hes saying that your list has good/original metalcore bands while the other list doesnt
And that's his opinion that I couldn't care less about.

Oh. Word.

DJTeeLay 08-23-2007 12:20 PM

The bands on his list are certainly more original than the ones on my list, but I was refering to recent Metalcore bands.

I know nowadays most Metalcore bands sound the same, but I cannot think of another band that sounds like The Devil Wears Prada or Still Remains.
Haste the Day, maybe, but no band sounds like the style Haste the Day used in their debut, "That They May Know You."

Here are 5 random Metalcore bands I consider generic:
Killswitch Engage (New)
Diecast
As I Lay Dying
Catherine
Ateryu (If they're even Metalcore)

There are some generic Metalcore bands that I like to listen to, but I seek originality which is something I see in The Devil Wears Prada, Still Remains, and old Haste the Day.

However, old Haste the Day isn't recent, obviously, so forget I mentioned them.

All the bands you mentioned are pretty terrible.

jrowa001 08-23-2007 12:34 PM

old Still Remains were great. even though AILD are generic to most, i still love their albums

New Killswitch isn't generic, even if it isn't good.

i am the robots 08-23-2007 12:41 PM

The Devil Wears Prada isn't original at all, they sound like 10 different trends thrown into one song.

Still Remains is quite generic too, and their vocals are terrible.

tribestros 08-23-2007 12:57 PM

There's always a special place in my heart for Atreyu. Even if their new album is Mainstream Hard Rock.

i am the robots 08-23-2007 01:00 PM

I like their demo, and a few songs off the first three albums.

RetiredAt21 08-23-2007 01:00 PM

The Devil Wears Prada is one of the queerest band names ever.

i am the robots 08-23-2007 01:01 PM

Droppin' knowlege, yo.

RetiredAt21 08-23-2007 01:02 PM

I want to fight them.

i am the robots 08-23-2007 01:03 PM

Haha, I sort of do for selling those mash-ups of bad riffs as songs.

Eliminator 08-23-2007 01:05 PM

Bands need to stop naming themselves after shitty books.

i am the robots 08-23-2007 01:07 PM

Also, bands need to learn to write songs with structure.

2muchket! 08-23-2007 01:35 PM

I wrote a metalcore song yesterday with the best structure ever.

Intro
Breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown
Bridge with twiddly guitar bits
Outro (really a breakdown)

I think I'm onto a winner

But seriously KSE are good.

Eliminator 08-23-2007 01:38 PM

okay dude let us know when you're funny

i am the robots 08-23-2007 01:39 PM

No no no.

It should be:

Intro
Melodic guitar part
Breakdown
Two-step part
Breakdown
Bridge
Breakdown

2muchket! 08-23-2007 01:42 PM

If were gonna talk about BMTH lets atleast name check them ey ?

i am the robots 08-23-2007 01:44 PM

Haha, too true.

DJTeeLay 08-23-2007 01:46 PM

Anyone here like Vanna?
The only reason I like them so much is because they're from my town and I know them.

www.purevolume.com/vanna
www.myspace.com/vanna

Their debut EP was original, but their full-legnth sounds like something I've heard numerous times.
New Killswitch isn't generic, even if it isn't good.
Everything is generic, but Howard Jone's clean vocals.

LifeInABox 08-23-2007 02:09 PM

Vanna blows. Killswitch is meh, and they aren't generic.

i am the robots 08-23-2007 02:31 PM

Vanna's okay on first listen, I might actually grow to like them.

bwnstl 08-23-2007 02:36 PM

I listened to Silverstein yesterday, and right after I listened to Still Remains, and Still Remains was so bad that they made Silverstein sound kinda good.

i am the robots 08-23-2007 02:36 PM

Yeah, Still Remains is awful.

Tyler 08-23-2007 02:38 PM

Silverstein is awful-er. I think I've seen them 8 times, never on purpose.

LifeInABox 08-23-2007 02:44 PM

They aren't metalcore.

Tyler 08-23-2007 02:46 PM
They aren't metalcore.
They were mentioned so I replied. No one said they were metalcore.

encmetalhead 08-23-2007 03:33 PM

I like the new Diecast but i agree they're atleast sorta generic if not more

LifeInABox 08-23-2007 04:16 PM

They suck aswell.
