As stated try Porcupine Tree and King Crimson.

Also try Ozric Tentacles, Genesis and Frank Zappa to a certain extent.
If you don't mind heavier stuff then Dream Theater and Symphony X are worth checking out.

Daven 09-22-2005 08:03 PM

Also check out some Vanden Plas and Stride, you'll like them.

They'll do it to you. Just ignore it. I actually laugh when I listen to most death metal.
can someone reccomend me something similiar to children of bodom? Also what are shadows fall like? replies appreciated.
kalmah and norther are common suggestions.

Shadows Fall are like late melodic death (ala late arch enemy and late in flames) with breakdowns and clean parts.

loathed 09-26-2005 06:50 AM

someone recommend me some melodic metal please? melodic i mean really melodic...thanks.

Bartender 09-26-2005 07:02 AM

Well that could cover all kinds of different genres, if "melodic" is going to be your only linking word. Could you give an example of a band that plays the kind of thing you're thinking of?
