Carvins are awesome basses, I'd probably buy one if I didn't already have a stingray. The stingray is the only bass guitar i'll ever need unless I start doing session work.
Yeah, but I'm a 6-string man. I really just need to feel all 6 strings in my hand. I love my Stingray and it's fantabulously powerful tone and easy slapping ability, but 4-strings just doesn't cut it sometimes.

It's weird, but I'd actually like the neck a little thinner. And I'm definitely gonna have to get me an Icon (if I can convince them to make it a 35")

m-dirnt_fan101 05-20-2009 10:25 PM

I still havent really found a need to replace my fender P with anything else. I have even played a couple other P's that should have been a lot better than mine but I still like the feel of mine.

Guess mine just happened to have been made on a good day:cool:

Sorry about the atrocious quality, but I made a video of one of my favourite customers, the Laughing Man. Yes, these three videos happened within 3 hours of each other at different shops.

What kind of music do you play that a 4 string doesn't cut it? I honestly wouldn't know what to do with a sixer, unless I was playing prog metal or something, which would be kinda fun though I'd feel like fag doing it. I hardly use the G string as it is.

gaslight 05-21-2009 03:27 AM

I can't stand 6 string basses, they look and feel repulsive to me. I enjoy playing guitar though.

I didn't ask a question I made a statement

furthermore, "yeah, no" would be the answer to 2 questions when I, as mentioned before, did not ask any questions

I use my low B string very frequently in the music we write. In fact, I drop it many times to an A so that I can bounce between octaves of the A-string.

The G and C haven't been used much until now. Some of the music we're writing allows for much more creative bass, and I actually play an A major chord and utilize the 4th fret of the C string. On top of that, I'm writing out an intro that is bass-only, and I'm 99% sure I'll be using the D-C strings on it.

Like I said, though. It's the feel of the neck that I like. Plus, I love narrower string spacing.

Moon Flavor 05-21-2009 11:23 AM

I sold my 6er long ago it just seemed impractical. If I need higher notes, I just play up on the neck. If I need lower notes...well I don't

And a smaller neck is way easier to work with imo

FunkMetalBass 05-21-2009 11:50 AM

If I could find a 4-string with 16-16.5 mm string spacing, I'd probably get it.

But I probably can't.

So I probably wont.

6-strings it is.

My bike positively exploded this morning. Good timing though, I found the bike I'm going to buy just last night.

oh?

We are referring to a motorcycle and not a pedal-power bike...correct?

you have a bike? what kind? I am obsessed with getting a motorcycle, though I've never ridden before so I'll probably have to start off with a 250cc ninja or something.

Efrim 05-21-2009 04:29 PM

uuuh, bicycle. I'm too po' to afford a motorcycle.

But this guy is selling a 2004 or 2003 Raleigh Grand Prix roadbike. Those bikes retailed at 800-900 USD, and the newer models at like 1200. I'm getting it for 90 CAD?!?! with wheels that were put on last year.

so...yeah.

FunkMetalBass 05-21-2009 05:00 PM

W00t! Aggy OBP-3 just came in the mail! I'm putting it in my 8-string and taking it in for a setup tonight. Yay-yuh.

fatbandit 05-21-2009 05:15 PM

New compressor and wireless in the mail tomorow hopefully :)

Efrim 05-21-2009 05:18 PM

New stuff for everyone.

going to see the new terminator in less than an hour

FunkMetalBass 05-21-2009 10:00 PM

I'm beginning to appreciate Ben Kenney as a bassist. His lines are actually very solid, creative, and work well with the music.

Spaceman Spiff 05-21-2009 10:31 PM

I just played a show. It was quite fun. Sound guy was a dick, though. I wanted to disembowel him.

gaslight 05-21-2009 10:47 PM

I hate bad sound guys, they ruin music.

BassVirtuoso 05-21-2009 10:47 PM
I hate bad sound guys, they ruin music.
He didn't do a horrible job with the sound (except that vocals weren't audible for the first few songs), he was just a dick. He kept disappearing and delaying the show, had a dick attitude.

gaslight 05-21-2009 10:54 PM

That's still being a bad sound guy so, fuck him.

Thank you, I'm surprised more people haven't shown praise for it; you're the first one

I felt like a genius when I thought it up

That could be for a few reasons though...

Yeah pretty much every sound guy I've ever met was a dick.

I'm remember one ska show I played the sound guy was being a huge cuntface because all 3 bands' bassists had ampegs

lol
