy. |

Talented? hardly, every song sounds exactly the same. And its not good same either. |
